Which ports would my mom prefer?

Hi all,

I want to surprise my mom with a cruise for her birthday.

I already know which ship, but I am unsure about which itineraries would be suited for her.

Her priorities : #1 safe, #2 pretty location, #3 walkable, #4 shopping (since we do not typically do any excursions).

I am wondering if people could guide me on which week she would prefer, seeing as I do not know anything about ports.

Option 1 :

  • Philipsburg, St. Maarten
  • Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
  • Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Option 2 :

  • Nassau, Bahamas
  • George Town, Grand Cayman
  • Cozumel, Mexico
  • Costa Maya, Mexico

Thanks all for your input

Neighbor problem

Hello,

I may have messed up with my relationship with my neighbor and I need guidance.

My building has parking lots assigned for each apartment. One of my neighbors has changed apartments, so his assigned parking has been moved to next to us.

Our parking spot is different than what he had before. It is now two cars wide and two cars deep. So we park our cars on one side and he can use his space on the other side.

The problem arose on Wednesday when he came up to me to let me know that, since he has a motorcycle, he has to drive it between our cars and he might accidentally hit our cars and theirs side mirrors. He asked us to park as close to the grass as possible (so far from his side) but he was alarmingly nonchalant about the possibility of damaging our cars. I said ''Ok we will park as far as we can''. He specifically mentioned the possibility of hitting our side mirrors a few times too many during our interaction, so I figured, he must've hit mine and that's why he is telling me this.

So I check my mirrors and notice that yeah, a new scratch has appeared. Now, this is where I am in the fault, because I assumed this meant he did it. I go down to his place to talk with him, but he is absent, so I leave a note (I now know to never do this, but I'm very non-confrontational so it was almost convenient for me that he was absent...) : ''Hello, I noticed my side mirror has been hit. If you can't take your motorcycle out without damaging our cars, ask the landlords if they can give you your old parking spots back''.

Then things got, frankly, REALLY scary. He knocked on our door, gave me my crumpled letter back, told me that he did not hit my side mirrors (to which I said ''okay, no problem, all good'' [because I have no proof anyway, it's not worth arguing over], but his demeanor was extremely violent. He did not let me speak and if I tried to, he would just inch closer and closer to me. He basically just stated that if I parked my car correctly it wouldn't get hit. The whole interaction was brief but it was extremely stressful because he is a strong big man and I could never ever stand up for myself if things got violent.

What do I do from here on out ? I am worried for my wellbeing and for my cars. I am worried of what his reaction would be if he did hit our cars and caused damage. I am not sure what to do.

Edit : after this happened I asked the landlord if they could change the parking spots but they said no. I explained I had an unfortunate encounter with this man (with no details) and they want me to tell them what happened because they care about insuring peace in the building. I am not sure if sharing this story is a bad idea or if I should just shut it.

Is this poop cause for concern?

My elderly Jack Russell terrier had something weird in his poop today.

He goes to the vet every month for his arthritis injection, he takes gabapentin every day to manage his pain and he has chronic pancreatitis for which he is followed by the vet. He gets blood tests every so often and the past ones have been fine.

He had been pooping nice normal poops until a few minutes ago when I found a weird chunk of something fleshy? He eats kibble. He's been normal, although maybe a bit lethargic today.

Please advise : https://imgur.com/a/qz6fTC3

How to approach this

I (27F) had a job interview and it went great. They called me back to say that although they really liked me and I was the best candidate they had interviewed, they were going to put the job back online for a second round of interviews because I didn't have the experience needed for the job. They said they would still consider my application throughout the second round. I then received a denial email and have had no contact with them since then (1.5 months)

The job posting was then live again for the whole month of May. It just closed last week, so I'm guessing this week they are conducting interviews.

Is it annoying to send a follow-up email reminding them of my interest for the job? My brain says yes but my heart says I have nothing to lose! They had also mentioned that they would pass my name along internally for future job offers.

How should I approach this? I do not want to sound desperate. I do not have any new experience that might help me get the job. What should my email ressemble like? I don't want to be labelled as annoying and potentially hinder my future applications to this company.

Thanks

I've always been very successful academically. I've obtained my Masters degree 2 years ago, and have been struggling to find a job since then.

I've asked my family to stop prying with "how is the job search going" because they kept offering unsolicited advice (have you tried handing your cv in person? are you sure your cv is written correctly? are you writing letters of motivation and if so, please send them so I can read if they are any good). It is overall a very depressing situation to be in. I wanted to continue this journey on my own and I told them clearly that once I find a job, I will let them know.

Well, I've finally landed an interview I was *really* excited for. I decided to tell my mom, who was equally enthusiastic. Everything was fine up until I mention that I contacted my thesis supervisor for ressources that could help me prepare for the interview. My thesis supervisor has lots of work experience in the field I want to go in, so I thought it would be nice to get his council.

My mom then told me to "go do my homework now." Which, knowing how historically they have treated me with my job search (telling me "can't be that hard, only 8% of Canadians are unemployed" or "just ask your bother for help"...) was extremely souring to hear. Especially considering I've ALWAYS been a hard working individual. I feel like they think I am not working hard enough and that's why I haven't found a job.

Since this interaction with my mom, she has been actively ignoring me on all social media platforms. AIO with how I replied to her?
