Just brought this fella to work and…

And I’m already debating bringing it home to separate one of the plants so I can have one here and one growing outdoors at home to see how they compare.

Should I do it?

If so, how?

Are they relatively hardy when being separated?

Is this about to be a flower on my cape sundew?

Looks like I’m about to have a flower. Let it ride or trim it off? And if I let it ride, what do I do? I got this sundew last summer sometime and this is my first flower from it (if it is a flower)

Advancing Beyond Basic Survival: Questions!

Hello! I’ve had this gollum jade for.. several years at this point. I’ve been a little casual with it, both having given it at times too much as well as too little attention some years, and this year i am going to start giving it more specific care. Been doing a lot of reading and video watching. Previously I’ve basically just let it get by and now I want to make it thrive. It just got a pot upgrade for the first time in years. Pruning is on the table. Outdoor sunlight soon. Better soil. I got a moisture meter to test the soil before watering. The whole nine.

But first, a few things I want to ask about.

1- there are two trunks coming from the soil. Are these likely joined at one central trunk underground? Should I prune one trunk and let the other take over? If I prune one I’d like to pot it and let it grow (and yes, I would call the twin Sméagol) - would it take? Or should I let it be as it is now and one day a strong central trunk may ascend? I think I like the idea of one big central trunk if I’m being honest but I am hesitant though I know these guys are hardy

2- what are these spines hanging from a stem in the second picture?

3- I’ve read conflicting things about light preferences. Both that they love long direct summer sunlight but also they must be protected from afternoon sun from like 2-5pm. I can easily offer it either direct morning sun on my front porch which faces straight east and is covered, so direct morning sun from dawn to noon. Or my back deck faces straight west and would give it noon to 6pm direct sun. I have a south side deck/patio that would protect the plant with indirect sun after 2pm but it’s out of the line if foot traffic around the house and I’m afraid it would get forgotten over there. So where should I put it? Can I start it on the east facing porch and graduate it to the west facing back deck?

Got into this a few years ago and am happy to report my skills at this have improved since this first attempt. I’m going to take this down completely and also want to remove the top lid. It’s a fluval edge aquarium. Currently the only things alive in it are a baby rubber plant and a small colony of isopods
