turning 34 hit different I guess

used to think I was invincible like, I could sleep on any mattress, sit however I wanted, and my body would just bounce back. then I hit my early 30s and suddenly my lower back has Opinions. it's not even pain pain just this low-grade grumbling after I sit too long or stand too long or exist too long lol.

I've been doing yoga for years and I love it but it wasn't touching this specific ache.looking now into other stuff. a friend lent me her reformer for a couple weeks just to try and ngl I was skeptical bc it felt very influencer-core. but it weirdly helped something about the horizontal position and the stretching with resistance just unlocked something. ended up getting my own it's compact enough for my tiny apartment which was the main concern tbh.

I'm not saying it's magic. but I am saying my body doesn't hate me as much after I use it. which is a win at this age.

anyone else in their 30s finding that you need to switch up your routine just to keep things functional? or is it just me discovering I'm not 22 anymore

Thinking of selling our 1912 Minneapolis century home, but it’s trapped in a 1970s time warp. Worth fixing up or sell as-is to cash buyers?

Hey everyone, I’ve been the caretaker of a beautiful 1912 foursquare in Minneapolis for the last 12 years.

The house has incredible bones.. original oak trim.. built-in cabinets.. gorgeous hardwood floors under the carpet, and that classic wide front porch everyone loves. But the previous owners absolutely butchered it in the 70s.

We’re looking at avocado green laminate countertops in the kitchen, a shocking bright pink tiled bathroom that looks like it belongs in a Barbie dream house, wall-to-wall shag carpet hiding the original floors, and to make matters worse, the roof is ancient and leaking in spots. It’s hanging on by a prayer after Minnesota winters..

The place has so much potential and history (it survived the Great Depression and was once owned by a local brewery family), but bringing it back to its glory days would be a massive project. My neighbor says list it normally, but I’m nervous regular buyers will get scared off by the roof and bank issues.

Has anyone here sold a century home with heavy 1970s updates? Did you try the traditional market with showings and open houses, or go straight to a cash buyer/investor?

Would love your honest stories, especially if you went through something similar in the Midwest

dating and dating apps are completely breaking my brain. how do you handle the invisible anxiety of ghost towns?

i’m so over the standard internet narrative on this topic lol. as a guy in his late 20s, trying to put myself out there has turned into a massive source of daily anxiety. it’s a brutal double whammy of getting next to no likes, and the rare ones i do get are just... tragic. i’m pretty active-i do bouldering, local hiking, love cooking-but the profiles swiping on me are either completely opposite lifestyles or just empty accounts with nothing but an IG handle in the bio. optimization is a myth.

but the absolute worst part for my mental health? the "conversations," if you can even call them that. i'll ask a relaxed, open-ended question about something specific in one of their prompts, and my heart drops when i just get slapped with one-word responses. "yeah true," "cool lol." no effort, no follow-up questions. it is like pulling teeth, i swear. and the exact second i try to move things off the screen and suggest a casual coffee? instant flaking or total radio silence. it triggers this horrible spiral of "what did i do wrong?" are people just on here for a quick dopamine hit or an ego boost? it's exhausting.

honestly... half the time i feel like i’m not even talking to real, breathing humans anymore, and that thought alone makes me super anxious. with AI spam and fake profiles completely taking over the internet, i'm convinced a huge chunk of these are just ghost accounts or bots designed to keep us scrolling forever. i’ve shown my profile to a few female friends, and they were shocked by how completely dry my match queue is. they kept telling me i'm a good-looking guy with a solid corporate career, so at least i know i'm not completely delusional. plus, i do totally fine in the real world when i talk to girls at social events or run clubs.

but these apps? man... they just make you feel entirely invisible for no damn reason, and the constant rejection-without-even-trying is a major anxiety trigger. how do you guys deal with the mental toll of this stuff without completely shutting down? Thank you for reading this...

how do you guys handle fleet branding durability on site trucks?

i have been managing our fleet for a while now and we are trying to figure out the best balance between professional branding and actual durability. our trucks take a beating on job sites with all the mud and dust and i notice most wraps start looking rough pretty fast.

i am currently comparing a few different providers to see who actually has the best track record for construction vehicles. i have seen some work from crafts Men around town and it seems to hold up well compared to what we have been using but i am curious if any of you have experience with their stuff or if you have found a specific type of finish that survives construction abuse better.

any tips on maintenance for these graphics or is it just inevitable that they get ruined? just trying to keep our trucks looking decent for clients without spending a fortune on rewraps every year.

The slippage on sol dexes is literally destroying my bot logic

honestly building a profitable grid bot right now is just pure suffering. You backtest on historical data and it looks like a literal money printer, but the second you deploy it live on solana, the mevs and slippage just absolutely eat your entire margin

like I spent all weekend tweaking my python script for raydium. The entry logic was solid. But watching real money drain because of network congestion is just emotionally exhausting. I had to just pause the api keys and go back to visualizing my entries on a Trading game app on my phone just to mentally reset and make sure my basic support/resistance timing wasn't completely flawed before burning more sol on failed transactions

does anyone have a reliable rpc node setup that actually executes fast enough to survive this current market? or are we all just getting front run by massive institutional bots at this point tbh.

learning video editing, help?

i've been doing graphic design for years but video editing always felt like a completely different skill set. a few months ago i decided to actually learn it properly instead of just winging it. i did a course on 4 reels pro that focused specifically on shortform content for instagram and it honestly changed how i approach the whole process. before that i was just trimming clips and slapping music on them, which wasn't doing much for engagement.

the biggest shift for me was learning about pacing and how the first two or three seconds really determine if someone keeps watching. i started being more intentional about cuts and transitions instead of just going with whatever looked okay. my reels started feeling more polished without being overdone. has anyone else here come from a design background and found video editing harder to pick up than expected? and what helped you get more consistent with your edits?

Thinking about buying my first short term rental. What should I know in advance?

I've been kicking around the idea of buying an investment property and using it as a short-term rental

I live in a pretty tourist-heavy city, and over the last few years it feels like the number of visitors has gone through the roof. During peak season, hotels seem packed, and there are always people looking for places to stay

It was just one of those concepts, but lately I've started doing some math and wondered if it may make sense

The financial aspect of things is undoubtedly the largest obstacle. After researching about several choices, I recently learned about short-term rental loans, which appear to be targeted at those purchasing homes for vacation rentals or Airbnb

I don't personally know anyone who's gone that route, though

For those of you who own short-term rentals, was financing any different from buying a regular investment property? Were there any surprises along the way that you wish you'd known beforehand?

I'm trying to separate the reality from all the YouTube videos that make it sound like passive income falls from the sky

Not looking to get rich overnight and just curious whether this is a viable long-term investment or if there are more headaches involved than people let on

Would love to hear from anyone who's actually done it, especially if you started with just one property

Styling my old small house before a full remodel

I tried new paint and moving furniture around to style the whole house but it still does not come together because the place is so old. Our home is really old and not big so every room feels limited and I have decided a remodel is the way to go for proper styling. I want the utility meters and other systems to integrate right with the updates and have been talking to a contractor about the best way to do that. What should I focus on first to be ready for a full remodel and how do you usually plan the steps for an old house?

what do you love most about folk dance?

Folk dance has such a strong cultural and traditional feel compared to other styles.

I’m curious what people who do it enjoy most, the music, the history, the community, or the movement itself.

What do you love most about folk dance? And what style do you dance?

anyone else go through that phase where you keep adding stuff, then realize you only use like 3 things a day?

been down the EDC for a couple years now. Started with a cheap folder, then a nicer knife, then a pry bar, then a fancy flashlight, then a titanium pen, then a leather organizer to hold it all you know

every morning I dump my pockets on the desk and half the stuff just sits there. the pry bar havent pried anything in months. the flashlight- my phone works fine 90% of the time. the extra knife -yeah.

stripped it down to just: wallet, keys, a small pen, one knife thats it. feels better. less bulk, less noise, less worrying about scratching some $200 gadget.

Im still looking for the perfect pen though. tried a bunch Zebras, a refillable Fisher, Still not 100% sure what I want. Something tough but not too heavy. click mechanism is a must because caps get lost on me.

what about you guys? What’s the one thing you thought you needed but never actually use? and what pen do you carry daily not the one you show off in photos, the one you really use.

anyone tried going down to just a keychain multitool instead of a full knife? thinking about testing that next. Thanks

Need a new pack for the wilderness, what are you guys carrying?

I’m finally planning a deep dive into the backcountry this season and I’ve realized my old gear just isn't cutting it anymore. I need something that can handle 4-5 days of rough terrain without making me feel like I’m carrying a refrigerator on my back. I’ve looked at the usual suspects like Osprey and Gregory, but I’m curious to see what actually holds up when you’re miles away from the nearest trailhead.

What’s the one backpack you swear by for true wilderness trips? I’m looking for that perfect balance between durability and weight, especially something with a suspension system that won't kill my hips by day three. If you’ve got a "holy grail" pack that has survived years of abuse, please let me know, I’d love to hear the pros and cons before I drop the cash!

Not sure if it’s just my phone or something else, but lately media feels slower to load. Photos and videos sometimes take a few seconds even when my connection is fine. It’s not unusable, just slightly more noticeable than before. I’ve cleared some storage and checked settings but didn’t see much difference. Is anyone else experiencing this, or could it just be a device-related issue?

I’ve got a couple contractors I use regularly, and the work is fine when they actually show up

problem is the scheduling… delays, last-minute reschedules, “I’ll be there tomorrow” and then nothing

starts to look bad on me when tenants are waiting

I don’t want to keep hopping between new vendors either, because that’s a gamble every time

do you just build a bigger vendor list and rotate, or is there a better way to keep people accountable?

We manage several commercial and multi-tenant properties in Tonawanda and are looking for a dependable janitorial service. Need regular cleaning that covers floors, bathrooms, common areas, and general maintenance.

Any property managers here have a good long-term cleaning company they actually trust in the area? Real experiences and recommendations appreciated, consistency and reliability are key for us.

Let me start by saying I rolled my eyes at supplements for a long time. The supplement space for migraines is crowded with a bunch of underdosed magnesium in a $40 bottle and some pseudo-scientific nonsense.

What changed my thinking was figuring out what to actually look for. Here are the three factors that convinced me:

  • ingredients that have clinical research behind the specific dosages in the supplement
  • third-party testing of its purity and potency
  • recommendations from actual headache specialists, not general practice doctors.

A lot of products miss one or two or both. It's the right ingredients, but at a lower dose than what has shown efficacy in research, or the company skips the third-party testing, or they recommend it, says "doctor recommended".

My friends mentioned one suppliment he uses for migraines, and on further inspection, the formula has been around for almost 30 years, and the ingredients present hit the mark on neurologists sites in clinical practice guidelines; it's specifically recommended by headache specialists, not general practitioners.

I've been on it for about four months, and although my migraines haven't completely vanished, they are not as frequent or as long as they were.

So now what would get a skeptic like me to try a supplement? Or for anyone who has used supplements, what got you to trust the one you're using?

Does anyone have recommendations for a commercial cleaning service that works in the Markham/Richmond Hill area? I manage a 3,000 sq ft tech office and our current cleaners are constantly missing the high-touch spots like the kitchen and the glass partitions in our meeting rooms. We’re looking for someone to come in three nights a week to handle basic floor care, dusting, and trash removal.

Who do you use for your office or storefront, and are they actually thorough with the details? I’d love to know who to avoid as well if you’ve had a bad experience recently.

THANKS!

I’ve been seeing more setups switching to PipeWire, but I still find mixed opinions depending on the use case

do you think PipeWire is now clearly the better option for most users, or are there still cases where PulseAudio is more stable or easier to deal with?

also, if you switched recently, what was the biggest improvement you noticed?
