Ok - Camp ended Friday and now I'm looking at 3 weeks with nothing to do for the kids - plus the first week of school is 100% half days (which is a whole other load of bs). Does anyone have any clue what to do / where to send our kids for the next 3 weeks - so far they have been up like 3 hours and it's chaos.
I have my daughter turning 9 and my wife turning 40 in Boston this week.
We are staying in beacon hill.
Any recommendations on restaurants for both occasions. One being my daughter so something unique, cool, fun, maybe milkshakes or cupcakes for desert etc.
And then the other for my wife. Something classic, fancy, old school or rooftop.
Easy travel from hotel in beacon hill would be ideal.
Hey all - I'm starting a watch broker business - buying and selling luxury watches. I can't figure out which name I like best and figured this might be a good place to start - appreciate the votes!
I resigned from my current position. The VP of Sales jumped on with me and the manager and asked me if I would be comfortable giving "2 weeks notice" and working with them on transition for the next 2 weeks. I agreed since I like the team and said I could make another 2 weeks work no problem - I informed my new job and they were ok with a pushed back start date.
Next thing I know my access is shut down about 24 hours later and an email from HR saying I'm only going to get paid for the 2 days (resignation day and the day after).
My question is... should i be getting paid for the 2 weeks legally - and if not - should i file for 2 weeks worth of unemployment?
Live in NJ - work in NJ - company based out of Florida if that helps.
I’m 41 my wife is 39 We bring home roughly 300k a year in HCOL - (NYC area)
I’m looking for some guidance as we have zero strategy in place for retirement and have been kind of just winging it until now. 2 kids under 10 in public school. We know we are most likely not going to stay around NYC during retirement and will most likely move south for a condo / golf / pool type spot.
This is what our current set up looks like:
Me:
401k- 15000
IRA - 9000
Robinhood trading - 25k(bitcoin and ind stocks)
Coinbase - 10k - bitcoin
Schwabb - Idv Stocks - 18000
HYSA - 66000
Checking - 5000
Bring in about 150-200k a year
Her:
401k - 210000
Robinhood trading - 20000
Savings - 55000
Inherited IRA from grandma - 60000
Inherited IRA from Dad - 130000
Brings in 130k a year and holds the benefits
Bills/debt
Mortgage and insurance 3000/mo
Mortgage 2.2% rate
Mortgage 580k mortgage with 390000 left on it.
Home worth approx - 900,000 now
Mortgage is done in 24 years
Groceries - Roughly 1100 a month
Uber Eats - 300 a month
Coffee - 250/ month (I know I know - but it’s so good.)
Streaming and internet - 250/ month
Car1 - 600/mo lease
Car 2 - paid off
Car insurance - 300/ mo
Summer camp - 3000 year
Travel soccer - 2000 year
Health Benefits are $400 a month for a family plan pre-tax.
Other than mortgage - no debt - cc’s and student loans have been paid.
Future:
As of right now it looks as though we will be inheriting 3 homes from parents
Home 1 - paid off - 800k (split with Sister so 400k to me)
Home 2 - Mortgage - 1000000 - home has a 500k mortgage left
Home 3 - Paid off 400000
(all of this is when our parents pass though so can’t really be added to retirement plans)
As it stands right now according to IRS website - we will be receiving 6000 a month via Social Security.
The big questions:
How do I structure investments / consolidate accounts for ease
Where are my biggest gaps
What am I missing?
Am I ever going to retire?
Any help is much appreciated and direct honest feedback encouraged.
