Full scale work / recruitment

Hey all,

Got an ipad pro a while ago and it's been great, use it mainly for browsing and movies when travelling.

But about to start a new job, I'm contracting so need my own laptop but do you think I could use the ipad pro for full time work?

Using chrome heavily, excel, Word etc.

I have the magic Keyboard and just bought a wireless mouse etc.

The thing I'm finding most difficult is the keyboard shortcuts I'm memorised from Windows. CTRL Z, CTRL, SHIFT T etc..

But does anyone use their ipad pro for their full time job? How is it holding up? Or should I just fork out for a new laptop?

Thanks in advance!

Should I quit or should I stay?

Hi All,

First time poster and I've asked similar questions before on other threads but get alot of hate because we invested in property.

Situation

M34 F28, both work in recruitment last 6-10 years.

Both worked hard earned about 150-200k a year in jobs before tax.

We saved and just kept buying properties.

Own 5 BTLs that we use for short term let. They have mortgages on them but we clear somewhere between 6-10k a month after mortgages and expenses. But only because they are on short term let.

If we switched them to long term rent we would only earn about 3k a month.

Next steps

Can't decide for next steps, because we earn well in jobs should we keep working to maybe buy a few more properties or should we quit and just live off property money.

Jobs are good but burnout is real and they are high stress so would value time off but don't want to give up careers if we have to end up working again in a few years.

I know we aren't quite FIRE but potentially have enough to never work again and just live on property income.

Anyone in a similar situation or who has done this in the past?

Would welcome any advice!

Thanks

A laptop for business

Hi all,

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

Country

Uk

Budget

1-2k

Are you open to refurbs/used options?

Yes

Screen size

[Any

Weight limit

Pref thin and light

Purpose

Staring a recruitment business

Form factor

[Standard

Intended usage

I just want it to be fast and not laggy for business use. The ones I've been assigned from work over the years go very slow once I use LinkedIn recruiter, which is 70% of my daily usage. It uses alot of ram.

Other than this would like it to be fast on excel and maybe looking into 3d printing down the line, so being able to create renders etc would be helpful

Desired battery life

Don't care, mostly plugged in

Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life

[performance, thin, portable

Info/Requirements

I want to stick with windows. I have an ipad pro but I prefer windows. Thanks

Child maintenance northern ireland

Not sure if this is the right place for this but just incase someone can help me.

I've been full time employed and been paying child maintenance for last few years, it's just worked out on my salary.

But I'm considering quitting my full time job and starting a business.

I don't imagine I'll be profitable for the first year or two and would most likely only be taking a small salary to get by at the start.

Does anyone know how the child maintenance is worked out if I'm a director in a limited company? Is it based on company turnover, profits, or just on what salary I take myself?

And if it's on my own salary, what if I take it in chunks every 3-4 months rather than consistently

Thanks in advance

Do any recruiters on here contract?

I've hit 10 years In agency and tax has been horrible in the UK. 60% of earning disappearing. At the point now where I would probably be better working a cash in hand labour job.

But keen to know if anyone has any recruitment gigs and are as paid as contractors?

Like a day rate set up, or even commission only part time or full time

Mechanics hyundai Belfast / Lisburn

Used to go to sprint auto center in Dunmurry and it was very reasonable priced.

Got a MOT coming up and seen that's its now closed permanently online?

Any recommendations for reasonablly priced mechanics rather than going direct to dealer or the big chains.

Thanks in advance!

Any know if this has value?

I posted on another thread trying to find out what this is.

Thought it was some kind of bar chest or something.

Been told it's a Chinese rosewood chest.

Switching from laptop to ipad pro

Hi everyone,

I've always just had my personal stuff on my work laptop and it's been like that for the last ten years.

But I'm starting to make the seperation and want to start using my ipad pro as my main personal laptop / ipad. Just ordered the keyboard and everything.

I'm a first time apple user so would appreciate any help on the below questions.

  1. Do I store my documents directly on my ipad like windows file explorer? Or on iCloud?

  2. Do I have to pay to open and edit word and excel documents on the ipad? Or are there any free apps?

  3. Does anyone use their ipad just like a laptop or is it not intended for that?

I mainly just use it for Google, tracking stuff on excel, editing Word docs

Thanks

Hi all,

Does anyone recommend any laundrettes in Belfast? It will be for large volumes of bedding / towels. Rather pay by weight or the bag full as I know some price for individual items

Would love to know if anyone has been using one on a regular basis

Thanks in advance
