Cooper’s or Sharp-Shinned?

I have been so fortunate to have a family of what I thought were Cooper’s Hawks nest, fledge, then hang out in my backyard. It’s been a bloodbath of nature taking its course (RIP bunnies), but I’ve realized I’m unsure if they’re actually sharp-shinned or cooper’s? I know the pics are awful, but could anyone help me ID? These should all be the juveniles based on their bold and awkward behavior. I’m in Central Kentucky, U.S.

The four o clock “switch”

Every day around 3-4 o clock, as I’m approaching the end of my work day or even if I’m at home on an off day, all my resolve to quit evaporates. I’m so determined and then something in my brain does a complete switch to use just about anything to justify picking up some “motivational” beer on the way home. Got a lot of laundry? Maybe I’ll drink then and get through it. Gotta put away dishes? Eh, I’ll start my “day 1” tomorrow then. I become unable to cope with the fact I’m going to go home, make dinner, watch TV then get in bed. I’d rather listen to music and drink and find “things” to do around the house. I have to break this daily cycle of justifying slowly killing myself. I was going to quit 8 weeks before a big international trip coming up, and I’m already down to it being 6 weeks away. I know I can do this. I think…

TLDR: I need some advice on how to resist deciding to drink in the evening as my resolve dissipates. The crushing realization that I’ll have a “boring” evening leads me to drink each day. Any thoughts on how to power through?

Taxidatum or…?

If I need to schedule a couple of rides, say from the Cusco airport to Ollantaytambo or vice versa, is Taxidatum the best route to go? I would not be using them for any information or tours, just transportation. Are they still good to use for that?

Two quick questions...

I have a 12 day solo trip to Peru in August. For some reason, nothing I post here ever gets any traction, so I'll try again by simply asking, has anyone heard of Salkantay Trekking? Not the route, but the company? It's who I have booked two of my day-trips (one to MP and one of the Sacred Valley) but I can't find anything about them in this sub. They seem legit, just never mentioned here. My second question is I have left probably 3 days of my 7 day stay in Cusco open. Should I leave them that way so I can walk around and explore? Or should I look into filling those days with 3-4 hour trips like horsebackriding to the Temple of the Moon or other similar activities? Thanks for any insight; I'm nervous as this is my first time planning and traveling alone.

When I visited Cuba last year, I just loved the yuca root at various places we stopped and this is my first time finding it in an American grocery store. I’m trying to cook it, but has it gone bad? I just realized I can’t post a picture… But when I sliced it in half length wise, the top inside about an inch wide is brown and there’s a little bit of brown going all the way down halfway… I was told there should be zero streaking and it should be all white.

Well I haven’t booked it YET. But has my yuca root gone bad? I don’t want to cook it if it’s not viable. I’ve never prepared it before but I loved it when I visited Cuba last year.

I was moving a geode from my railing and noticed some webbing. Realized I had inadvertently picked up someone’s home! Took these pics then tucked the geode into and outdoor windowsill in anticipation of pretty chilly nights this weekend 🥹

I can't decide whether or not to have the little hotel I'm staying at arrange for my pickup at Cusco airport or to schedule a pickup through Taxidatum. They'd be taking me from the airport to Ollantaytambo, and the hotel arrangement is $51 whereas Taxidatum is $35. Price isn't a huge deal, but, I can't seem to finalize a decision. Anyone have a thought on this?

This is my first big solo trip. I added my stay in Ollantaytambo after having already booked the non-refundable day-trips from Cusco, so there’s that lol. Otherwise does this seem pretty OK for a solo 40m who’s into culture and food and the like? I’m half super excited and half terrified so any tips or advice are more than welcome! less
