I own a house with my brother. What should the plan be if one of us wants out?

My brother and I bought a house together when we were in our early 20s. We are now both pushing 30, and he has a serious girlfriend. I imagine they will want to move into their own place at some point. I may want to continue living in the house, so selling it and splitting the profit isn't the solution. I can afford to pay the entire mortgage payment.

Currently owe about $160k, mortgage interest rate is 2.99%.

FRR OSPF routes not installed in main routing table after upgrade to 26.07

I recently upgraded an old SG-4860-1U to 26.07. The upgrade seems to have completed successfully, but upon restart, none of the FRR OSPF routes were working.

  • Status > FRR showed the OSPF routes fine, and the neighborship was FULL. The neighbors also received routes from PfSense correctly.
  • Diagnostics > Routes DID NOT display any of the OSPF routes from FRR
  • BGP routes came up fine, showing in FRR status, Diagnostic > Routes and working.

I ultimately restarted FRR, and the OSPF routes were installed in the main routing table as normal.

The link running OSPF is a normal Ethernet link with a VLAN tag, and a /30 mask. OSPF network type is PtP, and the neighbors are statically defined. Unfortunately I don't have any logs since my syslog server is only reachable via an OSPF route.

Vehicle broke down and unprofessional host: another Turo horror story

Thought I would share my recent horror story with Turo.

We rented a Ford pickup on Maui. Rental cars are notoriously expensive in Hawaii, and Turo seemed like a good option to save a couple hundred dollars. We also planned to drive the Road to Hana, and figured the extra ground clearance and 4WD might be beneficial.

When we got to the vehicle it was dirty, smelled like cigarette smoke and had 108,000 miles! Why Turo won't display the vehicle's mileage is beyond me. I figured we were getting a somewhat new truck since it was only 3 years old. We also had to pay $24 since the vehicle had been dropped off in the airport parking lot the night before.

We stopped for food in Kahului and then headed towards the hotel (about a 2hr drive from the city), and the truck was driving fine. About 45 minutes in, all the warning lights came on and the engine died. When I tried to restart it, the starter cranked but the engine would not fire. We were on a narrow country road, so I had to coast backwards with no power brakes or power steering for about a half-mile to the nearest pullout.

At this point I figured I would take a look under the hood. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, so if it was something simple like a blown fuse, I might be able to get us going. The truck was a mess under the hood. The engine wiring harness had clearly been hacked together, there were obvious repairs in multiple places. I quickly decided that there was no chance of getting this fixed on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere, with no tools.

There was no cell service where we were stranded, so we had to walk a half-mile to a nearby business and use their Wi-Fi to call the host. The host was noticeably upset, and tried to convince us that the vehicle was out of gas. He confirmed he had personally filled it up before leaving it at the airport, we had only driven 45 minutes, and there was no sign of a fuel leak, so this was impossible. Finally the host agreed that it wasn't going anywhere and said he would be out with a AAA tow truck.

About an hour and a half later, the host rolls up in a Nissan 370Z, and claims the tow truck is right behind him. One of us will ride in the truck, the other with him (there were 2 of us plus luggage, and the 370Z is a 2-seater sports car). While we're waiting, the host smokes multiple cigarettes and drinks a beer. After about an hour, AAA calls the host, but of course there isn't good enough cell service to hear anything. Host leaves to go to the business with Wi-Fi. Upon returning, the host informs us that AAA can't figure out where the vehicle is and there's no tow truck on the way. He suggests that we all pile into the 370Z and he'll take us to the airport. I declined his offer and asked if he could drive one of us back to the business to call an Uber/Lyft. Multiple Ubers and Lyfts cancel because of the remote location, and we give up.

So we manage to cram everything into the 370Z. I'm sitting on my travel partner's lap, with a bag on my lap. We ride 45 minutes back to Kahului airport, during which the host is arguing with AAA on speakerphone. AAA explains that the vehicle has already had the maximum number of free tows for the year, and he would have to pay a fee. The host isn't having any of that and keeps insisting they should send one for free.

We somehow make it to the airport. To top off the whole experience, as we're unloading our luggage, the host hops out of the car and takes a piss on the floor of the airport's rental car garage. We begged and pleaded at the rental car counters (pretty much everything was sold out), finally Budget rents us a car for about $300 more than what I paid on Turo.

Late that night when we finally make it to our hotel, I called Turo to make sure a refund was on the way like the host had claimed. Turo says they need to confirm with the host that the vehicle is back in their possession, but of course he won't answer their calls. I had timestamped pictures and videos of the car broken down, so I didn't worry too much. This goes on for the next 3 days. I call in and Turo claims they still can't get a hold of the guy. On day 4, I called the host directly and begged him to answer when Turo calls. Finally he answers and confirms what happened. The refund arrives shortly after.

Overall, I'm $300 and most of a vacation day in the hole. This will be my first and last time using Turo. Next time I'll pay for a legit rental car, I don't care how much extra it costs.

Issues with USA Sapphire Preferred (Visa Signature) at gas stations in EU, asking for PIN

Has anyone experienced their Sapphire Preferred getting declined at most gas stations in the EU? Once in a while it works, usually it asks for a PIN. I’ve called Chase and they claim there’s no way to set up a PIN. I tried my zip code, but that doesn’t work.

Amex Blue Cash Preferred works every time, but it has a foreign transaction fee.

Anyone know what to expect with a Wrangler or similar rental at PDX?

Best used MacBook to buy now?

I was looking at getting a Neo, but waited too long and now it’s $800 for the 512GB Touch ID model. That got me wondering if buying used would be a better option.

My main concern with buying used is longevity. I don’t want something that’s going to be unsupported in a year or two, which rules out M1 and Intel.

I don’t have any crazy requirements, although I would like 512GB of storage.

What’s the best blend of value and long-term support currently?

Issues running Cisco IOU-XE L2 images - GNS3

I have tried all three of the supported IOL-XE versions of the IOU L2 appliance and none are working. L3 images work just fine in the IOU L3 appliance, so I don't think its an issue with my .iourc file.

When I run the appliance in GNS3, I get IOU VM "IOU4" process has stopped with return code: -6

When I run it directly from the shell I get the below error about missing NETMAP:

root@gns3vm:/opt/gns3/images/IOU# ./x86_64_crb_linux-adventerprisek9-ms.iol 1
IOS On Unix - Cisco Systems confidential, internal use only
netio error: unable to open NETMAP: No such file or directory

I've ensured the netmap kernel module is loaded and it seems that it is:

root@gns3vm:~# lsmod | grep netmap
netmap 225280 0

The server is running GNS3 2.2.55 bare-metal on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Sonarr unable to find any releases for any episode of SpongeBob Squarepants

For some reason I cannot get Sonarr to display any releases for SpongeBob Squarepants. I am using NZBGeek and NZBFinder, both are working fine for many other shows.

The log shows that releases are found:

2026-05-27 18:39:04.0|Info|ReleaseSearchService|Searching indexers for [SpongeBob SquarePants : S01]. 2 active indexers
2026-05-27 18:39:14.3|Info|DownloadDecisionMaker|Processing 625 releases
2026-05-27 18:45:00.5|Info|ReleaseSearchService|Searching indexers for [SpongeBob SquarePants : S11E01]. 2 active indexers
2026-05-27 18:45:01.3|Info|DownloadDecisionMaker|Processing 34 releases

But none of them ever show in the GUI

I have the quality profile set to one that contains all possible options, and there is no release profile applied.

I'm relatively new to Sonarr, so please help me figure out where to look next.

Are you still trying to enforce monogamy for unprotected sex?

PrEP covers the HIV risk, but obviously there are other nasty things that only condoms are effective against. What is your policy for consensual unprotected sex when both partners are on PrEP?

Has anyone ever taken a mental health break from life? Did it help or hurt?

Late 20s, male.

I've struggled with anxiety and depression since I was a child, and have been on a low does of an SSRI for over a decade. I tried several different therapists as a teenager but didn't find it to be beneficial. I've always just self-managed through physical activity, keeping a strict routine, staying busy etc. That's mostly worked well until recently.

At the end of 2024, I changed jobs. The new job was far better on paper (closer to home, better pay, less hours), but isn't nearly as fast-paced or challenging as my old one. As a result, I've had a lot more free time, which seems to have caused me to fall into a bit of slump. I've started feeling like life is passing me by. Friends are getting married, moving away, in healthy relationships etc. I'm still living in the same town I was born in and am stuck in a not so healthy relationship with someone I don't love.

Recently I had a thought: what if I "quit" life for a year or two, travel around, see the world and potentially land in a different city. In my imagination, this would allow me to re-invent myself and get out of the sad little bubble I live in currently. I think this same sort of thing happens during college for a lot of people. I worked full-time and went to college in my hometown, so I missed that opportunity.

Money isn't an issue. I have $120,000 in savings, without touching my 401k. My job is also not something that is hard to find, there is plenty of work in any city.

I'm just not sure if this is a healthy choice or not. I worry that its just some sort of diversion of my feelings and won't help the underlying issue. Has anyone done something similar? How did it work out?
