Short story:

Summer 2025 I started following the dietetic protocol to have bariatric surgery. I lost 44lbs/20kg without the surgery, and plan to continue without it.

What's happening to my Nepenthes ?

First time Nepenthes parent, i bought this baby one month ago. Went all well until it got in the greenhouse.. it started developing strange spots in one week. I saw no pest at the microscope.

Care/conditions:
It's in a netpot, repotted in live sphagnum + perlite and watered with spring water every 3/4 days. Greenhouse around 70 to 80% hygro, more at night. Temp. 33 to 37 Celcious the day, 30-33 at night. Light medium to bright.

Seller sells the same plant with different prices

When you compare the "splash", you can clearly see it's the same plant but different pictures, description, name and price. Are they doing a social experiment with us ? 😅

Nepenthes ID ?

Leaves are matte/fuzzy 💚

Also I plan to switch for sphagnum moss, would it be okey ?

How old does my kitten look ?

I need help to identify Mochi's age. I want to know how munch longer I have to give him kitten food.

He was found on the streets and brought to a vet 4 month ago. They gave him a birth date in august 2025. Last month ago i went to another vet and he told me he's probably much younger then that, but there's no way to be sure.

So what are your thoughts ? Does he look 10 month or younger ?

Hoya medinillifolia - Need help !

I treated myself to this little beauty in early March 2026. It arrived in an organic substrate (probably peat or coco coir + perlite), healthy, pest-free, and with four large leaves. I made two cuttings: one with two leaves, and the other a bare stem.
I repotted the base without disturbing the root ball in coco coir/perlite mix. I planted the two-leaf cutting in Lechuza pon, and the stem in sphagnum moss.

At first, everything was fine: the cutting in pon rooted quickly, and the mother plant produced a new stem and leaves. But in early April (pic 1), I noticed that my cutting in pon was starting to develop yellowish marks. Until then, I hadn't given it any fertilizer, so I suspected a potential deficiency. I started giving it water with a very low concentration of mineral fertilizer (NPK 7-3-5). After two weeks, the leaves turned yellow/light green. I checked the roots: everything had rotted. Nothing could be saved, it ended up in the trash (pic 2).

[As an aside: At that time, I had other plants with a similar problem of yellow spots/lightening. When I discussed it on Reddit, several people told me it could be due to my water pH being too high. I know that pH can disrupt nutrient absorption, but since my plants were growing well, I never worried about it. So I tested my tap water: it's around 8 and becomes even more alkaline in my semi-hydroponic setup. I decided to buy a phosphoric acid-based pH regulator, now since 2 month my watering ph is around 6/6.5.
Ultimately, the most likely explanation for the yellowing on several of my hoyas seems to have been fungal disease. I did cut off the most affected parts, isolated the plants, and treated them with a general fungicide. The problem appears to have been resolved. In the end, none of the plants died (except for Medinillifolia)]

Mid-April (pic 3): The mother plant has produced 4 light green leaves (actually, it's not yellowish like in the photo).
Mid-May (pic 4): A month later, its new leaves still haven't matured to a darker green like the lower leaves. They have become slightly yellowish, as has the stem.
Late May (pic 5, 6): More new leaves are emerging, and the difference in color is clearly visible. The base is starting to develop yellow spots. Yet, it continues to root.
Late May (pic 7, 8): The stem in a sphagnum-zeolite-perlite mix took very well and produced four leaves, unfortunately very light green...
Late May to early June (pic 9 to 18): The mother plant declined and died within 10 days. I tried to save it by taking cuttings of the last two nodes in fluval stratum, but they died the next day.
This morning (pic 19): I think my last cutting is stabilizing, despite the foliage still being pale. It has been under low light and low humidity (40-50%) for about a month.

Possible causes of the decline: pH too high, pH too low, grow light too strong, fertilizer imbalance, deficiency in a specific nutrient, excessive humidity, fungal disease, bacterial disease, substrate too wet or too compacted, pests (invisible under 50x magnification).

I'd really appreciate your opinion. I'm open to any advice or hypotheses at this stage !

P.S. My phone doesn't handle white balance well; I don't always get the same result from one pic to another. Some look more or less yellow than they actually are.

This is what a sunburned hoya looks like

Just in 1 day.

  1. Hoya Epc 825

  2. undulata x finlaysonii

  3. Gunung Gading. upper leaves has only a slight discoloration because it' partially shaded during the day and she's more resilient to full sun then others.

What cut would suit me ?

My hair is naturally chestnut (dyed purple now) and wavy/curly. I have a cowlick just above my forehead.

My project is to find a cut that's original and low maintenance. I also want to dye it blue.

I'll add some inspo pics, but feel free to post other stuff too !
