Honey, I Shrunk the Kids inspired me to build this LEGO tribute

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids has always been one of my favorite Disney movies from the '80s.

Like many kids back then, I remember walking into my backyard after watching it and imagining that every blade of grass was a tree, every pebble was a mountain, and every insect was a giant creature.

That sense of wonder never left me.

Years later, I decided to combine two lifelong passions—classic '80s movies and LEGO—by recreating that incredible backyard adventure entirely with LEGO bricks.

The model was designed in BrickLink Studio using genuine LEGO elements, and the presentation images were finished in GIMP to create a cinematic atmosphere. No AI-generated images were used.

I loved the result so much that I decided to submit it to LEGO Ideas, where fans can support projects for a chance to become official LEGO sets.

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids – Modular Diorama

I've always loved Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, so I decided to recreate that incredible backyard adventure as a LEGO MOC.

The goal was to make an ordinary garden feel huge again, with oversized plants, giant insects and tiny minifigures.

The model was designed entirely with real LEGO elements in BrickLink Studio, and the final presentation was enhanced in GIMP for the cinematic background and lighting.

I hope you enjoy it! I'd love to hear what you think and which scene from the movie you'd like to see recreated next.

One of my favorite childhood movies, so I recreated it in LEGO

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids was one of my favorite movies growing up, so I decided to recreate some of its most iconic scenes in LEGO.

This 3,000+ piece diorama includes Mimi the Ant, the giant Oreo cookie, the famous blue LEGO brick, the bee, the scorpion, and several scenes from the backyard adventure.

It took me more than two years to redesign and refine the project into its current form.

What scene from the movie do you remember most?

LEGO Ideas project: Honey, I Shrunk the Kids inspired backyard adventure

Hi everyone,

I’m excited to share my LEGO Ideas project inspired by Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.

The build features a giant backyard scene from a tiny perspective, where the kids must survive in a world filled with oversized grass, insects, and everyday objects turned into massive obstacles.

This project is a tribute to the movie and the sense of adventure it created, and I’ve spent a lot of time trying to capture that feeling in LEGO form.

If you like it, your support on LEGO Ideas would mean a lot. Thank you for taking a look!

Remember Honey, I Shrunk the Kids? I recreated it in LEGO

I built a LEGO Ideas project inspired by Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.

The goal was to capture that classic 80s feeling of a giant backyard world seen from a tiny perspective — where grass, insects, and everyday objects become massive obstacles.

This movie was a big part of my childhood, and I wanted to bring that sense of adventure and wonder into LEGO form.

Hope it brings back some memories 🙂
