Favorite hydrating products for a dry climate?

hi all! mid 30s here living in the az desert. summertime feels like what is winter for everyone else, where I’m inside 24/7 with the ac running and it just dries me out like crazy on top of the heat. (already combatted my dehydrating skin & damaged barrier, just dryness now)

have always had dry skin. currently using a basic etude cleanser that doesn’t dry me out, skin1004 Centella ampoule, pyunkang yul essence, the ordinary HA (always applied on damp skin), avene tolerance cream, rotating an active so either Rx tret, azelaic acid, or my rohto vit c, spraying some dr Althea marine jelly mist between layers, then slugging with cerave healing ointment.

I sometimes still wake up dry (also sleep with a humidifier) and so I’ve been reconsidering my moisturizers or toners to find some more hydrating. any recs would be appreciated!

some products I’m looking at:

isntree HA toner or ampoule

genabelle pdrn toner or ampoule

dr G blemish cream (used years ago, my skin tends to absorb cream texture lotions faster than gel/jelly texture which feels less drying)

Abib rice probiotic sleep mask

also yes Ive had my labs done and I do have some hormonal imbalances the past year and trying different things to help, so it does tend to make my skin wonky

Sudden spots on chest, is this hormonal?

hi, quick background my dad passed away from skin cancer so I try to avoid the sun like the plague, meet with my derm regularly, and plan to call and schedule an appointment tomorrow. I’m very paranoid about these random spots that showed up on my chest. they’re new, my other moles/freckles are all safe and had those checked recently (the scar on my chest was from an accident unrelated). I have had agoraphobia honestly due to intense heat where I live, so I’ve been hiding from the sun and not sure how these spots could’ve appeared within a week. I just started progesterone only birth control for the first time, so wondering if this is any hormonal thing going on? when it gets hot I tend to get heat rash on my chest and other areas, and since starting bc I’ve had a weird breakout phase on my face. if anyone has any experience like this for what to do until I see my derm, I greatly appreciate it!

Has anyone purchased anything from Clyque the label?

Curious if this is normal for them, I ordered just a pair of pants that were in stock on July 5th. Their shipping policy online says 2-6 business days to pack the order before it ships. last week I reached out to them cause the order status didn’t even have a label created. They told me by the end of the week it would be shipped, and I only received a label created notification. I reached back out to customer service and they said it was shipped, but USPS says they haven’t received the package still. I’m at the point where I don’t even want the pants now. Has this happened with anyone else? Is the quality even worth it? Thank you in advance everyone.

What's it like living in this part of Nevada?

Seriously, you never hear anything about it. I've heard about hunting or farming after I sat next to a farmer on a flight from there once. But nothing else

as a single person in a sea of married people with kids...

Two things; idk why it was a big deal for Whitney that Georgina & Lindsay have the primary, because couple are CONSTANTLY playing the couples card, giving them better rooms etc. which is exactly what she was trying to do for Yvonne and her husband. Especially since the bed was bigger, give it to the two who aren't a couple that have to share. This was a friends trip, not a second honeymoon.

Second....I'm sorry but why the h*ll are you running around claiming special treatment for a second wedding? This whole second wedding ordeal is irritating. I understand the fighting was inappropriate at the table, but Yvonne seems more mad at Lindsay for reacting vs the people who instigated it. The "single person tax" is very much a thing, especially as we get older. This episode made me want to pull a Carrie Bradshaw and get my own registry together

edit: I’m not saying Lindsay wasn’t reactive at the dinner, everyone was inappropriate tbh. But I don’t think she instigated it, I believe it was Gavin/Danielle? But when they arrived at the house for the weekend, Yvonne seemed civil with Danielle when they talked about matching, but was holding a grudge with Lindsay. So I think the whole thing is stupid

Any migraine sufferers experience aura in the first month of the mini pill?

so I was diagnosed with NCCAH and we‘re basically trying to lower my DHEA-S and testosterone. I’m very migraine prone, so my dr prescribed slynd which she has really high hopes for, and I’ve seen others say so as well. im at the end of week 3 and I’ve never felt worse. the first week was fine, I had an 8 day long period but I haven’t spotted since. I’m on day 16 now, and the past week and a half, my anxiety has skyrocketed, my migraines with aura are horrible and Ive never felt worse. I called my dr and they called back to let me know I should keep going and it’s a sign it could be working faster? idk how long I can take this though. I keep worrying I’m going to have a stroke even though it isn’t a combo pill. the tinnitus, eye floaters, insane migraines are just debilitating even with my high pain tolerance. how much longer should I hold out until I decide it’s not working?

Why do I still feel broken after my Saturn return?

tyia everyone. in the past 4 years I’ve moved 9 times. but ive been in my current space the longest (2 years) due to anxiety. so August of 2023 my life really fell apart. before that, I had just moved to a state I don’t like, was supposed to move back out and then got stuck due to a new job I started. then health issues rolled in and I’ve been suffering from anxiety/panic disorder. my dad passed away in 2024. I found out I have 5 cousins I don’t know about this week. my half siblings all are a mess. my whole family has been a mess my entire life and I try to ignore it, but it’s been a lot lately. I’m also super unhappy in my career and trying to change career paths. I dont feel happy unless I’m creative or doing something to benefit others (like sustainability etc.) I’ve been stuck indoors due to living in the desert extreme heat and I feel like a dried sponge. I grew up near the ocean and need some sort of body of water near me. I have crippling anxiety but anytime I jump in the shower I feel a little more alive again. i just need change so badly and I don’t know why I’m struggling to find another job, have the strength to move again, and get my life back. I was hoping it would all be over after my Saturn return

the finale, and Rosie & Ashley changing their opinions in the after show

after seeing the last part of the final episode, where Ashley & Rosie went to Rulla's house and were there supporting her, it makes sense why in the after show their opinions were so different from where they stood during initial filming on certain subjects. I feel like after the tracking incident, they may just be there to support Rulla no matter what? but it makes sense now

Disappointed that the West/Amanda drama overshadowed all parts of the reunion

not sure if anyone else feels this way too, but by the third reunion episode what did we learn that we didn’t already know before? imo that topic could’ve been summed up in one part because we know they weren’t going to share more, and giving them the attention is what they wanted in the long run. I really wanted more discussion with the new cast, cause this was the first season where we actually got interesting people. I wanted a little more recap of their opinions too. I know we got KJ & Dara’s opinion on W&A because of their history with west. Ex: I wanted to hear more about Carl 10.0, the future of soft bar, Mia and her work balance being a real estate agent with weekends unavailable, Ben and how he felt with Amandas rumors of him including Italy, Bailey and Levi and how they met, how Kyle is exploring single life and what he would’ve done differently, how Lindsay feels as a mom balancing it all. I feel like there were so many other things that we couldve talked about. This wasn’t the juicy reunion I expected with the scandal because tweedle dee and tweedle dum just sat there as emotionless liars in denial still

Avene Cicalfate+ ingredient variations

So I used to purchase Avene Cicalfate+ from C.O. Bigelow, and never had problems. I haven't used it in a while, and saw it when I was at Ulta, so I picked it up there and had a horrible reaction. I was really confused, assumed maybe they changed the formula, but I checked the ingredients lists on both websites, and the Ulta website shows fewer/different ingredients? I know bigelow carries a lot of european products, and I'm wondering if this is an EU formulation or could bigelow be behind updating any formula change on their website?

Where to move for a rebirth or new chapter

Hi all, I'm back after I previously posted here a few months ago, but didn't have my relocation charts. I'm looking to move to any of the other cities based off where I can find work. I grew up in SD and it was a rough-ish childhood, but I thrived as an adult there and wondering if that's where is best for me to return.

The first chart is AZ (where I currently live), second SD, third Denver, fourth is Philly, fifth is Seattle, and last is SF. I've been living in AZ for three years now, and it's been horrible, pretty much everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong. Between personal health, relationships, death of a parent, family and financial issues. It's taking everything in me not to run to the nearest place.

I previously lived in Denver and it wasn't terrible, travel to Seattle a lot for work and always enjoyed it. I've just never been so lost in life, so trying to figure this out to help guide me, and I'm looking for a fresh start and a sort of rebirth. Thank you and much appreciation in advance

My endocrinologist said there are no subtypes of PCOS…..

hi all, new here as I was just diagnosed. at first they suspected non classic adrenal hyperplasia due to my elevated DHEA-S (ruled out any tumor as well), but confirmed it is PCOS. I feel defeated because my endo basicslly gave me an eff you response. she said “so you have PCOS, you need to see a dietician and not be stressed”. I tried asking questions like what steps should I start to take, and what sub type is it? I assumed I have the adrenal PCOS. she said “it’s just PCOS, there’s no subcategories, your DHEA is high and that’s normal for you and you don’t have insulin resistance“. (My dhea was in the 500s) this pretty much goes against everything Ive read online. this was the best endocrinologist in my area, I have an appointment next week to meet with a naturopath. even my psychiatrist was shocked because she asked if they were putting me on metformin or anything and I said no. any new help or advice is appreciated. i know I’m not alone in this, but it doesn’t make it any easier.

also side note: based on my low BP history (I genetically run low, and have had issues with anxiety medications dropping my BP), my dermatologist doesn’t want me on spiro because I guess low BP can be a side effect. so that’s off the table for me.

hey all. looking at trading in my 2022 CRV cause it's boring and I don't need a big car. previously drove a subaru impreza hatch and loved it but I had a lemon. looking at the mazda I stated in the title, not sure if it's a good deal or if the mileage is too high. it's a 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback Grand Touring, 77,475 miles on it, clean carfax, only two previous owners. The car is in mint condition too.

anything with this model I should be weary of? or would I be making a dumb decision. Thanks in advance!

edit: I owe about 7 grand on my CRV. I've had offers from dealers for about $24k. the mazda is $11,400

hi all ~ nervous to post my face here cause I’m at an all time low in confidence. in the past couple of years my skin has completely changed and I’m unsure of what to do, and the dermatologist hasn’t helped much besides tret. I moved to the dry hot desert with hard water and I’ve struggled to find a routine that helps. So far I’ve really found what doesn’t help. I do have a lot of stress in life which honestly my skin hasn’t been so bad the whole time. So I think this is not an environmental factor. I’ve been dealing with a possible pcos diagnosis, with only one elevated hormone, but also my dad passed a little over a year ago so there’s been a lot of ups and downs especially living in an area I hate and having a tough job. I don’t have any thyroid issue, but I’m exposed to constant AC, extreme heat, and harsh water even with a water softener on the whole house. Just sitting around, my skin feels like it’s tight and burns, with redness and texture. I have been on tret for 5 months just about. but recently have had a lot of flaking around my nose/chin/jaw which you can see a little of.

My current routine:

AM:

splash with cold water

Pyunkang yul essence toner

Naturie hatamougi skin milk

Malezia moisturizer

Skin aqua uv milk (the now discontinued one so I’ll have to find another)

Pm:

Indie lee brightening cleanser, but also have a bottle of etude house foaming cleanser that doesn’t feel like it cleanses off my sunscreen enough

Avene thermal water

Abib heartleaf toner

.25% tret (every two days)

Malezia moisturizer

Aquaphor to slug

I’m not strictly into AB or anything, but was given some of these things to try by a friend assuming I had FA.

I recently tried the super goop sunscreen with niacinamide in the jar, and I think the niacinamide irritated me. So far I know niacinamide, essential oils, and squalane irritates my skin more (not sure if this is just cause I’m so dehydrated). I used to use cerave, Avene, and LRP on the regular, but cerave and LRP were too irritating and I stopped (I think cause niacinamide was added). I feel like I can never get enough moisture, and considering something pricey like obagi skin luxe hydrating cream (had a sample that felt nice) or the sofie pavitt one.

Overall I just need help and need to slowly revamp my routine cause nothing is working. I feel like bathing in lotion.

Thank you for your kindness in advance, and I appreciate any help!
