Added rope mechanics to my solo-dev project, Shatter Flow, and I'm honestly really happy with how it turned out!

Hey everyone,

Recently, I've been experimenting with adding rope-attached obstacles that you can interact with during gameplay. It ended up changing the flow of encounters in some really fun ways, so I wanted to share a quick look at it.

The last playtest gave us a ton of useful feedback, and that's exactly what we're focusing on over the next few weeks. The plan is to keep improving the core gameplay and adding new mechanics like this all the way up to our Early Access launch in August 2026!

There's still plenty of work to do, but seeing the game evolve with community feedback has been truly motivating.

I would love to hear what you guys think about this mechanic after watching the clip. If you have any ideas, feel free to let me know.

As a solo dev, it’s been a crazy journey getting this VR project to the finish line. Here's a look at Shatter Flow.

It’s been a wild ride building Shatter Flow. I’ve been trying to balance the boss fights/rhythm/flow mechanics with a clean, aggressive neon visual style. This is one of the builds I'm most proud of.

I’m currently pushing for a launch on Meta Quest. If this looks like your kind of jam, a wishlist on the store would be huge for me!

Shatter Flow Bosses are now armored! Just updated the Meta Quest playtest with new rooms and a Burst Crystal powerup! 💎

Based on the feedback you guys have been sharing, I just pushed a fresh update to the ShatterFlow public playtest (remember, it's only live until June 22!).

If you didn’t catch my last posts, I’m building a VR love letter to Smash Hit, bringing that satisfying glass-shattering feeling into VR, but with twin-blasters and boss fights :)

Here is what’s new in this build:

🛡️ Armored Bosses: Cores are now protected by metal plates (10 durability each). No more early core sniping; you'll need to strategize your shots!

💎 Burst Crystal: Smash this new powerup to instantly get +20 🥎for rapid recovery or aggressive play.

🌌 New Rooms: Added 3 new environments to expand the variety, visual flow, and rhythm-based destruction!!

🔧 QoL: Fixed audio timing, balanced volumes, and improved performance.

I'm still looking for more players to hop into this early build and give me some honest, raw feedback so I can make the game as good as possible 💪

My game will make you feel nostalgic (especially if you played Smash Hit)

Hey Reddit, I want to present you Shatter Flow.

For those who played Smash Hit back in the day, I'm building this as a spiritual successor for the fans, including myself.

I loved the game, but it always felt a bit too simple or like it needed something more.

That's why I'm developing Shatter Flow with bosses, insane futuristic visuals, blasters, lasers, and much more to come!

Missed Smash Hit? So did I. Since we never got an official updated VR version, I’m building this spiritual successor with some brand new twists! 💥

Hey everyone!

Growing up, I was a huge fan of Smash Hit, and I always wanted to play something like it in modern VR, so I decided to build a spiritual successor, which I'm calling Shatter Flow!

It brings that classic, deeply satisfying glass-shattering mechanic into VR, but with my own twists of course: blaster gunplay to shatter things, lasers, and many more barriers to destroy before they hit you, and even boss fights!
