Australia/NZ

Inquiring about what options I have as an American for seasonal work in Australia and New Zealand (work holiday visa). I have experience in water sports, boating, and surfing, but I’m not aware of any jobs in that sector that provide accommodation. I’m only scratching the surface here, but any insight at all is greatly appreciated. I’m looking at other locations too, but Australia and NZ are my top choices and ones I need most info on.

Factory Lofts

I’m taking a gap year, working in Winston while applying to med schools. I toured WFL and loved the place, but want to get a full scoop on it before signing a lease. I also toured plant 64 and it was great too, but just lived the overall vibe of the factory lofts more. Any insight would be great

Painful sex with no solution

Sex has never not been painful for me. For context, I’m a 22 year old female, lost my virginity about 3 years ago, and don’t have a ton of experience when it comes to actual intercourse. But the experience I do have, has not been very enjoyable. Every time I have gone all the way (just one exception), it never stays inside for more than about 20 seconds. And when it is inside, it doesn’t even go all the way, maybe like half of what it could, and is incredibly painful. Not just uncomfortable, not just the feeling of pressure, but painful, and severely so. Vaginismus is probably the first thing that comes to mind reading this, but I’ve been to a few gynecologists over the years that have not been able to find any anatomical abnormalities or anything else suggesting vaginismus. The position that hurts the least is in missionary, with me on the bottom, but still hurts nonetheless. I feel discouraged from having sex, both because of the humiliation I feel when I don’t “perform well” and the fact that it is so physically painful. The last time was almost 8 months ago, and it was the worst sex I’ve had (I was the reason for it being so bad). For what it’s worth, I’ve only ever had sex with people I have an actual rapport or emotional connection with, never a one night stand kind of thing. I am also very small, about 110 pounds and 5’8”, so maybe it’s just my size. I just don’t understand why it’s never not painful. I want to actually enjoy sex, not just the foreplay. In theory, I have everything I need to have good sex. A partner I’m comfortable with, I’m always aroused and wet, and no physical limitations (supposedly). Is this just the way it’ll always be for me because of my physique? What could some other possible causes be, and most importantly solutions?

Careers in geopolitics/intelligence?

I’m a college student studying international relations and economics. I love learning about and immersing myself in topics in geopolitics, foreign relation/policy, and intelligence. I am also interested in how these topics intersect with economic issues, though that’s more secondary. What institutions or career trajectories can I look into pursuing? I am mostly interested in private sector work, but am open to public avenues too.

Careers in geopolitics/intelligence

I’m a college student studying international relations and economics. As I get further in my studies, I’m also putting more thought into my career prospects. I love learning about topics in geopolitics, foreign relations, intelligence, and security. I’m also interested in how they intersect with economic issues, but that’s more secondary. I’m not looking for any specific advice or questions to be answered, but just for general insights into what careers and trajectories I can pursue with my interests. I prefer private sector work, but am exploring public avenues as well. Any insight at all is appreciated!

CofC Housing

Hey everyone. I am a transfer student at CofC. I’m trying to sort out housing (severe time crunch, I know). Anyway, on my student COA planner, it has my housing listed as “on campus residence” and the price for that type of housing. I am not eligible for campus housing since I’m a transfer this year, so why is on campus housing listed. Is this normal? Should my housing allowance be in the “off campus residence” column, or is it listed as on campus as a standard display of cost of attendance? There is nothing in reference to housing on my actual bill. I’ve asked for assistance on this matter through the finance and treasurer’s office, but I keep either getting ping ponged between the two offices or I am told that a supervisor would know more and reach out to me. No luck on that front though. Does anyone have any answers from personal experience here? Any insight is appreciated.

Suicidal Ideation and Embarrassment

I feel so fucking stupid saying this, but here it goes. I have suicidal ideation frequently. I have for years. I wish I could say the reason I haven’t succumbed to it after all this time is because I am resilient or because I’m strong or because I’m noble to make the difficult decision to stay here when I have a strong urge to end it. But it’s none of those. The real reason I have stayed here is because of humiliation. I want to die. But if I end things, I’ll be known as “the girl who killer herself.” I know it’s pathetic, but it’s true. I don’t give a fuck about leaving any kind of legacy behind in this world. But I do care if I’m remembered only for doing that. It’s paradoxical too. Because if I care enough to keep up my image, I should care enough to live. But I don’t. I can’t make much sense of it myself, but it’s true. I need to know- am I some kind of freak for this? Has anyone else felt remotely like this before? It’s horrible, wanting to go, but not to the point you’re willing to sacrifice your image. I feel ashamed to say this, and I’ve never shared this before until now.

Feeling Paralyzed

It’s a summer Friday night. I should be having fun. Instead, I’m sitting in the dark in my car after a terrible shift at work. I feel frozen and can’t get out of the car to walk up the driveway into my house. My anxiety and depression have consumed me to the point I haven’t felt like I’ve been truly alive. I first started feeling this way at 12. I’m 22 now. Never caught a break from it. I guess I’m just sitting here because nothing is waiting for me inside. I’m a drain on my family. Even though they don’t admit it, I know I am. Or maybe my mind is so plagued by the emotional clusterfuck that has defined my existence for 10 years, that it can’t set my body in motion. Either way, I’m not asking for pity or sympathy. I just truly have no where or no one else to express this horrible feeling. Maybe I want to know I’m not as alone as I feel I am.

$7.8K in Credit Debt

I am $7.8k in credit card debt. I can only afford minimum payments right now. As long as I keep paying the minimums, do I risk getting sent to collections?
