I’m a “phone bad” person. I need recommendations for when my current phone poops out. I’d get a cheap flip thing but I need apps and mobile data for work. I love phones with keyboards and weird gadgets. Any help appreciated!

I’m officially done with IPhones, I’d like something with a more in-depth UI if that makes sense. I like full control over user experience and customisation. Ideally I don’t want to spend more than like £300

Reward systems don’t work for me because “well I could just do that anyway”

The thing where you write out a task and a reward for completing the task doesn’t work for me.

I have no sense of achievement whatsoever upon completing a task and I’m basically completely unable to feel proud of having done something. I have a really severe lack of any feeling of reward. I do things exclusively because I’m afraid of consequence.

I’ve been told this sounds incredibly sad lol so I’m trying to make myself an artificial reward system.

Issue is when I look online for ideas it’s often things like:

“Write 3 paragraphs -> listen to a song you enjoy”

Or

“Complete essay -> buy a new book”

My issue is that my brain immediately goes “well I do those things anyway in my free time so that isn’t a reward. I could do that any time.”

And it’s right! I buy new books and listen to songs all the time.

When I was little and in school struggling like hell my mum used to have a box of things she’d bought me (little dino figures, comics, sweets) for this exact reason, and I remember it working. It was like doing a job for pay, my tasks felt worth it.

I can’t really do this now since I’m 20, but it did work.

In theory I could get a box and fill it with tea bags and snacks and nice pens and things I enjoy but it feels childish. And I don’t know if it would even work since I could just have those things anyway.

Anyone experience anything similar? Anyone got a solution or advice? Thank you.

This was kicked off the main subreddit but here’s my home decor idea for excess duckweed.

Fat crocodile pond. You could even use a fat frog. Fat duck even. Fat animal in water is timeless. Perfect centrepiece. Elaborate pet rock.

How bad is this damage? Old secondhand hp notebook.

I’m technologically ignorant. I’ve only ever used Windows and iOS and I’m sick to death of it. The bounds of my ability are burning CDs and emulating skate 3. I have no idea what happens behind my OS. How bad of an idea would it be to go straight to Arch?

I bought a literally 2gb secondhand laptop to play around with and I’m thinking about putting arch on that first before I put it on my nice laptop. I’m planning on just basically throwing myself in a lake and learning to swim. How realistic do you think this is?

How do I achieve this art style? Does it have a name? I just watched barefoot gen 2 for the first time and I found the style so charming and expressive, I love it.

I’ll say I’m not an anime watcher at all so I’m not familiar with genres and styles, I know this came out in 1986. I love the detailed backgrounds against the simplistic character designs, I always put too much detail in kids faces which makes them look older. I love the colour palette. It’s just gorgeous. Any more artists with similar styles I could study? Anyone online who draws in this style? Thank you!

I am very amateur at this so forgive me but what are ALL the (abiotic) factors that can be converted into energy by organisms.

I know light for photosynthesis and chemical energy for chemosynthesis but I’ve also heard that there are mushrooms in Chernobyl can use //radiation//(Radiosynthesis)?? and I’m hearing the word electrotrophism? Not in terms of movement but energy synthesis. So it isn’t just chemosynthesis and photosynthesis, those are just more common? What’s the rest? Please explain like I’m five lol, thank you.

What is your favourite individual segment from a horror anthology. (TV, Movie)

Im watching some assorted best bits from alfred Hitchcock presents and the V/H/S movies and thinking how many incredible short horrors have I missed tucked away in an anthology?

What can I take with concerta for physical anxiety symptoms and ocd? Anyone have experience?

I want to switch off fluoxetine, but I have no idea what to switch to. It feels like it isn’t best suited to my symptoms. My anxiety presents as dizziness, nausea, adrenaline rushes, stomach cramps and breathlessness. I rarely get mental symptoms like racing thoughts or panic.

Tree mallow- Malva arborea- I have a HUGE abundance of it. Ideas?

I have huge pieces all the way from woody stem to flowers, massive amount of leaf. I obviously want to make marshmallows, and from whittling with the wood in the past the bark feels really mucilaginous. Is the bark edible at all? I can’t find anything on it. I know mallows are anti-inflammatory which is perfect for me, I just need more ideas of how to get it in my body. I also hear the leaves make a good poultice which is great because I can’t go a day without injury lol. Anything else anyone uses mallow for? Ways to prepare it?

I’m dying for marshmallows, we have a huge mallow that needs pruning, can I make marshmallows from the wood/stems? Or does it have to be the root? Could I use leaves? It’s flowering and hasn’t gone to seed yet.

I’ve used the wood in whittling and it smells so good, like vanilla and cucumber. I was wondering if I would use the bark or even the wood or twigs to make marshmallows

Why do sphagnum tutorials on YouTube say it should only be damp, not wet, and that water shouldn’t pool at the bottom? Isn’t sphagnum a waterlogged-wetland guy?

Does sphagnum moss need a substrate or can I just chuck a few pieces in a tub? I’ve currently got live sphagnum in a few tubs about an inch thick, I’m growing it for my snails to save money so buying dried sphagnum to grow live sphagnum on feels counterintuitive. Can I just grow it on dirt?

I’m growing a fair bit of sphagnum in preparation for winter to keep my snails a little warmer, can I place a few pieces just on the plastic bottom of the tub? Pebbles? Soil? Thank you

Madly anxious about not knowing the spoilers of a show I love that I’ve been told has a sad/shocking ending.

Fear of the unknown? OCD type thing? I’m going to have to finish it in a sprint of 5 hours today because I can’t cope with randomly remembering through the day that I don’t know what happens and panicking. I’ve been fighting not to just google the ending. Anyone else?
