What was X1 and X2’s place in the Grand Army?
It’s been awhile since I played Elite Squadron but I’ve been thinking about these two lately. If I remember correctly, the game starts with them training troopers on Tattooine, but then they take part in the Battle of Coruscant and then the Siege of Cato Nemoidia, alongside a detachment of the 501st (the unfinished BFIII cutscenes depict most ordinary clones as 501st, I don’t know if that’s just reused assets from BF2 or if they’re meant to be 501st, I really don’t remember how they looked in ES). Were they officers in the 501st? Were they part of the Special Operations Brigade?
As a sidenote, I always thought their story was a bit weird to start with, being cloned from Jedi stock and all. I can 100% see the Aiwha bait taking DNA from an injured Jedi for research purposes like that, but to then create clones based on him and send them along to the Republic along with the Jango clones just feels… weird. I’d think they’d keep them on Kamino for study, or even try to get them to overtly train with a Jedi to see if they could unlock their abilities.
A thought I had when Season 7 first came out, did Ahsoka ever interact with any of the named 501st Legion clones aside from Rex on screen?
It feels weird that apparently she’s close enough with all of them that a whole company decided to paint their helmets in her honor after she came back. The only time I could imagine she’d have interacted with someone other than Rex would be in “Duel of the Droids” or “Cargo of Doom” where maybe she interacted with Denal. But I haven’t watched either episode in so long that I honestly couldn’t say.
She’s conspicuously absent in the episodes that show character development and growth among individual clones, like The Deserter or the Umbara Arc, so we never see her interact with Jesse, Hardcase, Kix, Dogma, or Tup. She’s MIA during the invasion of Kamino, meaning we don’t see her interact with Fives or Echo, and even in the Citadel Arc where she fights side by side with the Domino boys, there isn’t any direct interactions between them and her.
But then Season 7 comes out and suddenly she’s friends with all of them, she goes out of her way to rescue a clone pilot who is crashing, she’s saddened at Vaughn’s death, and she rescues Jesse from Maul. Then we get Tales which shows she knew Jesse since the immediate aftermath of the movie.
“ARC Trooper reporting!”
I recently picked up the Obi-Wan and Airborne Trooper 2 pack on sale and since I don’t currently have very many clone troopers, it’s made me want to focus on the 212th. I plan on picking up Anakin’s and Cody when that one goes on sale, and I’d like to pick up the 212th 4 pack at some point as well. I got the Umbra Operative ARC to go with because of his orange markings, I think he’d make a good officer for a 212th Shadow Trooper unit
A custom figure of Echo if he was a clone commando, that my fiancee and I made
Since I apparently collect the wrong scale action figures. So far only Hunter and Crosshair have official 3.75” action figures, while the whole squad exists in 6” and some of them even have multiple different figures
RC-99/1409 “Echo”
For my first custom figure, I made a redesigned take of Echo after he joined the Bad Batch, but if he opted to use standard Katarn class armor instead of a modified version of his Phase II ARC Trooper armor, inspired by artwork created by u/leadius.
My version retains some of his unique visual style however, using the Tsukumo helmet as it gave a more “cyborg” vibe in my opinion, not dissimilar to his modified phase 2 helmet seen in the show.
Every clone commando is competently trained in demolitions, marksmanship, battlefield medicine, and hacking, with each member of a squad specializing in one of the above tasks. Given the nature of his cybernetic implants, Echo shares the role of squad hacker with CT-9902 “Tech”, which is reflected in canon by them having the same style of backpack with added communication antennas. For my version, I opted to give Echo a backpack more similar to that worn by RC-1140, “Fixer” from Delta Squad. While Tech is eccentric and somewhat goofy like the rest of the Batch, like Fixer, Echo is gruff and grumpy, and overall disinterested in his squad’s shenanigans.
Also like Fixer, Echo appears to be the unofficial second in command of his particular squad, taking over when Hunter is captured by Crosshair in the penultimate episode of season 1. Thus, Echo receives two dots on the left side of his chest plate, similar to Fixer.
One last note about my custom version, I opted to give him shoulder plates inspired by the comic book “Star Wars Tales #22, Honor Bound,” for no other reason than because I think they look cool. The shoulders, helmet and backpack all came from Wilson Works 3D on Etsy, and the scomp link arm is from Coruscant Customs on Etsy. All 3D pieces were painted by my wonderful fiancee.
Stepparent adoption if the non-custodial parent doesn’t want to give up her parental rights?
For context, I got divorced January of 2024, my ex has lived in North Carolina since November of 2023. She’s supposed to have the kids (13,8,4) for the summer and I have them for the school year. She hasn’t taken them for her time at all. Since she left, the only time she’s seen them was when she came back to get her things in April of 2024.
I am getting married in September, and my bride to be and I are planning on having another baby. She will have lived in our house with us for about a year by that point, and she has expressed a desire to adopt my kids. The kids all love her and are on board. My youngest was so young when his bio mom took off and as such, he doesn’t even know her. He knows of her, but since she makes no effort to be involved, he has no memories of her or with her, and he calls my fiancee “mama” instead. That was his choice, nobody made him do that.
I read on the state website that one of the following must be true for a stepparent to adopt the kids:
-A court has ended the parent-child legal relationship
-The other parent is deceased
-A court has approved voluntary relinquishment of the parent-child legal relationship, meaning a parent has agreed to give up their rights as a parent
-Written, verified consent of the other parent
I can see the bio mom refusing to sign away her parental rights purely out of spite. Nothing with that woman is ever easy, even though she has made it clear that she doesn’t care and has no interest in being a parent anymore. She claims she hasn’t abandoned them, but she doesn’t see them. She doesn’t even make an effort to call, usually the only communication are from my oldest calling her or their grandmother calling her. She only pays child support because her wages are being garnished, I believe she has changed jobs on at least one occasion to get out of it but aside from catching her lying about her employment status, I have no proof. What does the court ending the parent-child relationship as seen in the first bullet point on the state website entail?
Cal Kestis (Survivor) vs Kyle Katarn (Jedi Outcast)?
General Weir and Stormtrooper Commander (kinda) reporting for duty!
I think I’ve finally figured out exactly what how I want to finish off my army. In the Special Forces squad, I want to add two white scout troopers, one with a sniper rifle and the other with a baton (Rick the Door Technician).
I used a Rocket Trooper with an E-11 for the infantry squad’s commander, because there were a couple stormtrooper commanders in the first season of Rebels with red pauldrons (picture included). I’m going to finish that section with a stormtrooper heavy from Fallen Order, Luke Skywalker in Stormtrooper disguise (one of the stormtroopers already here is secretly Han Solo 🤫) and two more Jumptroopers
Post Endor EU guide
It has come to my attention that I’ve read very little of the old EU that takes place after Endor. I know the broad strokes of the major story arcs, but I want to actually get into it and read it for myself. But as we all know, the EU is huge and tends to be all over the place, sprinkled with references to other works. What would be the best way to go about reading all of it so that I understand the little references as I go?
I have read the Thrawn Trilogy, Hand of Thrawn Duology, and the first set of Crimson Empire comics. It was mostly the Hand of Thrawn duology that made me come to this realization.
This might sound petty, but can I legally block my ex from sending my children birthday presents if she’s otherwise not going to see them?
For context, we’ve been divorced for two and a half years. She moved out of state before the divorce was final, and I have primary custody of the children. She’s supposed to have them for the summer and I have them for the school year, but we’re on summer number three without hearing a word about her taking them for her time. In April I actually had the parenting plan altered with the court so that she physically has to come here to spend time with them because she has been child free for so long and she doesn’t even really know the youngest (he was barely a year old when she left). She also doesn’t ever really talk to the younger two, the oldest has her own phone and she barely talks to her on it. She never calls me to talk to the children.
I received a package today for my middle child’s birthday. In May, she emailed me to let me know we’d be getting a package for my son for his birthday, but this one came completely by surprise. She didn’t notify me to be watching for a package at all. However she did text our oldest that packages would be coming. This feels wrong, using our child as a go-between, especially since the last time she even texted her was to ask if her brother liked his presents.
The fact that she’s sending packages at all while not making an effort to see them already rubs me the wrong way. It feels like she’s trying to buy their affection. Meanwhile I’m actually here with the kids, during her time, taking care of them, actually doing things with them for their birthdays. It’s difficult enough to even get the woman to pay child support, she has changed jobs just to get out of getting her wages garnished.
Overall, it’s very uncomfortable for myself and even my oldest child that she’s doing this. Is there any way I can make her stop? If she actually came here and saw the kids and gave them presents would be one thing, I would be okay with that, but she has no interest in actually being involved.
As we continue working on our custom commando Echo project, I decided it might be fun to give Crosshair a blue visor like regular commandos, since we have an extra helmet for him now
At the moment we’re only missing the scomp link hand, and when that’s here and painted, I’ll assemble the full figure
Redid my Imperial Army again, this time organizing my troopers into squads of ten. The Remnants received reinforcements in the form of the Remnant four pack from TMAG and the (carbonized) Remnant trooper from Mando
When I ordered the Remnant Stormtrooper single carded figure, I didn’t realize that I got the carbonized version. He was a couple bucks cheaper than the other listing on Amazon so I went for the cheaper one.
I still have some gaps obviously, I’m planning on getting the new Sandtrooper to put with the Remnant, along with Luke Skywalker in Stormtrooper Disguise (one of the Stormtroopers is actually Han Solo 🤫), a rocket stormtrooper and heavy stormtrooper from Jedi Survivor, and two more Rocket troopers.
I’m also planning on doing at least one more Electrostaff Purge trooper, two purge troopers from Kenobi, and Marrok
Nabbed Spark, as well as bodies and arms for Saesee Tiin’s commander and a Wolfpack ARC for Jonak’s 6-6 sale
Decided my Imperial Army was growing too rapidly to keep the battle scene with Maul. I decided to organize my regular imperials in rows of four and my remnants in rows of three, plus the tank. Also included are new orders and ideas I have to fill spaces
Thinking about buying a Beretta 30x Tomcat for my wife. Thoughts?
Okay so for context, she has a condition that limits her hand strength and that’s what put this firearm on my radar in the first place. Currently her only gun is a Walther P22 and it’s hit or miss as far as reliability goes, probably because that’s the nature of .22LR. I’ve had her shoot my PPK in .380, but it hurts her hands too much for that to be a viable option, so this puts us in the awkward category of small and relatively difficult to find calibers like .25 ACP or .32 ACP. Which I know all of the above are considered anemic by many of us, but I’d rather her carry and be proficient with something. .25 is a pain to find and expensive when you find it, but PSA has .32 for sale for around 60 cents per round for target ammo, good enough. What are our thoughts on this gun? Any other suggestions?
Was able to snag a stormtrooper commander for next to nothing so I decided to practice kitbashing. I made a Night Trooper Commander
I needed a neck ball joint for my custom Echo figure and saw this guy up for sale like new on Amazon. Two days later and I have my ball joint, a unique night trooper variant, and a pile of extra pieces. Bonus pic of my fiancee enjoying this just as much as I do
Update on my first custom figure project: I decided on the Echo redesign, my fiancee painted the helmet and now we’re waiting on a base figure and some new shoulders and backpack
The original art work was done by u/leadius, we didn’t follow it exactly obviously, but I love the idea of it. I thought the Star Wars Visions helmet gave off a good “cyborg” vibe. The helmet and the other pieces I ordered are from Wilson Works 3D on Etsy. I ordered another Crosshair figure for it, but I didn’t want to mess with my existing figure until I had the other one in hand
I asked for advice on my first custom, and I’ve narrowed it down to three different ideas. Need help picking which one
I decided it’s going to be between a fanon redesign of Echo or Honnid’s interpretation of Corr from the Republic Commando books. I bought the helmet in the last slide because for reasons I can’t explain it has a cyborg vibe to it.
For Echo, I’d paint the helmet with a bad batch color scheme and stick it on an official Hunter body.
For Corr, I’d paint the helmet all black, and use a regular clone trooper body, but painted up with a bomb squad color pattern (or black potentially based on what yall think) with Dark Trooper hands. I won’t worry about the gunner pieces on the chest or shoulders for now
