Large old oak

Large old oak

There's not many large old growth trees left in Prettyboy, so when I see one, it makes me happy.

When was the last time you were at Prettyboy Reservoir?

It was nice to see a lot of you enjoying George's Run today!

Boulder appreciation

There's some nice rocks located in Prettyboy, Md. As you can see, this one is typically half submerged when water levels are higher.

"Healthy" population of toad tadpoles

There were thousands of little black tadpoles along the shore of Grave Run. It's apparently a good sign of the water quality

Hosta and strawberry planter working out well as a perennial pot

I found a little variegated hosta in the yard a couple of years ago and decided to plant it in this pot. It's growing really well. It always has a nice round shape and comes back the next year. There's also some all-star strawberries in there

Canada mayflower (Maianthemum canadense)

Maryland zone 7a. It's a small woodland perennial known for its shiny green leaves and clusters of tiny, fragrant white flowers in spring, followed by red berries in fall. It forms colonies in cool, moist, shady forests across North America, spreading via rhizomes, and is also called false lily-of-the-valley.
