Why the difference between game-devs and actual gamers?

Why the difference between game-devs and actual gamers?

So I keep track of the posts I made to announce my game (and engage with interested people) and after a few posts I noticed a funny pattern: In game-development channels, it seems to be completely ignored, while in other places it is being received very well. See the screenshot.

Why is this? Is this pattern coincidental (bad luck with the algorithm or just posted on the wrong day) or is there a good reason for this? Anyone with some marketing experience who has seen similar results?

1 Year of Progress - Operation Defuse - Turn-based Multiplayer for Mobile

I've been working several years on this as a hobby project in my spare time and I'm happy I have something to show now! This is my game Operation Defuse.

Operation Defuse is inspired by two of my favorite games: Counter-Strike and XCOM. It's a tactical, turn-based, asynchronous multiplayer game for mobile devices. You get notified when it’s your turn and you can play when it suits you. In this game you command a team of terrorists on a mission to plant and detonate a bomb, or you control a special forces team to stop them.

The client side app is made using Unity 6 and the server side is a bunch of Azure and Firebase cloud services. No AI has been used for any assets in this game (but I do often ask ChatGPT advice on various subjects such as how to do things in Unity or why my kids don't listen to me)

What you see here is the vertical slice. This means there is a lot more work to do on the road towards release and you can see the development roadmap on my website. Also on the website is a complete playthrough video, screenshots, link to my Discord and Patreon for supporters.

Look mom! I'm nearly there!

I'm THIS close to reveal my game-in-progress to the public. It's not a playable demo though, just videos and screenshots for now. But I want to gauge public interest and slowly begin building a community of interested potential players and maybe help and/or inspire other developers with behind-the-scenes videos. What's your last word of advice before I press the button?

All I want is to send 1 email

Why do all these mail list services only have monthly subscriptions?

All I want is to send 1 email, to a lot of people, at some point in time. I have a product in development and it may take a while to finish. 2 years, maybe 3 depending on things. In the mean time I want interested users to subscribe to a mail list. And then send 1 email when my product releases. That's all!

Collecting/keeping a list of subscriber email addresses cannot cost hundreds of euro's per month. And neither can sending out 1 email.

I'm looking for a more fitting service. A more reasonable pricing model would be just a single payment at the time I send the email, with the price depending on the number of people who subscribed.

Does anyone have any recommendations for me?

Much appreciated from a beginner at marketing ;)

Gat muur airco dicht maken
