What is old age like for the races of 40K?

Obviously some races don't age at all - like the Necrons & creatures of the warp.

But for the other races, what do we know about the effects of aging?

Humans obviously become frail & wither slightly.

I have heard that the Aeldari crystalize & ossify as they get older.

What about the Orks? Do Orks suffer any effects from aging?

How about the T'au? Are they similar to how humans age? Do we know anything about old Kroot or Vespid?

Are there any other races in 40K (even non-playable ones) where we know about the effects of aging?

Quake 2 Horde Mode

Sometimes I play Quake 2 (remastered on Steam) and in the deathmatch games there is sometimes a really cool horde mode - it looks like a normal deathmatch level in the "join game" list, but when you play its a coop horde shooter. But quite often its not there to join.

Does anyone know more about this horde mode? I would love to play more of it.

In what conflicts have the Aeldari & T'au directly worked together?

I am aware of Craftworld Lugganath teaming up with the T'au to defeat the Tyranid Hive Fleet Gorgon.

I was wondering if there were any other times mentioned in the lore that these two factions have worked together.

I'm looking for them mutually cooperating, not just the Aeldari tricking the T'au into fighting for them.

Loving these cinematic compilations of Quake footage

I've really been loving these videos of Quake footage, well edited & put together, with awesome music over the top:

Quake done Quickest Lite (The Movie)

The Ultimate Quake Frag Video

Do you know of any more like this? Is there a specific term for these kinds of movies? Please let me know if there is more of this, it's awesome!

[OoT] Would you want to see the Master Quest included in the Remake of Ocarina of Time?

I've been playing thru the OoT Master Quest on the Gamecube. It's been a great experience.

For those that don't know, the Master Quest is the same as the normal game of Ocarina of Time, except the dungeons all work very differently.

The layout of the dungeons is the same, but enemy placements, puzzles, switches, items, chests & everything else has been changed. To the point where progression through the dungeons is totally different, and quite often requires a lot of 'out of the box' thinking. The difficulty of puzzles & enemy encounters are definitely increased as well.

Would you want this Master Quest included in the Remake?

I don't understand the hate for this film.

Much of the hate seems to be centred around the film's historical inaccuracies. Which seems weird to me, as ALL historical adaptations take liberties with their source material.

  • Filmmakers often compress events that took years, decades, or even centuries into a few days, or stitch together moments from entirely different eras.
  • Real people from the past are often simplified into archetypal heroes and villains.
  • Fictional characters are often invented to bridge the gap between historical events, or they merge multiple historical figures into one.
  • Historical dress, weaponry and armour are frequently inaccurate to the time.
  • These kinds of movies often oversimplify complex geopolitical conflicts into basic morality tales.
  • And with the exception of Apocalypto, there is no historical adaptation that keeps true to the language spoken at them.

It's called an adaptation. It's being adapted for a modern audience.

It seems nuts to me to ignore all of these facts, and just start hating on a movie NOBODY HAS SEEN YET, because it isn't historically accurate. You can take literally any historical movie and find historical inaccuracies in it - there are entire Youtube channels & books dedicated to this.

Not to mention the movie is based on a story.

It seems like so many people have made up their mind about this film before even giving it a chance. Whatever happened to not judging a book by its cover?

How does the xenomorph hunt?

They don't seem to have much in the way of eyes. Are they blind or partially sighted?

Do they hunt by scent or sound?

If they hunt by smell, wouldn't they have found Newt?

Or do they have some other sense that they hunt by?

Does the Oort Cloud extend between the stars and fill our Galaxy?

The Oort Cloud is suggested to exist around our Sun, a region of asteroids that extends far beyond the Kuiper Belt.

This got me thinking, is it possible that other solar systems also have an Oort Cloud?

Which lead me to: is it possible that all of space within our galaxy is filled with a vast singular Oort Cloud?

Like, there isn't an individual Oort Cloud for each star, but one massive connected Oort Cloud between the stars? I'm thinking that all space within our galaxy, except areas around stars themselves (anything within the Heliosphere for instance), is filled with a very sparse but consistent "cloud" of asteroids.

Would this help to explain the missing mass that would be required to keep galaxies from flying apart, ie. Dark Matter?

I know this is all speculative, but I was just wondering if this random thought was at all possible, or even something that astrophysicists were looking into.

Where is the largest concentration of Orks?

Orks can be found everywhere across the galaxy, but some places have more Orks than others.

In the lore, has there ever been a reference to the largest gathering of Orks or the highest concentration of Orks in the galaxy?

I know there's no population data to sort through, but any in-universe account or information from one of the Codexes or similar about where the most Orks are would be idea.

Looking for a specific named place (like perhaps the Octarius system), the current time of 40/41k would be preferred, but doesn't have to be in the current time, could be at anytime (like maybe Ullanor before it was crushed by the Emperor). The answer could even be relative to a certain named character (for example "wherever the Beast was" or "wherever Ghazghkull is").

If you could help I would be grateful.

Which Tau auxiliary force would you like to see more lore on? (That is currently lacking in lore)

I'm not really talking about the Kroot, Vespid or Gue'vesa here.

Of all the other auxiliary Tau forces, who haven't been as well developed in the lore, would you like to see more of?

The Nicassar? The Thraxians? The Vorgh? Any others?

Darktide: How to Git Gud - a quick guide for new players

There's a lot of new players out there, and Darktide is an unusual game with a very high skill ceiling and a lot of basic concepts that are poorly explained.

Here are 2 excellent videos that take you through the basics, step by step:

The ULTIMATE guide for new players by Reginald

Darktide 101: How to be GOOD at Combat by JoPlaysGames

If you just want 3 bullet points to improve your game, they are:

  • STICK WITH YOUR TEAM! (definitely the most important take away, loners die fast!)
  • Use your Melee weapon by default. (This is not an FPS with melee abilities, this is a melee focused game with some guns.)
  • Learn the movement mechanics! (Dodging, sliding & sprinting are key to surviving. Don't tank hits, avoid them!)

There is a lot more skills to be found & improved in the gameplay of Darktide, but just employing these 3 things into your game will help you improve considerably.

There are so many new players out there just treating this game as any other First Person Shooter. This is not how Darktide works. It is melee game with guns, learn the melee mechanics as soon as you can (pushing, blocking & heavy attacks are all essential & very powerful when used at the right time).

There is are 2 big Discord servers for Darktide which are both excellent place to get your questions answered, learn the more advanced mechanics and team up with more experienced players.

Darktide Discord Server

JoPlaysGames Discord Server

Finally, Darktide generally has a good community who are very helpful and want others to improve & succeed. Trust in your team mates and the other players, this is a game about working together, not lone heroes and one-man-armies.

Treat others with respect, be prepared to learn some new gameplay skills and welcome to the most rewarding co-op shooter around.

It's amazing how much of a difference good team mates make...

Was playing a bunch of games last night with a friend. We're both alright at the game, we are not top tier elite players, but we have both put in hundreds of hours, usually play around the Damnation / Auric difficulty, we have completed a few Auric Maeltroms in the past, and we both know the mechanics of the game & know our classes very well.

We decided to do some "warm up" missions at Damnation difficulty. We kept getting matched with players who were either lvl 20-27 or lvl 30 players with garbage weapons that weren't upgraded at all.

Within the first 5 minutes of the game, one of both of these players would be dead. Every single time.

There were times when it seemed like our team mates didn't even understand the game. Just shooting and ignoring melee. Running off on their own. Lagging behind to explore every nook & cranny. Shooting pox bursters when they were up close. Not bothering to deploy health packs / ammo crates when they were needed.

Me and my friend are alright at the game, but not good enough to play thru a Damnation mission with only (what felt like) 2.5 players.

After half a dozen mission failures as a result of inadequate players joining, we then went on and tried an Auric mission. We got teamed up with 2 lvl 30 players, fully upgraded weapons, who both obviously knew what they were doing. The mission was much harder, but everyone completed it because everyone knew what they were doing.

It just amazed me at how many people there are who either want to be carried thru a Damnation mission or just don't understand the fundamental basics of the game, but have somehow got to lvl 30.

Sometimes it would be nice to play thru some less hectic missions than what Auric offers, but then you can't complete the mission because 50% of the team don't know how to play.

Has anybody else experienced anything similar?

If you were to connect the 3 different parts of the Triforce (Power / Wisdom / Courage) to the 3 different Timelines (Adult / Child / Downfall), what would you pick and why?

Eg. The Downfall Timeline most respresents the Triforce of Courage because this is where Link lost and courage is needed (bad example, but I hope you get what I mean).
