Does season 4 pick up?

Hi there! I’ve been sucked into the Outlander universe and have finished the first 3 seasons over the last 2 months. Such an amazing show.

No spoilers please, but I’m a little worried about season 4. I’m already on ep 4 and it just feels so slow and dull compared to season 3 (which I absolutely loved). It’s also weirdly the first time I’ve gotten annoyed at Claire and found her and Jamie’s actions a little dumb.. smuggling a wanted man past redcoats (when Jamie is FINALLY a free man), the entire debacle at his aunt’s estate (understandably a horrible situation, but I still think it was handled poorly), Claire wandering off by herself in a thunderstorm. Just ugh.

This could probably be a post in itself but the scenes with Bri are hard for me to watch as well. Her acting and accent are awful and really take me out of it :/

Please tell me it gets better!! I’ve fallen in love with this show and am hoping things will turn around.

Blowout place?

Hi bwt, where can I get a decent blowout? The old school ones with a lot of volume, rollers etc. I’m not skilled enough to do it myself (I’ve tried 🥲) and my current stylist is amazing with my color but sucks at styling lol. Help!!

Dance bars for mid 20s-mid 30s?

Hi ladies! I’m 32 and still really love dressing up, going out and dancing. I don’t mind clubs with a mix of ages but I’ve noticed some of my go-to spots are now almost entirely college aged/early 20s and it kinda sucks being the only person so much older (Monroe’s, Tupelo, the Raven, Audio…).

Does anyone have recommendations? My favorite club right now is 1015 but I’d like to switch it up every now and then 😅

No spoilers please!! Thoughts on Season 3 so far

I’m on episode 5 of season 3, so please no spoilers for future episodes or seasons!!

——

I know I’m late to the party but I finished ep 4 of season 3 and sweet lord this season is soul crushing. I’m not one for crying during a tv show and it feels like every episode so far has broke me.

First- we finally get to see a different side of Frank and while I initially didn’t care for him I found myself bawling while he was on that table in the ER. Here’s a man who desperately tried to salvage their marriage and love both Claire and Bri unconditionally, and watching him be rejected over and over and watching their marriage deteriorate was so hard. Then he asks for the divorce so he can be with someone who actually loves him only to pass away before it can even happen.

Then Jamie… holy hell. The hardest part for me is watching everything he’s missed out on, that he KNOWS he’s missed out on. Claire giving birth, Bri going through her entire childhood without even knowing who he is, her graduating and becoming a woman, etc. He’s always wanted to be a father and take care of his family and that’s been ripped away from him. Then later after whats-her-face gives birth and passes away, and he’s looking down at his son and realizing he has to watch him grow up from afar. It’s sweet he decides to stay and look after him in whatever way he can, but also heartbreaking that he’s not able to truly father him like he’d want to. Jamie’s just been to hell and back so many times, no one deserves a happy ending more than him. And obviously all the scenes where he’s still pining for Claire after all these years. Amazing acting all around.

And lastly, Claire.. while not surprising, it is hard watching her marriage fail so miserably with Frank. And seeing just how isolated she feels in a world she doesn’t fit in anymore.

It’s KILLING me not knowing when/how her and Jamie will reconnect but I don’t want to spoil it for myself. I’m praying there’s some magic time reversal thing that happens so they are both younger again. Oh man what a great show.

Anyone else still go out in their 30s? Does the FOMO actually go away?

Hi everyone. I’m 32F and am still in the same routine I’ve had my entire adult life of going out drinking and dancing on Fridays and recovering on Saturdays. As I’ve gotten older I’ve noticed it’s starting to impact my relationships- not because I’m out of control or have dependence problems, but it feels like those around me have aged out of it and want to do other things now. My partner for example used to love going out with me (we’ve been together 6 years) and now would rather stay home and watch Netflix. Most of my friends are in totally different life stages (like taking care of their kids).

What’s confusing is it feels like I’ve been told my entire life I’d grow out of it, and I see memes all the time about being excited to stay home and cancel plans etc etc. And I just can’t relate at all. I love dressing up, going out, and having that controlled sense of debauchery once a week. And if I can’t go out for whatever reason I feel FOMO and it honestly ruins my weekend.

Part of me wishes I didn’t feel compelled to go out since I know drinking is awful for you and it would help me relate more to women my age (it’s been hard making friends when our ideas of a fun Friday night are so different).

Anyways, apologies this is so long.. can anyone else relate? Is it possible I’ll grow out of it at a later point?

Makeup that won’t slide off my face?

Hi everyone!

I’m 32 and am realizing my go-to going out makeup might not work for me anymore. I’ve always used primer, a natural finish foundation and a pretty heavy layer of powder to set everything using the beauty blender powder puff and powder blush on top of this. What I like about this method is it lasts literally all night- absolutely nothing budges for 12+ hours. But it’s also emphasizing nasolabial folds, small lines around my eyes etc and the super matte look is kind of aging. I’ve tried not using the setting powder but my foundation just slides right off. It feels like my foundation is sitting on the surface of all my products and will literally just rub/slide off at the touch of anything.

I’m anticipating the comments saying I should stick to a super minimal skin tint, but unfortunately I’m dealing with type 1 +2 rosacea and really need the full coverage :/ I don’t wear this every day but I do need more of a full face for nights out.

If helpful, I use Vanicream facial moisturizer, the Maybelline “Master prime” primer (the clear one that says Blur + Pore Minimizer), the L’oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation, and Maybelline Fit Me powder.

Any tips would be appreciated!! I’m open to more expensive products if needed.

Makeup routine with staying power that doesn’t age you?

Hi everyone!

What I like about this method is it lasts literally all night- absolutely nothing budges for 12+ hours. Office-appropriate jean recs?

Hi ladies!

I normally wear low rise baggy jeans or low-mid rise bootcut but need something a little more formal. I started a new hybrid job and while it’s a pretty casual office I feel like what I own is just too casual.

I’ve been to a few stores and feel like I’m going a bit crazy. Madewell feels a little too older millennial (why is everything cropped or super high waisted?) and Gap jeans didn’t have any stretch and felt too baggy. I’d like to find a low-mid rise straight legged Jean that works well with office looks (but open to other styles too).

Any tips would be appreciated!! 🙏

Doxy and Ivermectin experiences?

Hi everyone. I’ve been dealing with type 2 rosacea all over my face for about 3 years but finally made an appointment and saw a derm. She’s put me on 30 days of 100mg doxycycline and 1% Ivermectin topical cream.

I’m only 3 days in, but I’ve been feeling so incredibly depressed with my skin and it’s so hard to feel hopeful it will get better. It’s just taken a huge toll on my mental health. If anyone has positive stories taking either of these I’d really appreciate it (esp the doxy, which has been brutal on my stomach).

Looking for dark romance kdrama recs!

Hi everyone!

I just finished a drama and need to fill this void I feel!! I loved it and can’t stop thinking about it. I’d appreciate suggestions.

I love dark romance or dramatic/thriller romance the most, but have also enjoyed more light-hearted and quirky dramas too.

A few I’ve really loved:
-Crash Landing on You
-Mr Plankton
-When the phone rings
-Mad for each other
-Can this love be translated
-It’s ok to not be ok

What I haven’t enjoyed:
-Queen of Tears (I’m having such a hard time getting into this. It’s just so slow and I hate all the leads right now. Maybe it will get better)
-The interest of love
-Dr Slump (parts were ok but I found it super slow)
-Vincenzo (stopped watching halfway through because I was so bored).

Meals that reheat well?

Hi everyone. I try and cook most meals at home and have found that I gravitate towards meals that taste just as good (or almost as good) reheated. However the dishes I’ve been cycling through are getting old. I’d appreciate some meal inspo/suggestions!

Bonus points for meals that don’t have to be assembled or where you’re heating stuff up individually. A few of my go tos:

-Chili (obviously)
-Pasta with meat sauce
-Most curries. I make tikka masala with chicken thighs as well as a chickpea curry often (I’m a cooking noob though and usually use pre-made simmer sauces, which can get expensive)

———

Edit: thank you all for the suggestions!! Going to try some of these out next week. Also I unfortunately don’t have a crock pot but might invest in one now.

Super easy meals that reheat well?

Hi everyone. I’ve been trying to cook most of my meals to save money and improve my health but desperately need some dinner ideas. It feels like so many easy recipes aren’t actually that easy (or, yes, maybe I’m just lazy). I’m in the middle of a body recomp too, so I’m trying to eat mostly whole foods and high protein.

My go-to is sautéed extra lean ground beef + taco seasoning with chopped onion and bell peppers over rice. This is the perfect amount of effort for me- minimal prep (chopping an onion and bell pepper), super fast cooking time and reheats well. I also make protein pasta with meat sauce often because it also reheats well.

Any ideas would be appreciated!! Bonus points if it’s a one pot meal 🙏

I know Equinox has a questionable rep but I’ve been a member for 5 years because I wanted something that felt more luxurious and less crowded. However over the last year or so it feels like many Equinox locations have deteriorated. The Union St location in particular has broken and run-down equipment, dirty bathrooms, rude staff, hoards of people during peak hours so there’s waits for equipment, etc etc. And they’re still charging $310/month.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I don’t really mind the cost but I’m looking for something that actually feels worth it (ideally with Pilates/barre classes as well).
