People are acting as if it is still 2020 and you can be college dropout and make 6 digits. But the landscape has changed. AI is here and it is really good at its current shape.
It’s not 2025 anymore (that’s just a few months ago) where AI is an absolute idiot when it comes to coding, it is getting better.
Am I the only one feeling like we have to make it within the next 10 years before we either retire, get paid with peanuts or have to switch to a different industry?

Back when people thought NCAP was going to be implemented properly, we saw every single driver following the rules. PUVs, motorcycles, car drivers, you name it, everyone knew exactly how to behave properly.
It’s not that Filipinos are naturally stupid, they just know they can get away with it. Even if every single driver got their license via fixers, if enforcers keep on apprehending them for rules that they are ignorant of, they will learn eventually and they will follow the rules.
I watched a video about how chaotic Taipei used to be because of motorcycles. It used to be just like in Manila. Motorcycles would go through sidewalks, cut through traffic, block intersections, ignore pedestrian crossings, park everywhere, etc. But because of law enforcement, things are now different. I never went there before the order was established. But today, it really feels as if majority of drivers there are respectful and disciplined, it’s not like the old drivers vanished, they simply learned how to behave.
We’ve seen things change both here and abroad only because of enforcement. I hope at least one Mayor does that in Metro Manila to teach drivers a lesson, it’s also a great way to collect taxes when done right. Put those who can’t pay to do community service.
Things should start with LGUs so vote wisely.
I kinda hope Mayor Vico does something like this. It’s likely it will cascade throughout Metro Manila.
Edit: Title should be kamote drivers not riders because it implies na motor lang ang kamote. We are inclusive here, kasama din mga jeep, truck, tricycle, bus and cars.
Ayuda everywhere, minimum wage hikes, etc. Coupled with the rise of gambling. I think sometimes we need a better system for providing the needs of the poor.
I think scholarships would be a great way to reduce their expenses and improve the quality of the work force in the country. More comprehensive trainings and more support to find work abroad if necessary. Preferably domestic work though.
Let us not force businesses to increase the wages of grocery baggers and elevator operators. Let us stop giving lump sums for people who often just use them to treat themselves or to gamble. Instead, lets us train them so they can do more and earn more than the minimum wage as a result.

Plato was skeptical of democracies because of how people can be irrational and how dissatisfied he was with the way democratic Athens was run back in his time. And this was way before Christ was born.
But he argues that good governance starts with virtuous and well educated citizens. He actually prefers the philosophers or the intellectual class to rule, and emphasizes in his writing that the rules and the society at large should prioritize justice and the common good.
Given what is happening right now in our society, what are your thoughts on this? Is democracy really flawed when its citizens are not well educated and doesn’t care about the common good?
