Tips for using a menstrual cup?

I love the menstrual cup as I hate spending money on period products, but it hurts to take it out. It’s fine to get it in, but taking it out hurts the opening very much, specifically the posterior fourchette. I like the Flex cup because there’s the pull tab, but the moment the seal breaks is when it hurts and it’s like a sudden shock. Any tips for how to remove it more smoothly, or are there smaller ones on the market?

Slow-burn friends-to-lovers recommendations

I’ve been craving the slow burn friends-to-lovers unrequited yearning trope lately. And when I say slow burn I mean SLOW. I want it so unrealistically dramatic and complex. Think Where Rainbows End (movie adaptation is called Love, Rosie). I need more of that pls and thx

Best way to plant creeping thyme?

I live in zone 4b, so it's too late to plant them now, but next spring I would like to plant creeping thyme between my pavers. I'm thinking I will use a sod cutter to remove the existing grass, then a tiller to break up the soil, and then sow the seeds. I want to do it as cheaply as possible so I would like to start them from seeds, but is that the most effective way to do it?

I also need to know how often to water. Some sources are telling me to keep them watered regularly all the time, others are saying only water regularly when they are young, and then they get drought-tolerant as they get bigger. Any help appreciated

Need help knowing when and how often to water my trees!

I live in zone 4b, and I have 7 trees.

One weeping birch

One maple

One plum tree which has leaves but hasn't bore fruit in the past 2 or 3 years

Four ash trees

I live in an old house so these trees are all 40-60 years old as far as I know. The youngest I believe are the ash trees, but those are still at least 30 years old.

I don't know how often and for how long I should be watering them, if at all. Where I live it gets very cold in the winter and very hot and dry in the summer, we get very occasional rain , but it's mostly dry and smokey in the summer.

A protective top for an electric stovetop

Wondering if there’s some kind of protective and heat conductive material that you could put on top of an electric stove so you could cook on top of it, but not have to scrub and scratch your actual stove all the time. I have a traditional electric stove, not an induction

Tricks to wake up earlier in the mornings?

My biggest discipline problem is getting out of bed.

I am kinda spoiled at my job, because I don't have a schedule. I can literally just show up whenever I want within reason. We are open 10-5:30, so just close to that general window is fine. As long as I am getting my work done, it doesn't matter when I clock in and out. I really love it because the flexibility allows for the ebbs and flows of life, but the downside is that I have nothing forcing me out of bed in the mornings. I need more money, and for that I need more hours. Ideally I want to start coming into work at 9, so I'd have to get up around 8 to allow enough time for my typical morning routine.

What usually ends up happening is my alarm goes off, and I snooze it about 15-20 times. Then I roll out of bed at like 11, make my breakfast, and head out, getting to work a little after noon. The sleep inertia is KILLER because the second I open my eyes, it's like there's a weight on my entire body and nothing feels better than drifting back into sleep.

And what's really frustrating is that it does not matter what time I get in bed the night before. It's like my body decided one day that 10-11 is when we wake up, regardless of bedtime. I could go to sleep at 2am, get 8 hours of sleep. I could go to bed at midnight, get 10 hours of sleep. It doesn't even matter if I fall asleep at 8pm - I will sleep for 14 hours. My brain just refuses to start blooming until 10-11 no matter how much sleep I've gotten.

So what are your tricks for getting your ass out of bed? The two I want to implement starting tomorrow are keeping a spray bottle beside my bed to spray myself in the face like a naughty cat, and putting my alarm clock on the other side of the room so I have to stand up in order to turn it off. Any additional tips and I'll love you forever

ELI5: how do the 811 people know where the utility lines are?

This morning I had an 811 guy come to my house to check for utility lines so I can dig for landscaping. I wasn't there, but my mom let him in the yard and she said it only took him like five minutes. I thought it was gonna be a multi-hour thing. Do they have some sort of detectors??

In this line up, what is the difference between le-mon, o-range, and man-go?

I don't know music, I can't read music. But I am trying to learn piano and my only knowledge of chords and notes is from middle school choir. Between lemon, orange, and mango, what is the difference between the notes? How long each syllable is held?

I will literally never get over this

Unpopular opinion I kinda don't like Rikki. I think her character is great and definitely needed for the show cause it adds a cool dynamic between her and the other girls, but she lowkey sucks. Not only this hypocritical moment, but earlier in the scene where Cleo and Emma confront her, Emma says "Zane's going to keep looking for his mermaid. You going out with him is going to bring him closer to us." and how does Rikki respond? "Thanks. So not only am I stupid, I'm just as bad as Zane" NOBODY EVER SAID THAT 😭😭 She's trying so hard to flip the script because nothing can ever be her fault. And I have so many more examples for Rikki's inability to take accountability for anything lol

What can I add to this dress to make it slightly more of a Renaissance vibe?

For context, I am attending three weddings this year, so I opted to just make one formal dress for all three. One of the weddings is Ren Faire themed, and guests are encouraged to dress on theme and I'd really like to! So I figured instead of creating a whole new outfit, I could maybe add some accessories to the one I already have to make it more Renaissance Faire appropriate. Any ideas appreciated, and I'm a seamstress and a crafter so nothing is too far out of my wheelhouse!

A solar-powered power strip/outlet strip

Wonder if there such thing as a power strip/extension cord that is solar powered rather than plugging into the wall, that you could run through the window. Or even just a solar panel that has a few outlets so that you don't have to completely redo your house's energy system

▲ 184 r/childfree

I have to be open and honest, this is the only concern I have about staying childfree. It's not enough to change my mind of course, I’m still staying childfree, but sometimes I do think a little too much about it. How do you guys seriously consider this question? I don't want joke/sarcastic answers, because sometimes I genuinely spiral about it. If one didn't have enough money for a retirement home, and one's spouse was deceased, literally what then
Edit: wowzers I was not expecting this many comments😭 I’ll try to read them all when I have more time. To clarify a couple things I am 100% childfree, I’m not a fence sitter. I’m just expressing that the uncertainty of life when I’m old is the only downside to being childfree, in my own opinion. I don’t come from generational wealth and as time goes on, the rich just get richer and the poor get poorer. It doesn’t give me crazy anxiety nor do I lie awake thinking about it, it’s just something that crosses my mind because while I do love my alone time, I have a slight fear of being unable to be independent when I’m old and retired. I watched as my mom took such good care of my grandmother as she got “old and decrepit,” as she put it herself. My mom didn’t have to do that, but my grandma was really grateful to have such a big family to support her in her old age. So when I look at my future, I know I’ll look back and have no regrets about staying CF, but I just can’t help but wonder what things will be like for me as an old lady. Thank you everyone for the support I love this community :)

I re-watch episodes randomly, and I just watched S2 E19 & 20, The Gracie Code parts 1 and 2, and I felt like doing some math. So Ms. Chatham mentions in season 1 that she and her friends became mermaids at age 15 just like Cleo and her friends. It's also stated that it happened fifty years prior to S1, so 1956. (Ms. Chatham says that Gracie "lost" her locket in the moon pool, and then in The Gracie Code Pt. 1 we find out that she actually intentionally threw it in the pool, which I find funny, but I digress) And you can't claim that maybe the show takes place in a different year than it's filmed, because in The Gracie Code Pt. 1, Lewis says that Max Hamilton did his Mako research "fifty years ago; in 1957." So, if the three were 15 years old in 1956, that means they would've been born roughly 1941. Our main characters, including Charlotte, are presumably 16 in S2, so born around 1991. Charlotte says that her grandmother died when she was six years old, therefore 1997. So that means that Gracie must have died at the age of 56! And now I'm trying ot think of all the possible ways that she could've died so young lol

I have a 1981 Realistic Clarinette 102 record player that isn't turning anymore, the motor works but the platter just won't rotate. Any repair shops in Helena or nearby towns that repair similar mechanisms?
