The owner if my local coffee shop that recently went out of business just rang me up at Starbucks.

I hate this "economy."

I hated being at Starbucks I felt so ashamed.

I felt second hand embarrassment for him, but he should be so proud he tried.

Ahhhhhhh

Brainstorm ideas for race start with me?

In my previous races, I did what you're not supposed to do: lined up at the "starting" line (in water starts). I then spent about 500 meters questioning my life choices and swore that if I ever made it out of there alive, I'd never do that again (did it 3 times)

Now approaching my next race, it's another mass start, but now that I'm pondering it, I'm wondering if starting on the back or the sides is a good idea for me.

The advantages of starting near the front:
-no choice but to get warmed up quickly and get into it
-people go over, around, and under you; you just have to focus on getting out of the pack
-not losing time on your start

The alternative means I'll likely have to swim over and around people, which doesn't seem like something I'd love doing, and I go need to get ahead and be swimming with the faster (not fastest) people or I'll have no one to pace myself with and I get stressed when I find myself too alone.

Might be worth saying this is a 5k as opposed to a 3.5 I did before. I think there will be about 200 of us.

Any tips or alternative strategies?

Comment montrer mon soutien lors d'un enterrement sans rentrer dans l'église ?

Ma collègue est décédée et l'enterrement est demain. On y va tous.

Oh wow I botched these, is making them less blurry, more clear even possible?

AI accepted of course, let me know if it's just not feasible. I think they are likely over exposed.

Outdoor pool for lap swimming?

Hey, coming to Boise for a month end of July to visit my mom.

Google search wasn't very fruitful.

Are there any outdoor pools with lap swimming times, public or private?

Prices of entry to public pools in various cities, submitted by you

I asked you yesterday how much a single adult ticket was to your local public pool and I got around 200 responses. Here is my data visualized. I translated all amounts to US dollars, and tried to only take into account public pools. I did not factor in extras like saunas, discounts, memberships, or time spent at pool.

Our hearts go out to you, our most expensive entries:

London England $11.56
Cork Ireland $12.80
Vilnius Lithuania $13.97
Luzern Switzerland $17.82
Hamilton Bermuda $20.00
Oslo Norway $20.96
Los Angeles USA $22.00

Congrats to the following places that have entries under $2:

Washington DC USA $0.00
Toronto Canada $0.00
Boston USA $0.00
Montreal Canada $0.00
Medellin Columbia $0.00
NYC USA $0.00
Gatineau Canada $0.00
Austin Texas $0.00
New Orleans USA $0.00
Baguio City Philippines $0.81
Chennai India $1.25
Selangor Malaysia $1.26
Singapore Singapore $1.57
Ilvaho Portugal $1.86
Alabama USA $2.00

Of all the submissions, the average adult pool entry was $6.31.

How much does your pool cost in your country/city?

Respond with:
Price per adult entry/Public/private/City, Country

3€/Public/Lille, France

What prompted this post? I was looking to join the local YMCA where my mom lives (USA) while I visit her for a month this summer, and a monthly fee there costs more than my YEARLY fee in France. I guess that is why there is only one swimmer per lane at her pool, and about 10 per lane in my pool.
