Can anyone tell me anything about this piece?

Found in a bag of scrap jewelry from an antique store. It is hollow, used to be a pin from the markings I can see and was made into a crude ring at some point. It tests between 18-22k gold, I am positive as I have sanded the back way down and dropped the acid directly one it but no reaction. If it was stamped, it was likely on the pin mount or it’s older than that. I have polished in the process of figuring out if it is gold or not. It seems to be made from a front plate and a back plate that are joined together on the sides. The ring band is adjustable and made of 950 silver.

Question about ring found at antique store.

I found this ring in a bag of jewelry scraps I got at an antique store. It is pretty light and hollow. Used to be a brooch but was made into a ring at some point. I test everything as a rule but was certain this was either plated or brass based on how it sounds when I tap it. Well. It holds under 10,14, 18 and 22k acid. Both the top and the bottom. The ring base itself is sterling silver. I sanded the bottom way down and dripped 14 and 18k acid directly on it and zero reaction. The 22k acid left a dark spot but no fizzing or anything. The acid is brand new and I tested it on a brass plate that immediately fizzed and turned green. I then sanded spots down and it’s gold throughout. Could this actually be gold and just has a weird tinny sound because it is hollow and the two pieces are so thin?

Odd hollow in-marked 14k gold ring with a simple sterling band. Possible religious motif.

Found in a bag of costume jewelry that I thrifted. It holds under 14k acid and does react with direct application. I think there may be some rose gold or copper accent on the front but not sure.

The ring is light, it feels like you are holding an empty Nespresso pod or something. I think it might be in the spirit of Hinduism but I am not sure. The band seems like an after market alteration for sure. There are small marks next to the place where the band meets the amulet maybe a hallmark, maybe.

Edit: I think actually upon doing some more research, the ring may be made of Panchaloha, a five metal alloy made of gold, silver, copper, iron and zinc. The metals represent the five elements of nature.

I was polishing this vintage Native American Sterling and 10k gold bracelet and thought, “What if I leave it at a satin finish?”

What do you guys think?

Also, I’m aware that polishing vintage jewelry is bad. I got it at Savers for $5 and it was scratched so badly it was un-wearable.

Edit: Wow! I think the input is overwhelming pro satin. Thanks guys! Too many comments to respond to each one but thanks!!

Looking for some ID’s on the first four and input on the last two around whether they are HTF.

First is a popeye, it looks brown and yellow at first glance but when back lit goes plum purple. Is it a purple? If not, is the brown and yellow a common color combo? Second one is orange based with black stripes, not sure if it’s a Master patch or maybe an MK. Third is opaque grey with orange stripe. Very strong UV, maybe a pelt or a Kokomo? Almost like a grey dragon but not. Fourth looks like a porcelain or clay marble. Have not seen one with swirls like that, any idea on maker?

Last one is a hand made sulphide. It has bright green fluorescence and has a turtle figurine inside. I have never seen one with a turtle and wanted to know if this is rare/if this marble is worth having polished. Thanks.

Could this be a peltier green fizz and dare I say, possibly a purple fizz? Both have green fluorescence under UV.

Found a bunch of arrowheads and pottery shards in a box at an antique store. This was wrapped separately. I am including photos of the other things in the box if that would help.

I think it is made of gypsum. It looks like it could have been a ceremonial knife blade as it has a distinctly rounded part on one end that seems like it would have had to be an intentional man made feature. Any thoughts of if it is an artifact? Also would love any IDs on anything else shown.

Do I have anything interesting here?

Found these arrow/spear heads inside a tin in a box of fossils, sharks teeth and minerals/mining equipment in a corner of an antique store. Owner said it belonged to a very wealthy miner who collected things he found while prospecting. In addition to the arrowheads, I found some pottery shards, weird tiny round pots and what looks like a knife or wand that is made out of what looks like some kind of selenite/gypsum mineral.

I am hoping for some possible provenances/time periods as well as if any items are possibly rare or valuable. I’m planning to put them in a frame and would leave out anything more valuable to avoid breaking. Also looking for answers on what the other items are!

Last photo is the tin that the smaller arrowheads were packed in. The larger ones were in plastic cases with foam liners.

Hospital ignored requests from insurance company for justification for appendectomy, they denied it. Will I have to pay?

Location: Massachusetts. I had my appendix out last month in an emergency type situation at a local hospital. I was in acute pain and was told the scans showed appendicitis and that it had to come out. I was in the hospital for around 12 hours from around 9 pm to 9 am. Today, I received a notice dated 06/01 from my insurance company stating that they had denied the procedure due to lack of response from the medical provider regarding documentation of medical necessity. They stated that they had reached out to them multiple times and the provider had failed to respond. They stated that I had 30 days from the time of the notice (I had been away the past two weeks so just received it today) to get the provider to respond to appeal the decision, and when I messaged the doctor, I got a vacation response stating that they would be away until the 28th. Im guessing that they went on vacation and missed the notice, my question here is will I be liable for the 60k bill if the provider fails to respond?

Duck stamps values?

I inherited a massive collection years ago dating back to early 1800’s. I spent 3 years sorting and trying to valuate them, however due to sheer size of collection, I never ended up valuing anything after 1900. I was under the impression that most stamps after 1900 were worthless and I just ran out of steam. Today, I saw an article about duck stamps and how they can have value. I remembered having a whole box of them somewhere and even sheets of them so I grabbed one of my albums that I saw some in, and sure enough I do. Is it worth the hours of work it would take to find the rest?

Any ideas on designer? I cannot find a single other bracelet like it. Maybe a charm bracelet or something?

It’s a sterling silver expansion style bracelet with a 14k gold heart. Each part is hallmarked separately and the two parts have different hallmarks.

Hello, I have two littermate kittens, age six and months Gus (male) and Miko (female). They are more like full grown cats at 10 lbs and don’t really know how big they are yet. Typically I play with them a LOT and they are very well behaved. They also have interactive toys as well that they like.

I just had my appendix out a couple days ago and it was bad timing because my SO is away on business so I am running things alone. I am Gus’s preferred person and he is used to sleeping on my stomach and getting lots of pets and cuddles and play from me. Miko likes me but has mostly been languishing by the door waiting for my SO to return and sleeping quietly next to me.

The problem is, I cannot play with Gus as much and he cannot sit on my stomach as he jumped off me roughly earlier and ripped some of the surgical glue. I have been gently moving him and also have ignored some of his play requests due to being tired and in pain and it’s making him MAD.

Every time I gently remove him, or throw a toy for him instead of getting up and using his teaser wand like he wants, he will have a veritable temper tantrum and destroy something or knock something down.

This morning, he swiped a rather large glass framed picture off the wall, and he also swiped my tea onto the floor. He climbed the drapes today and bent the rod and now as I write this, we are in a standoff with him on the dresser leaping repeatedly towards the now bare curtain rod trying to grab the cord for the blinds.

Please help me. He is pulling Miko into his shenanigans and they are also fighting. I feel like a terrible cat parent and have tried so hard to set limits and not spoil him but he is acting so rotten.
