Songs on the Severn: Why These Gloucester Boys Sing Sea Shanties

I've published the most recent blog post for The Rusty Tubs looking at why we sing sea shanties, despite being so inland.

I'd love feedback and to hear how you all got into shanties.

Any recommendations for who to see at Festival-Maritim in Bremen-Vegesack?

This weekend I'm off to Festival-Maritim, in Bremen-Vegesack, singing with The Rusty Tubs.

Are there any groups we should make a point of seeing whilst there? Cheers.

WIP porting, and modifying, RMXP RTP to RMMV

I've been porting, modifying and extending the RMXP RTP to work in RMMV for my game with a 1920s vibe inspired by Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds.

1 year on the garden, still a work in progress

My wife and I moved onto our house about two years ago but only started tackling the garden last spring/summer. The last image is the before.

The previous home owner had mobility issues and had chosen to tarmac a good chunk of the garden and install a green house.

We chose to tear up the tarmac (still need to finish and sort the edge out.) and put down a bit more grass from seed - which we shaped as a circle. I thought a circle would be a more interesting shape and gave us space to surround the lawn with plans and make it feel more private.

With the larger flower beds we have been able to plant a great variety of flowers to attract the bees and we turned a large plant pot into a little pond too. We wanted to encourage biodiversity and did have a bug hotel, but it was destroyed by someone fleeing the police through our garden!

I'm not a gardener, or at least I wasn't, but my wife loves gardening - she's the brains behind the operation I've just done the labouring.

We started working on the garden last year as a sort of escape. We suffered a miscarriage at 11 and a half weeks. Our garden was calming place for us during countless hospital visits and in the aftermath.

I've really enjoyed watching everything grow and the birds and insects come to the garden. Tilly the cat also loves exploring it too.

Today we entered week 13 of a new pregnancy - we're very excited and very anxious. But the garden looks nice and I like to come out here and enjoy the quiet.
