went to the dentist after five years

went to the dentist yesterday after five years of not going (covid, moving states, anxiety & no money). my job paid for it!! i have a smiley, depression and chronic gastritis that causes vomiting spells & wouldn’t brush my teeth during depressive episodes so i was afraid i had weak enamel, gum recession, and cavities. but my dentist told me my teeth were really good and i haven’t no cavities!! she even asked if i had braces before because my teeth were so straight and i haven’t !! taking this as a sign to keep up oral health but i was told i can keep my smiley due to genetics and to “keep doing what im doing and come back next year” :)))

wwyd?

i got very sick this week and had to go to the er. i only had one on app booking with a regular i’ve worked with ~4 (i can’t remember) times that im close enough with. my booking was at noon but i went to the er around 11am and i just have the flu and pink eye, but i missed the booking window by 7 hours. i let them know and they were okay with it, and they had asked me if i could do one more day because their son was sick and couldn’t travel back. anyway, i was thinking of giving them that extra visit for free due to me leaving their fur babies alone for an additional unplanned 7 hours, but i feel like im running a bad business when i do so😅😅 i still will but wwyd?

first bite and feeling guilty

i’ve walked for this dog for ~4 months two to three times a week. i specialize in reactive animals because of my background, low anxiety w pets and training experience. i’ve worked with soo many large animals who are reactive but this is my first time being bit.

he was focused on biting their neighbors on our left but i pulled him to the right and during his lunge, he latched on to my arm momentarily. i know he didn’t mean it, he saw my sleeve and bit and released almost immediately after realizing what he did and showed appeasement behavior after. i told his parents what happened and i made sure they knew i didn’t blame him and wouldn’t drop him as a client because i understand fearful animals but i do feel guilty. i feel like i handled it poorly although i am glad he acted towards me and not the neighbors. i just feel bad for his parents because i know they feel bad. has anyone dealt with this? i don’t feel like dropping him as a client because i truly think it all happened so fast and this is my first time being bit and he is such a sweet boy 99% of the time. wwyd?

tldr: bit by reactive client. don’t want to drop but on the mend and feel guilty about how it went down so maybe i should so they can find a super experienced person.
