Fireworks in Rogue Valley, So-OR, July 2004

i hiked up a local trail in Ashland (White Rabbit) around 1300FT above the valley floor, found a tree stump to plop my camera on, and waited. first shot is looking west towards Medford, second shot is looking north over Ashland. The olden days digital shots have a lot of noise which adds a bit of nostalgia to the pics, for me anyway. Hiking back down at night was a little scary as every lizard and rabbit that skittered around in the dry leaves sounded like at least a 1 ton brown bear ;)

does anybody else’s bunny do this?

whenever her head is down in the box and a sound is made she’ll pop up and look around. just thought it was cute

cubic zirconias after cone 5 glaze fire

i used a 6mm punch and 8mm gems. flat side facing inside. they seem unaffected by the temp and cast happy little rainbows when the sun hits them. still working on the glaze application near the rocks - trying to avoid getting any on them, and i lost some of the glaze wiping things around before firing, hence the slightly bare spots on the outside. 5x20 clear inside, one of the amaco fake shinos on the outside.

first successful bisque with CZ inlays. the pieces are glaze firing now. may the kiln demons be asleep tonight 😅

this has been challenging as the zirconia are bigger than my rubies two fold. before i did it i thought they would be easier to work with, but they are actually a bit tricky. i had several batches where they just would fall out when i unload the bisque, but today after some iterations and learning they seem pretty solid in there. fingers crossed. if it works ill post happy little rainbows tomorrow with what ended up working.

middle pic is sunlight, other two are using led.
