Round 2 of make ABTF: pattern/ sizing recs

My measurements are (in inches):
LU: 31
SU: 30
TU: 29
SB: 39
LeaningB: 42.5
LyingB: 39.6

Please note I have a rib flare which is why my ribs look like that.

This is the Casherette Willowdale bra in a size US 30H. This time I printed out the correct size and remembered to add the stretch lace for the upper cup. The red underwire marks are from my usual EM bras I wear daily and are exactly why I am trying to make my own. All of the Ewa Michalak bras I have tried are too wide in the wires and end up sliding down despite trying multiple sizes. Sizing down cause quad boobs. Now for this drafted bra I made:

ETA: I also wanted to mention how much better it is to have the straps narrow set. You can see the friction/ hyperpigmentation marks from my previous bras which cut into my armpit.

The band is very supportive and for the first time I don’t have to rely on the straps. They are very loose here and no digging in from the straps. This is another major issue I have with bought bras.

I used the Porcelynne Vertical heavy gauge underwire in size 44 but I am wondering if I should find ones that are even narrower?

I’m not sure if the cups are slightly off and if it’s the size or the shape? Or am I just being too picky? Also, the seams seem to cut in. But I only used the liner for this so I assume the main fabric would just hide this if I had added it?

I am tall, 181cm with a long torso but I am unsure if the band should be sitting this low, or is it okay? This happens even with looser bands due to the shape of my back (upside down triangle, the band slides downward towards my waist).

I would greatly appreciate any pointers on what my next steps should be :)

Recs for affordable tinted spf? Neutral leaning cool

In a pinch I bought the Beauty of Joseon daily tinted SPF in shade LP100 (the lightest). The next shade was too orange. I assumed the fairest shade wouldn’t be too noticeable as it blends out sheer. However, looking at myself in the mirror and in my phone camera, it is noticeably a washed out pink. It does not match the rest of me!

A while ago I was recommended the supergoop protec(tint) in the shade 10n. I am sorry, but I am not willing to spend £40 on 35ml that needs to be reapplied if I spend time outside.

Any more affordable recommendations?

Issues with take up lever after putting machine back together.

To keep it short: I unscrewed the external screws (kept track of which one went where) and pried apart the plastic panels of the machine as thread snapped and got caught/ wrapped up around the internal metal components. After putting the plastic panels back together, I am having issues with the plastic piece on the left side of the lever. There are only 2 screws for this and I have placed the correct ones in the correct holes (they don’t work the other way around). No matter what I do, the placement means that the lever hits the plastic as it comes up.

Any advice please?

First ever project. Realised I made the wrong size while putting it on. Is it also the wrong shape?

I used the Willowdale Cashmerette pattern. I am narrow, projected and close set. I am still not 100% sure where my fullness lies.

My measurements are (in inches):
LU: 31
SU: 30
TU: 29
SB: 39
LeaningB: 42.5
LyingB: 39.6

My recommended size from the calculator is a UK 30GG. Sometimes I size down in a cup as the 30GG ends up being too big

From the Cashmerette size chart, I’m a 30H. I chose the 30G pattern size.

When putting on the final piece, the band was easy enough to fasten. The wires fit perfectly. The cup, however, cut my breast in half, halfway across the nipples and caused major spillage. They just popped out as soon as I moved.

Because I was making a test bra, I omitted the lace upper cup which I now realise was a huge mistake but even if I did, the cups are obviously 2+ cup sizes too small (?).

If I size up in the cup, the wires will become wider right? These ones fit me great. I am narrow and only order Polish bras because of their wires.

An additional note: I REALLY struggled with sewing through the elastic bands (especially double layers such as when folding them) and also the hook & eye fastenings. Is there a certain needle and/ or foot I’m supposed to use?

I appreciate any help :)

Finally finished my first ever (test) bra after working on it for months. When putting it on, I realised I had printed the wrong pattern size. Need help on next steps.

Edit: I just realised I posted in the wrong sub!! But I will leave the post incase anyone can help me.

I can’t add any pictures and Imgur is banned where I live, sorry.

Help with adding underwire channelling. Cashmerette Willowdale pattern.

I have been trying to follow this pattern but at times found it unclear. Someone suggested I watch this https://m.youtube.com/watch?si=PYJD2JjkTSPAkj8j&t=2662&v=mkqQ-WTHPgA&feature=youtu.be follow along video, however she is making the bra in different steps to the pattern. I have found myself a bit lost and I am unsure of how to add the channeling.

I am unable to flip the band up like the pattern instructs and I am pretty sure I sewed the seam allowance of the cup down. In the sew help sub, someone suggested to just top stitch the channelling so I don’t have to re do the seams.

Would this mean pinning down the channelling as I have done according to the instructions and then sewing on the right side (opposite side I pinned down)? Or should I do it a different way?

Bra wires are too long. What to do?

My only thought has been to trim with a wire cutter and file to smooth the sharp edge… is this the only way?

Are there patterns that go according to bust and waist measurements?

I regularly scour Vinted for Pepperberry tops in a size 10 super curvy. This is a brand that does not exist anymore so I have only had success finding 1 top.

My main issue with tops is they don’t accommodate the bust. I have no idea where to start.

I would appreciate any help :)

Hair stick etc recommendations for dense head of hair? UK

Every claw clip breaks. Every hair band or scrunchie comes loose and many have snapped. I would love to simply wrap my hair in a bun and stick a fork through it. This doesn’t work with pencils or money paintbrushes.

I don’t know if I’m making the buns too tight but it’s hard to avoid— my hair strands aren’t super thick but I have so much hair so the tension will be high very easily when wrapping into a bun. Any ideas?

Can someone recommended me suitable flats based on my fit issues with the Grounds Lily 3.0s Barefoot+?

Edit: *SHOE heel, not sore!
I ordered these in an EU 43 (UK 9?) in the wider size (barefoot+), from Happy Little Soles, which is the largest they carry for this shoe.

My measurements:
Right foot: 26.3cm length, 10cm width
Left foot: 26.6cm length, 9.6cm width

Groundies Lily 3.0 barefoot+ size UK 8.5. Frustration with barefoot size guides. Rant.

My measurements are:
Right foot: 26.3cm length, 10cm width Left foot: 26.6cm length, 9.6cm width

I’m in the UK. I ordered these from Happy Little Soles. From the size guide, I figured a size EU 42 would fit me. It is supposed to be a size UK 9. The foot measurement for length is about the same as my larger foot. No problem.

From the actual Groundies website, a size EU 42 is apparently an entire cm longer than the size guide from HLS for the same shoe. Also, an EU 42 is apparently a UK size 8.

Well the shoes arrived today and the box says these are a size UK 8.5. They are slightly too small on my left foot. The 2nd toe is hitting the front inside of the shoe when I wear it.

I understand that people may order 2 sizes and return the one that doesn’t fit but my frustration is with the actual size number not matching what I ordered. This doesn’t even match the numbers on the website.

I had this same issue with Xero Genesis. I ordered a size UK 9 from Next and it turned out to be a UK 7? What’s up with this?

If I order the Lilys from HLS, I should get the EU 43 which is a size 9.5, right? I am worried it will be too long for my right foot, which feels fine in the current ones.

Budget flats in the UK?

Hi! I’m looking for some flat/ ballerina recommendations. But many of the prices are very steep.

I saw these on Zara for £25.99 however they are not available in my size. I would also prefer black.

My measurements.
Right foot: 26.3cm length, 10cm width Left foot: 26.6cm length, 9.6cm width

Wildsole size guide fit check. Size 8 or 9?

I feel as though it’s a 9 but I’m not sure? An 8 might fit the other foot better.

The other foot is slightly smaller and I have a consistent issue with shoes (trainers/ boots) sometimes sliding back and forth when the shoes fit my left fit properly. Is this going to be much of an issue with sandals?

Foot shaped sandal with thick sole in the UK?

Repost because I accidentally included my full government name and address the first time. 383 people saw it. 😬

Anyways… I have my eye on the Earth Runners Atlas sandals but I’m not sure I can justify the £100+ price. Unless someone can confirm they’re absolutely worth it.

Where can I find a UK alternative with a thick sole?

Edit: for my foot measurements.

Right foot: 26.3cm length, 10cm width
Left foot: 26.6cm length, 9.6cm width

Has anyone been able to style jorts?

The weather is hotter and I have no shorts! The thing is I dislike ultra short shorts which I know would suit me best. I am 5’11 and have long thighs so skirts/ shorts which are a midi or above the knee length can look a bit weird but I’m willing to look weird if I can style them right.

Any ideas?

Where can I buy a real silk bonnet? With a wide headband?

This is an example I found on silksilky but I feel a bit suspicious of the £23 which seems awfully cheap.

I would prefer real silk satin over synthetic satin because the synthetic makes my head unbearably hot.

I also deal with tension headaches and the ones with the stretchy, adjustable rope string in the headband give my head hell. The wide headband would allow the tension to be spread more evenly. I have tried using a silk scarf but I found it just slides off.

If anyone knows where I can find a suitable silk bonnet, please do let me know. :)
