Manly yes, but I like it too…

My wife and I were eating at a local pub today when I smelled a familiar, but forgotten scent. My wife’s comment was, “Before there was Axe (body spray) there was that”. The dude next to us reeked of “Irish Spring”. Now having flashbacks to the manly Irish guy cutting up a bar of green soap with his jack knife. Didn’t know the product was still around.

Argus Pheasant wing pattern

Visited the “Extraordinary Creatures” exhibit in Seattle and found one incredible piece, the Argus Pheasant. This incredible pattern is going to be my phones background for years.

Wild critters on the shore today

Sorry I wasn’t able to make the meetup today, but I did make it down to Alki for the low tide.

I walked out along Duwamish Head to watch the herons today.

I'm always in awe of the grace, patience and skill these birds show while living their best life here on Alki.

There are always interesting sights along Alki.

The boat trailer isn’t really hooked to the bike, but I bet he thinks it would work.

Otter says “hello” on the Duwamish seawall stairs

Kinda wish these stairs weren’t so dangerous for the critters that still live there.

Last week's low tide at Alki Pt/Constellation Park

What a great place to see some sea slugs and friends.

My oceanography skills are pretty out of date, but using the internet, I think these images are

  1. Thick-horned Aeolid Nudibranch (Hermissenda crassicornis)
  2. Lewis's Moon Snail (Euspira lewisii)
  3. Upside-down Thick-horned Aeolid Nudibranch (Hermissenda crassicornis)
  4. Brooding Anemone (Epiactis prolifera) and some hermit crab
  5. Sea Lemon Nudibranch (Doris montereyensis?)
  6. Sea Lemon Nudibranch (Doris montereyensis?)
  7. Not sure, looks like a yellow rose, probably another nudi of some sort?

Dust bathing River Otter in Don Armeni Park

Out walking the dog yesterday (Friday 5/8/26) and came across this cutie dust bathing and playing with the wood chips near the boat launch.

We’ve seen several otters swimming off the shore and crossing the road here. Hope they’ve set up shop here and we can enjoy their presence.
