Can I book a cruise for a mother in law to get credit for my account?

My mother in law just decided she'd like to join the wife and I for a cruise. Its unlikely that she'll ever want to cruise again, so is it possible to book FOR her so we get the credit on our latitudes account? (I assume the answer is no, but figured it couldn't hurt to ask)

Can you use NCL Cruise First certificates on a Direct Line Cruises booking?

Found a great deal on Direct Line cruises for a sailing we want to take, but it only gives the option to pay the deposit with a Credit Card. Is it possible to use a Cruise first certificate I've already purchased?

Anyone know what these filled in semicircles on every stoop on our street are?

Every brick building on our street has one of these round holes under the front door that has been filled in. Any ideas what they used to be? My initial guess was coal chute but I cant imagine you’d put that under the middle of the front door. People’s clothes would get filthy!

Whats the day to day difference with a Haven suite?

I know you get the exclusive pool and restaurant, but are there any other differences to the overall cruise experience? Is the bed/physical amenities any different beyond having a lot more space?

Would anyone support a ban on “what should I see” posts? We get multiple every day.

Maybe a pinned thread instead?

For those who love the original version of Cats, what about it resonates for you?

My wife was asking how the show was so popular for so long, and since Ive never seen the original version, I have nothing to offer. So for those of you who love the original version, what about it do you love?

No judgement here, just fact finding!

My wife ESPECIALLY wants to hear from folks who dont consider themselves big musical theater fans

Did anyone actually have trouble getting a train home from BTS last night?

I know they were delayed & crowded but I saw a lot of concern that there flat out wouldn’t be enough trains as people had filtered in on earlier trains through the day . Did everyone make it out okay?

Need a suggestion for a decent 27x40 backing for a bunch of 3x5 stickers

I'm getting a ton of 3x5 stickers of playbills for shows I've seen that I'm going to put in a pair of 27x40" frames. I'm trying to now work out what the best idea for a 27x40" backing to actually stick the stickers to inside the frame would be. Or is it better to not stick them but simply lay them all face down against the pane of plexiglass and just let the frame hold them in place?

Whats an example of a show that falls under each star rating for you?

The system is:

⭐️: never wanna see it again

⭐️⭐️: Would go again if someone gave me a free ticket

⭐️⭐️⭐️: Id pay again if someone invited me

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: I want to take someone else to see it

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: I want everyone to see it!!!

Two show Day Review (Cats & Rocky Horror)

My dog Coco loves hanging out at the ART in Boston but sadly can’t visit Broadway so I had to take Flat Coco in her stead!

For the matinee, we did Cats the Jellicle Ball. I was extremely excited for this given all that ive been hearing about it and have never actually seen Cats in any form before. I was shocked at how much I personally didn’t care for it. Cats as a piece of writing is just INCREDIBLY dull, and since I dont have a personal connection to ballroom or that community, all I could think was: ‘Wow these are really talented dancers wearing brilliant costumes.’ But much like when I see Oh Mary as a cis straight man, I can tell that a layer of the show is going over my head.

Also, I was deeply disappointed by the rendition of Memory, though that was the only issue I had with anyone’s actual performance.

I technically had an obstructed seat house right, but aside from the occasional actor in the right hand box, I dont feel as though I missed anything. Please dont take my personal preference as any reflection on whether or not the show is good, I think it just wasn’t for me and my expectations were too high

My evening show was Rocky Horror which I liked a bit better. I adored Luke Evans as Frank n Furter & Rachel Dratch was hilarious! As someone who spent four years in college as Brad Majors in a shadowcast, this show has a special place in my heart.

The word if use to describe this is “serviceable”. Just seemed like they wanted to do a high quality version of the campy/goofy movie. It never really reached that second subversive/satirical level that Richard O’ Brien intended. The show was originally meant as a satire of American’s bizarre sexual repression before the (objectively badly made and edited) movie became a cult classic.

Ultimately, Id give Cats 2 stars and Rocky Horror 3 stars

My system is:
1 star: I never wanna see it again
2 stars: Id go again if someone gave me a free ticket
3 stars: If someone invited me, Id buy another ticket to go with them
4 stars: I want to take someone else to share the show with them
5 stars: I want EVERYONE to see this show!

Does the Broadhurst have the worst Bathroom situation on Broadway?

I know intermission lines are always terrible, but Ive never seen a pre-show traffic jam as bad as Cats today! The bathrooms are way too small for a 1000+ seat venue & there is just no room for lines to form especially together with merch AND bar in the tiny basement room! Even the Lyceum at least has multiple sets of bathrooms so everyone isnt crammed in one spot

How many copies of the IMAX film print did the Back to the Future rides have?

Given that they were running that film hundreds of times per day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, they must have gone through those film prints fairly quickly just through routine wear and tear…I wonder how many copies of the film they kept on site!

Are any IMAX documentaries specifically filmed for Omnimax domes?

I recall some of the dome films when I was younger naturally wrapped around as though they were filmed with a fish eye lens as opposed to every film ive seen the last few years which have definitely just been flat images simply stretched across the dome.

Have there been/are there currently any IMAX docs that were filmed specifically for the dome?

Did this book even have an editor?!?

The factual inaccuracies are stunning. Im only a few pages in and Ive already found a bunch of blatantly wrong Info.

The Apollo Theater wasn’t built to replace the original Lyric (they were next door)

The Sondheim theater wasn’t first called the Henry Miller’s theater in 2001

The Belasco doesnt seat 1500 (like half that)

Paranormal Activity seating tips

Just came from Paranormal Activity at the Colonial in Boston. We were side Dress Circle and missed several key reveals so tried going up to center balcony for act II but wound up missing a bunch in the first scene of Act II. So we left to come back another day with better seats to preserve the scares in the rest of the show.

If you haven’t bought tickets yet, I strongly suggest center orchestra or dress circle (dress circle probably being best)

Please no comments to avoid any spoilers! Just offering advice!

[Carowinds] How do their state inspections work

Given that the park straddles two states, how do their state inspections work? Is it up to whichever state the ride’s station is in? Do they just have NC inspect everything (even the ones on the SC side of the line?)

I only noticed the inspection tag on Hurler which said it was inspected by NC, so I know NC at least does SOME of the inspections!

Very niche carnival question

I know walk through fun houses are ubiquitous At European carnivals, but does anyone know if any of the carnivals making the New England circuit have one? Mirror mazes would also scratch the itch.
