I despise the way she talks to her scale

That’s really it. It pisses me off and I cannot stand the way she says “‘sup bitch” with the finger point every single time. I know she thinks it makes her sound cool/edgy but it really just comes across as snarky, and not in a good way. It’s so off putting to me.

Do you think she has this talking scale because she couldn’t see the number over her stomach? I can’t come with any other reason she would need it. Obviously, it’s a great option for people who are blind, have limited eyesight, etc, but she is not one of them….so I’m wondering what prompted her to buy it in the first place.

[FO] Librarian Ghost

Finally framed this one in a 4x6 frame! I hate how black fabric always shows a reflection in photographs lol. Stitched with 2 strands on 14 CT black Aida with DMC floss. I used a variety of colors different than the ones on the pattern as I was trying to stick with what I already had on hand. Close up is on the second slide and you can find the pattern from LivingOnTheRainbow here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1551735171/library-ghost-cross-stitch-pattern?ref=share\_ios\_native\_control

[FO] GenA.I. Is For Losers

What the title says! 18CT Aida, 2 strands, DMC floss. The pattern is from the incredibly talented r/Ansitru. I’ll post the link in the comments, and the close up stitching is on the second slide! Really loved stitching this and it brought me a lot of joy.

[FO] Finished my “HUMMINGBIRD!” gift for Mom

I made these as a set for my mom’s birthday and couldn’t resist giving them to her a few days early. I posted the WIP stages of the lettering in this sub earlier on, and included it again for shits and giggles. Close-up pics in final slides to comply with the new rule. Hummingbird pattern is from The Prairie Schooler “Prairie Birds” leaflet, the quilt block is from MichaelaCoffield on Etsy (though I took some liberties with the DMC colors). Both stitched with 2 threads on 18 CT mimosa green Aida cloth and framed as 4 x 4 inches.

Edited to add: Thanks to the commenter who commented about the correct hummingbird pattern source.

Context on the hummingbird: my mom and her siblings have had a years-long tradition where every time one of them sees a hummingbird, they text the word “HUMMINGBIRD” in their family group chat without any other explanation, other than the occasional picture of said bird. They live far apart from each other, and I know my mom misses them a lot, so I wanted to pay homage to that little connection they all share.

fanart by 15-year-old brother!

He painted this for one of his art classes last (this most recent school year). We have a bit of an atypical sibling relationship because I am 11 years older than him, which probably explains the unbridled joy and pride I felt seeing this like it was my own kid who made it. I love that the fandom truly transcends generations :,)

Books similar to “The Starving Saints” by Caitlin Starling

Finished this one yesterday and god, I am utterly obsessed. Give me all of your recs similar to this! Slow-burn, sapphic horror with morally grey leading women that disgust and fascinate you at the same time. Love love love.

Cross Stitch Junk Journaling

I've been trying out ways to record my cross-stitch projects, and I loved how this one came together. I keep the PDF files of the patterns I've used, and the paper copies are usually very well-loved by the time I finish a project, but I don't like just throwing them away. This felt like a fun compromise and brought back some of the joy I felt stitching it last year!

[FO] patches!

Whipped these up today while watching a few episodes of Glee (comfort re-watch for pride month). Flag was freehanded, plumb bob and Umbreon are pixel art I found on Pinterest. All stitched on 14 CT plastic Aida with 3 strands of DMC floss. Brainstorming ideas for finishing the edges, but haven’t found something I’ve loved yet. (Bonus pic of my stitching buddy).

[WIP] “All work and no play…” vibes

I spent some time yesterday practicing/testing out lettering options for a current WIP (visible in background). My partner usually games while I cross stitch, but during one of their breaks, they came to see what I was working on and said it looked very “unhinged” and was giving Jack Torrance from The Shining. Gave me a good laugh and wanted to share because in the eyes of a non-stitcher, this probably does look pretty bizarre, lol.

[FO] mother’s day bookmark!

Finished this for my mom a few days ago but wanted to share because I posted the one I made for my MIL! This took me only a few hours and came out better than I expected. 14 CT Aida, DMC floss (with minor alterations to colors), felt backing. Pattern is from ThreadsByDoodles on Etsy and linked in the comments!
Edited to add: The bee was literally one of my favorite things I’ve ever stitched. So cute and tiny. I immediately wanted to do 40 of them, lol.

Tabaxi is my soul cat and just the most perfect angel baby to ever exist (I’m very biased ofc). She turns 5 this year and is one of the best parts of my life. I was sorting thread so my lap was unavailable—apparently a piece of paper is the next best option.
