FINALLY got Raru down to below 60 seconds!

Been farming Eve of the Final Confrontation for good seals. If you didn’t know, you can “usually” get 1 ++ seal there in less than 2 minutes total time. Phantom fights are great for getting 11 or so meh seals. But this and a few other fights are way faster with a higher chance of 1 ++ seal.

I’ve been leading with Calimo and smashing with Braton. Their setups are in the pictures. I basically just run up and spam alternating ice and electric tornados with Y chip damage between. It’s usually 4 tornados before he’s ready to smash. Then I switch to Braton to smash. If you didn’t know, Braton’s smash does more damage than any other character’s smash and can KO Raru here in 3 smashes instead of everyone else’s 4.

I’ve kitted a lot of weapons with interesting seals from farming this for a week now. I started in the 2 minute 45 second range. I knew I could get it below 60 seconds if I honed things. I had to get control of Calimo’s jumps because if you aren’t pressing forward for a certain moment before you press B your character will jump backwards, which wastes time. And I had to start “herding” Raru back toward Braton while stunlocking and chipping him because it’s easy to push Raru off in a straight line if you don’t think about it. Then Braton is really far away and it wastes more time. I’m still figuring out how the elements work in conjunction with each other. But when I started alternating between ice and electric it did a better job of getting the bright cracks and reducing his gage faster.

Anybody else farming this fight? How quick have you gotten it? Got any tips? Know of any other good fights to farm for seals or items?

Age of Imprisonment Weapon Build Compendium:

There doesn’t appear to be a dedicated collection of weapon builds in this sub or anywhere else online. This made building my own more difficult because I didn’t know what worked for others. So let’s start one.

Post a screen shot of any of your strongest, favorite, or cheesiest weapon builds and share your thoughts on how it’s worked for you, any tricks to using it, what you like or dislike about it, what you would improve about it, etc. Be sure to name your build too!

The neat thing about Age of Imprisonment builds are that they aren’t particularly solved yet. There are no “one best build” for each weapon and character. I usually main my Rending Arrow Abuse build below. But a balanced Raphica build could work just as well. Or a Synch build. So share yours. Maybe you’ll find something cool and new!

Also, here is a great resource explaining what seals are available, what weapons are strong, etc, to help you brainstorm ideas:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PV054_qwWKw9IDFwu3AvRNV1Tm99WBTrrgcaQDblKFE/htmlview

I’ll start with my Great Eagle Bow build. I’ll post more weapon builds in the comments.

Rending Arrows Abuse Bow:

In case you didn’t know, there’s a glitch or possibly an intended bug with Raphica’s Rending Arrows shield breaker unique skill. It’s designed to spam a LOT of arrows that do moderate damage over a wide area. BUT, if you use it very close to a targeted enemy ALL of the arrows hit the enemy and do ALL of that damage to it. It’s by far the highest damage attack in the game. It instantly destroys weak gages and allows you to stun juggle and KO even groups of Phantom Ganons, on at least lower difficulty settings. Often I don’t even bother opening the weak point gage and just run up and use it in their face to 1hko or 2hko lesser bosses.

Pictured is my build to maximize this idea. I’ve got 3 unique skill +12% star seals (boy did I get lucky finding these in bow and pristine early on!), I kept his +10% to targeted enemies star seal, and I threw in a special charge +8% hexagon seal, and an extend weak point hexagon seal, just to maximize the seal synergy and weapon total damage while still doing consistently useful things.

This has been my go to character and weapon for most stages. Once his 3 special and synch gages are filled he can stun juggle and solo even groups of lynels and groups of Phantom Ganons in less than a minute without taking damage or being in any danger. This is on easy difficulty while farming, to be clear. I haven’t begun the forbidden difficulty slog yet. But I image he’ll be useful there too. I got a useful tip about this abuse from a Hyrule Warriors Dojo video last night that spamming his Y+X attack is a quick way to refill his unique skill gage so I suspect this strategy will still be viable on forbidden difficulty, just with more dodging around.

Anybody know what unlocks “A Fated Meeting”?

Game 8, zeldawiki, and Google fail to list what unlocks this Depths battle. Which is weird because they usually list what unlocks what. It’s the last thing I need to get the Mighty Zonaite Spear.

[edit]

Just preserving this for future googlers; the mission that unlocks “A Fated Meeting” is “The Archfiend Quartet”.

How would you build a 1 handed ++ Special Attack?

I’ve got 3 ++ Special Attack seals. 1 for a 1 handed and 2 for pristine. I understand Special Attack isn’t nearly as good in AoI as it was in previous HWs. But I’m having a bit of trouble thinking of where to apply them. Do any 1 handed characters or weapons stand out? I’ve only ever been using Special Attacks to stagger enemies. I’ve never noticed any specific character doing more with their Special Attack.
