Need help deciding on filing no fault collision claim vs keeping uninsured motorist claim for total loss (Allstate in Georgia)

So I had a 0% fault rear ending auto accident on May 4th. I have a letter from Allstate stating I am 0% fault.

The girl was uninsured. Totaled my car, her car, and I think the car in front and caused damage to the fourth car in the very front.

My car was deemed a total loss.

Car valuation seemed a little low. My 60,000 miles 2016 Honda Civic was given a value of $13450. I was told I was allowed to invoke the appraisal claim. I started that process and the appraisal business thought I should be able to get at least $15000 based on the condition of the car but maybe more. It says up to 18000 but that seems unrealistic so I think $15K is about right.

The appraisal costs $497 but I don't pay anything unless they get at least $1K of extra value so I thought it was a good idea to try.

Turns out I am not allowed to invoke the appraisal clause if the total loss is handled by uninsured motorist. I would have to convert to a collision claim in order to invoke appraisal. All the bodily injury stuff is still being handled by uninsured motorist and would stay that way.

I have been debating whether it would be a good decision or not to use my collision insurance for this total loss claim.

I have the platinum plan with multi accident forgiveness so no surcharge would occur for a collision claim. I don't think accident forgiveness actually kicks in unless it's an at fault claim.

I have $300 of vanishing deductible saved up that would be used up by filing the collision claim.

I don't think I would lose safe driving discounts since it is 0% fault.

"You may qualify for the Safe Driving Club if at least one driver on the policy has had no at-fault accidents during the prior 5 years and if you have continuously maintained automobile liability insurance for the 3 years preceding the effective date of your current Allstate policy. The more drivers on the policy without at-fault accidents during the prior 5 years, the larger the discount."

- would it affect future renewal rates when I file a 0% fault collision claim?

Any advice on whether pursuing the collision claim wouldn't cause rate issues in the future or dings on my insurability record?

Thanks!

Looking at my costs up front is the $497 for the appraisal plus $300 worth of vanishing deductible but I want to make sure there no additional unseen issues that I need to be aware of before deciding.

Form 5500EZ late filing penalty relief

So, it is August 18 and the form was due July 31. Fee as of today would be almost $5000 due to the $250/day. It is my first time needing to file 5500EZ.

I originally started filling it out at the end of April but I suffered a major car accident May 4th and was out of commission for two months and have been focusing on recovery and physical therapy since then so unfortunately it did slip my mind to complete it by July 31. I have been to a lot of doctors appointments and such but I wasn't hospitalized or unconscious but I was injured to a significant enough degree that my left hand was unusable for two months. I was rear ended at high speed on the highway.

I am aware there are two options and they are mutually exclusive.

(1) Pay $500, file late with checkbox D on Form 5500EZ along with Form 14704

(2) Penalty relief due to reasonable cause - rejection by the IRS then results in full penalty

How feasible is option #2 for medical/injury reasons? I'm pretty tempted to go with option one since that will not leave any mystery but thought I would ask.

I have NOT received a penalty notice CP283.

I can certainly write a letter but I don't know if my injury would be deemed "significant enough" for reasonable cause. I do have a long history of filing taxes on time and paying estimated taxes quarterly.

I assume the best advice is just pay the $500 due to lower risk?

Best place to sit for Spiderman Brand New Day in ScreenX?

I heard that towards the front is best for screenX but some others said the back of the theater is best.

Since Brand New Day was filmed specifically for ScreenX, any thoughts on the best experience for this format? This theater layout doesn't have the front accessibility section so it must be all one single level.

Preordered June 2026 - order window moved up to Sept - Nov instead of Nov-Dec

Very exciting! Seems like they're really bumping along on deliveries.

Extra excited because I need a new car as soon as possible. My car was totaled in May by a very irresponsible driver and I have been sharing one car ever since then with my significant other. Total hassle and have been using Uber/Lyft with much higher frequency.

I am in Atlanta so there's a few service centers here

Unresponsive host, ants, fish hooks on the ground, and nightmare useless AirBnB customer service [Florida]

I had to cut my trip to Panama City Beach short by 50%. This one is a doozy and it's long and frustrating. If I was a less persistent person, I would have rage quit. But I am me and hard headed as hell. Bummed about ending it early since I don't travel with my dogs often :(

TLDR - nightmare AirBnB house and even worse customer service experience that went round and round in circles with no resolution. Their system is designed to frustrate the customer until they give up complaining. I only got actual help by emailing the executive leadership.

----

We rented an AirBnB. Pictures looked cute. Everything looked good on its surface when we arrived.

Things quickly went down the tubes though

Day 1 July 28

  1. Bad omen - towel rod fell off the wall shortly after arrival. Notified host. No response.

  2. dogs put dirty used q tips they found on the ground into their mouth 🫠

  3. Ants crawling on the kitchen counter. Notified host. No response.

Day 2 July 29

  1. follow up about ants. No response.

  2. Found fucking (2) used large rusty fish hooks and fishing line on the ground when I went to use the water spigot by the front door. We had just gotten back from the beach and I needed to wash the dogs. Nobody injured thankfully because I saw them in time. Surprise surprise no host response.

  3. report to Airbnb to start a case around 930PM. I wanted to relocate. They couldn't help us relocate at that hour apparently. Also refused to get us a hotel. I didn't want to stay - sanitation and safety concerns.

From there it became an exercise in insanity trying to get real help.

Day 3

- July 30 (1:30 AM): After hours on the phone while support tried to reach the unresponsive host, support advised us to vacate the property by the 10:00 AM checkout time the next morning. They assured us we would receive a refund for the unused nights, a partial refund for the impacted nights, and a travel coupon.

- July 30 (10:00 AM): We checked out as directed. Got up early to pack up and leave this mess. The ant infestation had worsened and rendered half the kitchen unusable.

- July 30 (12:00 PM CST): I finally reached Senior Case Manager Mitch, who promised both over the phone and in writing to process the refund if the host did not respond within one hour as per the Air Cover policies (12:50PM CST)

Following this, I experienced hours of delays and stonewalling. Mitch ignored my follow-up messages for hours, made false promises that the refund was being processed (4:22PM), and finally stated at 6:32 PM that he was going off shift and would follow up the next day. Wtf? I called AirBnB support repeatedly attempting to get additional assistance throughout the day. Because the support system prevents other agents from accessing cases assigned to a Senior Case Manager, I was completely blocked from getting real assistance.

With no relocation assistance provided and no reasonable comparable alternatives available on the AirBnB platform in the same area, my family was forced to cut our vacation short and drive hundreds of miles back home. A hotel wouldn't have been a great option for my dogs - too anxious and from experience they just do a lot better inside of a house when we are away from home. We made it back home at 11PM.

On the way home, I emailed the C-suite team and literally added every relevant executive spelling all of this out. Within one hour, I got the first useful helpful response and was granted a full refund plus a $300 coupon. Moreover that person took 45 minutes to listen to my feedback about how stupid the customer service experience is and seemed to be taking notes. Everybody else talked about action but never delivered but the last Supervisor finally actually did something and was very easy to work with.

It is insane it took me copying the CEO, Head of Global Operations, Co-founder, etc to get real help.

I'm a fairly patient person but this was harrowing. I was not under any circumstances going to give up because it was the principle of the matter much more than the actual money once I spoke to like the 6-7th agent and had gotten nowhere.

If you ever run into trouble with AirBnB, email the C-Suite. That lit a fire under their butts and finally ended up with something happening. Once you get locked to a useless, incompetent, or unhelpful "senior case manager," nothing will get accomplished unless you escalate above them by sending an email to the executives.

I emailed the following people.

- CEO Brian Chesky

- Chief Experience Officer Hiroki Asai

- Head of Global Operations Gus Fuldner

- Co-founder Joe Gebbia

Gus Fuldner is new at the company since March so hopefully he is actually paying attention to how garbage their customer service actually is.

Their emails are first.last@airbnb.com

Koehler Sensate Touchless Faucet K-72218 minimal flow but works with manual override

Anyone have any ideas of how to repair the sink when it works only in manual mode but the water flow is just a trickle with the sensor turned on?

Checked the screens and they are not clogged. It was working just fine the other day but slowly the water flow went from a trickle at the beginning and then taking a few seconds to achieve full flow in either nozzle setting to now it is just permanently a teeny trickle of water.

Checked the manual and followed the trouble shooting steps and couldn't figure out the problem. Is the solenoid busted then?

Height for a dog to jump into back seat?

How high up off the ground is the backseat? I have two smaller dogs so I'm wondering whether I need to buy a ramp or something that can slide in and out of the back seat or put away in the trunk or something. I usually have a dog hammock for my pups in the back seat to keep them safe.

It'll be annoying to have to set it up every time the dogs go in the car but obviously don't want them injuring themselves.

Re watched from the beginning this week - anyone else have a very hard time caring about Dante Reyes as a villain?

I love love the Fast & Furious Series as a whole. The characters, the family plot armor, the fizziks and unreal plots.

I have watched probably >12 times the first three

I'm in the Tokyo Drift is the most fun and my favorite camp personally. It's just so fun.

I've also watched 4-7 probably 4-5 times each

Maybe twice each 8-10, Hobbs and Shaw. I feel like my interest and enjoyment became inversely proportional to the number of siblings magically pulled out of a hat though.

I have the hardest time caring about X because it just feels like one retcon too many and feels rather forced when they just shoehorn Dante into the scenes of Fast 5. I have a really hard time with the fact that the giant with daddy issues is this super villain and therefore I just don't focus when I watch Fast X, which is a damn shame and I'm gonna have to try really hard to rewatch this at least a few more times before XI comes out since it's the finale. X is by far the weakest movie of the lot IMO. Jason Mamoa plays psycho really well I suppose.

I really hope XI is actually good. I'll be sad if it all ends on a low note.

My experience at Le Blanc Cancun using Resort Credits

Just spent a week at LeBlanc Cancun through a Residence Member and got black bracelets (VIP) benefits. I am NOT a member so I don't know anything about that. I am not advertising anything about that.

For anyone curious, we paid $3500 June 27-July 4th for two people in a standard lagoon view room. The rate was discounted due to the benefits of the person we booked through who we found online (not someone we personally knew).

Stay was excellent and very relaxing with beautiful weather. Service is great. There's a lot of posts about how it is wonderful already.

My post is mainly about how we spent the credits just so people know about the math and experience. I see a lot of information online that the resort credits are "useless" but they aren't as long as you understand the math and how they work. It was my first time at LB Cancun and I felt we had really good experiences with the credits overall.

  • We received $1500 Blanc Benefits (resort credit) which 50% can be used for spa and 50% excursions. It is only at LB that you can use 50% resort credit for spa I believe. Other properties is less spa credit typically about 20%.

Please note that redeeming the credits comes with a 16% service fee that is a room charge.

  • We went to the presentation and negotiated another $500 of resort credit that could be used completely for spa or excursion plus $500 of palace money per room that we could use for covering the room charges. I think you might be able to negotiate more. We were two couple in two different rooms so I don't know if that helped with having more pull to negotiate since both rooms would agree to do it based on the offer or none at all.
  • The Presentation was not a condition required for activating our benefits though for the member that we booked with

FYI it is not the easiest to track how much palace money is left on your account in the app so you have to ask the front desk. The app just zeroes out any covered room charges that are paid with palace money.

FYI spa menu lists the price that already includes the 16% service fee.

  • Aura massage for a couple 80 min - worth it very very relaxing

~$625 blanc benefits

~$100 service fee (room charge)

  • Facial 80 min - worth it very relaxing and my face looked so smooth and shiny.

~$296 Blanc Benefits

~$47 service fee (room charge)

  • Add on body scrub 25 min - not worth it. The scrubbing was maybe only 10-15 minutes max and felt rushed. The other part was just me taking a shower afterwards. 🤷

~$141 Blanc Benefits

~$22 service fee (room charge)

  • Men's facial 80 min - very relaxing. My husband took a nap so he doesn't even remember the facial 😅

~$294 Blanc Benefits

~$47 service fee (room charge)

  • Also received free 25 minutes mani, pedi, mini massage due to member plus benefits as part of our stay

Excursions prices listed DO NOT include the 16% fee already. You are not required to use the private transportation provided by the tour operator if you do not want to but that costs $15 per person round trip. We did it was just easier.

  • Subsee - this was super fun! You're in a submarine with glass so you can watch fish in the coral reef. Definitely worth it! *Not good for the claustrophobic

(Price for two)

~$238 Blanc Benefits

~$38 service fee (room charge)

Extra cash fees = $35 pp dock fee + transportation

  • Mangrove tour - bit of a misnomer. We picked speedboat upgrade so it was more of a speed boat tour with two people to one boat and you speed through the mangroves and wave at them 😂 it was VERY fun. You do get to drive. There is about 20 minutes of optional snorkeling if desired.

(Price for two)

~$198 Blanc Benefits

~$32 service fee (room charge)

+$100 upgrade to speedboats (room charge) and this included transportation

Extra cash fees = $20 pp dock fee

  • Lagoon Sunset Cruise - had a great time. Live saxophone, drinks, dancing, leisurely cruise lasting about 1.5 hours. This was like a party boat environment. There will be kids present though.

(Price for two)

~$278 Blanc Benefits

~$45 service fee (room charge)

Extra cash fees = $35 pp dock fee + transportation

  • Overall spent all but $36 excursion credits

  • Total of $714 in excursion credits redeemed

  • Used majority of the palace money to pay all the service fees (~total $331).

  • Total around $1356 at spa which used all $1250 in eligible spa credits and the rest of my unused palace money.

  • Paid $38 out of pocket at check out for adding on the extra spa scrub since I didn't have enough spa credit/palace money at that point.

  • Paid total of $180 charged to credit card at the excursion operator for the dock fees/transport fees

I would absolutely do the sunset Cruise, subsee, and speed boat tour again in the future. Massage 10/10 if you have credits. Facial was also lovely. Would not pick any of the 25 minutes add on services again though. Quite happy with all these extras we got to try out this week. We had a great time! The Sunset Cruise was our last activity on our last day and it was a great cap to an excellent adventure.

It is pretty important to negotiate palace money to offset the 16% service fee. Otherwise, you'll be paying a ton to spend the resort credits.

Question - went to presentation and had to sign a decline letter at the end

The fine print on the decline letter said that we wouldn't be eligible again for whatever intro offer they said. Does signing a decline letter mean we are not eligible for future presentations at all? Or just for the particular offer that they gave to us.

They offered something like 30 weeks around $30,000 with 0% APR something like that.

We went to Leblanc Cancun as a referral booking.

Uninsured motorist insurance

State = Georgia

My car was totaled recently by an uninsured driver and I sustained a bad injury to my hand. Police report and my dash cam puts them at fault.

Nothing severed but I saw a specialist and he said I'm going to be combatting some long term issues with stiffness and will need special PT. I am also missing three weeks of work minimum worth about 10K. I have pain in a lot of places but no fractures. Idk what the hospital bills will be yet as I got transported by EMS on scene and they did X-rays and CT as well as laceration repair.

My uninsured motorist coverage limits are as follows:

- Property Damage 50K each accident

- Automobile medical payments 10K

- Uninsured Motorists Insurance for Bodily

Injury 50K each person / 100k each accident

It's shitty my limits are so low but it is what it is.

I am concerned about diminished earning capacity long term as both hands are important for my job. Loss of dexterity will be limiting.

Do I need a lawyer to help get the max payout from the insurance to or bodily injury and lost wages / pain and suffering? 50K isn't that much and I know that the lawyer would get 1/3

Anyone know if there are people at the ticketing office or some sort of customer service today at Georgia Tech Bobby Dodd Stadium before the concert? I went to Bruno Mars N1 and our view from L115 was an unexpected completely obstructed view. This was NOT disclosed on our tickets at all nor is it.disclosed when you look at the seat map. Since this concert wasn't ticketed by Ticketmaster, the only people I can think to speak to would be Georgia Tech's ticketing office. I tried calling but their business hours are M-F 9-5PM

I tried speaking to someone last night but security wouldn't let me go to the ticketing area as reentry is not permitted. I paid two hundred and fifty per ticket and this view was not it.

Help?
