Fellow vegetarian/vegan friends, what are your favorite meals?
Caramelized Mushroom Quesadilla, Tofu Green Curry and Baked Tofu Tikka Masala have been some of my go-tos as of late.

My 2.5-year-old German Shepherd is very anxious and is fearful of a laundry list of triggers — e-scooters, strangers, loud noises/music, sudden movements, etc. We live in a busy neighborhood, so every walk is almost guaranteed to include a run-in with one of those triggers. She pulls on the leash so hard to the point that I've injured a foot trying to “brake” myself. I've had her since she was 9 weeks old and can confirm that she was never abused or harmed, so it may be genetics.
We've met with trainers but haven't seen much progress (no behaviorist in town, unfortunately). She is unfazed by treats when she's out of the house. She's just as anxious and pulls just as hard when we're sitting to observe the surroundings. But she still has a lot of puppy energy, so I try to walk her 2-3 miles/day plus an hour at the dog park, where she generally does well.
After the traditional anxiety mitigation tactics didn't work, her vet recommended we start Prozac/Fluoxetine. She weighs 65 lbs., so we started her on a low dose of 30mg/day roughly 3 months ago. The 30mg dosage turned her into a zombie (lethargic to the point of sleeping all day). So we titrated down to 10mg/day, then increased to 20mg/day last month and last week returned to 30mg/day. The lethargy is back, but I'm trying to wait it out as I know there's an adjustment period. But I'm starting to lose hope.
But if anything, her anxiety and the leash pulling seem to be getting worse rather than better.
I hate seeing her so anxious and scared. Even when there are no triggers around, she still pulls to get back toward my building. I try to remain calm but admittedly become frustrated, especially when I can't calm her down. And I don't want to keep her inside the house 24/7.
Am I overlooking any potential alternative medication or training strategies? At what point do I give up on Prozac?
I recently received an invoice for a guest parking validation in the retail section of my apartment’s parking garage, which is managed by Metropolis. But I was not home, nor did I have any guests on the date the validation was used.
To redeem the discounted rate, I show my QR code to my guest to scan. They must create a Metropolis account to redeem the discount. I very rarely have guests who need parking. My parents were the only ones who had even seen the QR code, and they had never used it. They also weren’t in town on the date the guest parking was used.
After asking for more information, the Metropolis rep provided the date, time and license plate, but not the vehicle make and model. I combed through all of my texts and emails from the week before the validation date to see if I had somehow forgotten about sharing the code with someone. I know I did not.
After explaining that there was no way my code had been used, they voided the invoice but insisted the only way it could have been used was if I shared it with someone.
They also permanently canceled the guest parking code and said I wouldn’t be issued a new one. So I now have no way for overnight guests to park for a reasonable rate.
Has anyone else encountered something like this with Metropolis? It must be a glitch in their system, or they inadvertently sent the same code to someone else. I appreciate that they removed the charge, but their response was very much “we’ll let it slide this time, but don’t do it again.”
I swam in middle and high school (rec and school teams) and have for years toyed with the idea of joining my city’s masters swim club but have always chosen running instead. Last month, I developed a frustrating toe injury that has made me revisit the idea of getting back in the water. I run 20-30 miles/week and completed a half marathon earlier this year, so I’m in good shape. However, I know swimming will require much more of my body in terms of endurance and upper body strength. I do moderate strength training 4-5 days/week, but my upper body strength is definitely lacking.
I was on the heavier side as a kid, so I was far from the fastest on the team, and I’m not the most competitive by nature, but I really miss swimming and am excited by the prospect of starting again.
Have any formerly swimming runners started back swimming? I’d love to hear your experience.
This was my first time seeing Ari live, so the show gave me a new appreciation for many of the songs on the setlist. Personally, I’ve had Safety Net on repeat.
I previously had an annual Cam Plus subscription (2 for 2 cams) that I purchased via the iOS App Store. When that expired, I resubscribed (again for 2 cams) via Wyze’s website today and am now unable to see both feeds on the web view. I’m able to select two cams to attach to the plan, but only one will show the live feed — the other is grayed out with a lock icon on it. What is going on? I’ve reset both devices.
The pandemic had a huge impact on so many facets of day-to-day life, both during lockdown and in the subsequent waves of variants.
Did the period of isolation temporarily or permanently change your music tastes or listening habits? Were there any songs or albums that you listened to on repeat that you can’t listen to now due to the feelings and memories they invoke?
So many restaurants came and went during Nashville’s “It City” era (which I think spanned most of the 2010s). Which would one/ones do you miss and wish were still around?
I’m paying USAA $170/month for full coverage. I have a good/newish car and clean record with limited driving around town. I’ve been blindly renewing my policy for 10+ years and am considering shopping around. I’m curious what others are paying.
This is one of the most frustrating InDesign issues I’ve dealt with in quite some time. Text boxes — with the same font, style, everything — are showing blurry/jagged text on some pages/in some text boxes but not others in a 60 page document. I can’t determine a cause. It would be easier to troubleshoot if it was only noticeable in the PDF export, but it’s visible in the program as well. Are there any possible solutions I should try?
UPDATE: it seems to be PNG images that are causing the problem. If anyone knows how to fix this, I am all ears.
I looked at the Ascend Amphitheater schedule after the David Byrne concert last night (May 9th) and realized the next show isn’t until June 8th. A hiatus of that length seems odd for an outdoor venue. Is this normal? Or new management (Ryman)? Or just a scheduling quirk?
