I want to drive from Sydney to Melbourne

I’m picking up a mazda3 on friday and i just got my p’s. I’m relatively confident and a very safe driver, and I’ve always wanted to go to melbourne but just havent gotten to it. I figured in the near future is a better time than never, but I have a couple questions.

  1. what are the road/drive conditions like? is it a decent drive, challenging, or a snoozefest?
  2. i havent driven longer than 3 hours in one trip. because of this i think i might either do a 4 hr lap, rest for a few hours, and do another 4h OR stay overnight about halfway. what do you guys think? are there any safe and reputable motels that are good for a single young woman to stay at?
  3. are there any rest stops on the way that are better than others? any towns that are fun to visit?
  4. is this actually a good idea for someone who just got their p’s or should i slow down and try a shorter trip first?

edit: thanks for all the advice!! i am going to wait until i get my greens p’s in a year, or till i get my full licence to do the drive just so i can legally drive fast enough. i also want to build my experience on rural roads first since ive been driving on mainly suburb/urban roads.

Any recipe ideas for a pretzel ice cream?

I want to make a pretzel ice cream, using packaged snacking pretzels not fresh ones. I want to make a pretzel infused base (like cereal milk), but i dont want it to be too salty! Has anyone gotten any experience with incorporating that bready pretzel flavour without it turning the base salty? Do we think a custard base or an eggless base would be better?

I think I will mix in choc coated pretzels and a salty butterscotch sauce. I’d also love any suggestions for a butterscotch sauce that will freeze well!!

Any tips would be super helpful :) thanks!

edit: for anyone interested, i found the ‘munchies’ ice cream dupe and i decided to use that base recipe, not sure if ill go for the original mixins or do the caramelised pretzel/chip/mnm mixture!

i think the white fox buff doesn’t help

its absolutely good and useful, but the ult wasnt the issue, it was how she cant keep up with the heals and is weak in a 1v1 😭 anyone agree?

i LOVE rocket

this season i was hardstuck in gold and trying to force white fox for so long im ashamed of myself lol, i dropped to a 43% winrate on her and finally decided to main rocket instead. my winrate on him is 75% and i climbed to plat 2 insanely fast… idk what they put in this gun wielding raccoon but he’s goated this season 🙌🙌

What are some niche rocket tips?

I’m newish to rocket, i think level 10? and tbh it took me a while to actually start playing him correctly.
I know the basics: he works well on off-angles and not too far forward (or backward), dont put ult/beacon in front of the enemy, shoot whenever your teammates dont need heals, you can melt tanks really fast, utilise your small hitbox and mobility etc., but i feel like i’m not really having much impact on games.
Im not used to his mobility so i tend to stay on the ground when i could be climbing walls, and i don’t get as much damage/finals as i want.
are there any tips or advice that could help me to improve in maximising his kit and having more value in comp??

How can I defend myself from teens on e-bikes?

The more kids there are with ebikes the more aggressive and confident they become. I’ve had multiple dicey encounters but I nearly got hit by a kid (on purpose) just now. There’s nothing I can do when they ride off so fast and they’re so powerful I could have been seriously injured and they would have ditched me if I’d been hit.

I don’t want to actually get hit and end up in hospital, or keep being intimidated by them, so how can I defend myself or punish them if they keep trying to mess with me?? I know pepper spray is illegal but it would teach them a lesson about harassing or trying to injure civilians.
Anyone got any ideas?

What’s the status on driving while using medical? (not impaired)

Okay so I posted this in ask an australian but I want a take from people who also use medical marijuanna. Of course preferably we would be able to use it then not need to drive (like comprehensive public transport infrastructure, walkable cities etc), but in australia most of the population has to drive and commute.
I’m about to get my p’s and I use medical just to help with insomnia, so I only use at nighttime. I was told that the rbt’s can include a tongue scrape for thc, and that it’ll show up positive if you use regularly. I don’t/won’t ever drive while impaired but I use daily so I’d definitely get a positive.

So, how common are these tests? What is the procedure the law follows if you get a positive? And will my scripts help to cover me?
Finally, do we know of any upcoming legislative changes that will make medical marijuanna use more acceptable in the eyes of the law/police?

Thanks for any and all advice!

edit: state is NSW sorry!

Wasnt there an aus medical cannabis sub? New driver worried about thc testng

I swear a year ago there was a very active sub to discuss all things medical weed for aussies but i cant find it at all! is it still around?
I ask because I an about to get my p’s and I have a medical marijuanna script for insomnia, i am worried about the thc tests they do during rbt’s and whether my script will ‘cover’ me if i get a positive. I do not ever drive while impaired, nor do i smoke enough to have any longer term cognitive effects, but i reckon i do use regularly enough for it to be a positive every time. Does anyone have any advice for this situation or is there a better sub to ask?

best place to get affordable cars for a new driver?

I’m getting my p’s in a couple months and I want to get a 2nd hand car that is practical/safe and not too expensive to run. My budget is $10k-15k, willing to go up a bit if needed. I’m pretty clueless about cars but I’m thinking something like a mazda 2 or honda jazz. I’d prefer a more vintage looking car but I think they won’t be as realistic for my needs.

So do car dealerships around Wollongong make sure their 2nd hand cars are up to code, got their airbags etc? Or is it more on me to check that? Does anyone have any suggestions for a reputable dealership? Any advice would be appreciated!!

How to get a Mollytea flavour in ice cream?

Tea flavoured ice cream seems to be trending and I recently fell for Mollytea, I’ve done some looking online but it seems like no one has tried to reproduce Mollytea in ice cream.

what im thinking is:
- an eggless base (500g milk, 240g cream, 120g sugar, 20g dextrose, 30g smp, 0.5g guar or 1g lbg, 1/4 tsp salt)

- 1/4 cheese milk ice cream - cream cheese + extra salt added to my base to taste
- 3/4 milktea ice cream - the tea ingredients steeped or blended
- ribbon them together, no mixins

my issue is the actual tea ingredients. I know they use high quality ingredients to make their teas which is why they taste so floral and complex (and cost so much), so I won’t be able to get a direct replica but I’d love something close!!
So, anyone who is also a fan, do you have any ideas of what tea leaves and other ingredients to source for a base?? Any flavour works i love them all

i have SO many oranges!!

My tree is doing amazing and giving us tons of oranges, we are letting some native birds live there and eat them as they do it every year and they’re fun to watch, but I feel like its a shame to not use any of them..

Most people suggest marmalade, candied peel etc but knowing me and my family, we will never eat them. Any other ideas? There’s no rush to use a lot immediately, just to incorporate orange into our daily lives more over winter!!

My mum and i built this fence a few years ago but recently I’ve noticed its become way easier to open (like you can push it open without lifting the latch at all). This wasnt an issue until today where we have had a lot of wind, causing it to blow open and our dog escaped.
He is okay! but how can we fix this gate ASAP?? even a bandaid solution is fine for now.
