term for this?

i'm debating on whether or not "xenogender" is the right word to use here, and figured i'd ask.

is there a general term for genders/sexes that a human isn't capable of understanding? for example, something that exists in other species, but not in humans (like fungi, certain animals, fictional species, aliens, etc.) (this is alterbeing/otherkin related, if that helps)

some photos from today

went out bike riding with rufous/bonzo, and had a pretty great time. i found it was easiest to carry him while biking by attaching him to my hip with a carabiner, so that's smth i'll keep in mind for the future

faux fur yarn amigurumi

first time making a large project with faux fur yarn. it was hella painful since it was done almost entirely by feel. not sure what this creature is supposed to be, but i don't really care

note to future self: don't add fur markings with sharpie unless you plan to fill your whole room with the stench of sharpie for days...

question about what qualifies as yumeshipping

i have an irl partner who is fictionkin. would it therefore make sense to say that i yumeship with the characters he is?

this is probably an idiotic question, but since it's kind of 'atypical' scenario, i thought i'd ask anyway.

horned vaporeon!

i am so proud of how this turned out! kind of lopsided but idc :) otter fish cat dog thing!!!! yay

not a canon compliant design, but this is how i remember myself. i am striped all over, with a large horn, and a fin on my tail instead of a fluke. the ears are also more foxlike, instead of cartoonish fins.

masks and glasses?

hey, y'all. i have a question. I wear glasses, and masks just aren't compatible with them. they fit neither above nor underneath masks, and I cannot see much at all without them. is it possible to create or modify a mask to be glasses compatible? i want to be able to wear both without sacrificing my eyesight or looking awkward

a small flag i made!

it's just the right size to clip to my belt loops :) turned out better than i expected

can't buy one without my extremely transphobic parents knowing, so figured it would be fun to make one instead

question + kinfirm

i know it's pretty common to end up losing a connection to a kin over time, but what about the opposite (kinsidering something and then deciding you ultimately don't kin whatever it is, only to later decide that you actually do)?

anyways. that's how i feel in this situation. i am a vaporeon :3 not any specific one, just the species

something worrisome i would like to address

posting in this sub since r/theriangear doesnt allow discussion on the ethicality of taxidermy, and r/therian doesn't allow gear posts altogether.

ive noticed that a few of the zoos i've been to have recently begun selling taxidermy tail keychains. all of the tails showed obvious signs of being unethically farmed: they were scrawny and malnourished looking, among a few other things.

just because the place selling it supposedly cares about animals doesn't mean that you shouldn't be careful. one of these shops also had mass-produced, labor-intensive handmade items like crochet, needlefelting, small wood carvings, etc. so clearly they do not care at all about the ethicality of the things they sell.

point is, do not immediately put trust in places/people that say they care about animals. it might be an easy/discreet way to get ahold of tails to use as gear, but please please please be mindful.

wild bird acting strange

i found a white-crowned sparrow outside who is unable to fly, and suffers from extremely labored breathing. it also doesn't run away unless you get within six inches of it, and even then, it will only walk a few steps.

it has been moved to the shade, provided with water, and left alone, but could anyone tell me what might be wrong? there are no signs of physical injury or sickness other than this behavior. maybe it's concussed, i don't really know.

update: i went to check in on it, and it had splayed itself out in the water dish and died there.

hihi!! i'm trying to look for some genders, pronouns, and other identities related to radiation (ionizing/nonionizing/particle/electromagnetic, i don't care) and was wondering if you all could help :)

i've considered myself radioactivegender + radiationkin for a really long time, but only now became interested in collecting some terms around it.
