Pretend this is September 25th 2019 and that this Main Box just released
Has anyone ever heard of this niche card called "Doom Day" before?
What's your favorite meme in Magic XD
/uj this is so fucking embarrassing, I can't believe creatives are consistently going for the lowest hanging fruit just so casuals can go "woah this is awesome actually!!! 🤓", this card game used to mean something beyond "Thing I Know From Pop Culture"
Bring forth the Age of Ultron (infinite mana and robots) for
Step 1- Make sure your Master Transmuter (*3U*) does not have summoning sickness;
Step 2- Cast the glorious Ultron for *3*;
Step 3- Cast the humble Ornithopter for 0;
Step 4- Cast Intruder Alert for *2U*;
Step 5- Activate Master Transmuter's ability for *U*, returning Ornithopter to hand and putting Chromatic Orrery into play;
Step 6- Ultron will trigger, asking you to pay 2 to create a 2/2 copy of the Orrery. In response, tap Orrery to create 5 mana, then use 2 of it to create a 2/2 Robot copy of it;
Step 7- Intruder Alert will trigger, untapping Master Transmuter;
Step 8- Activate Master Transmuter's ability for *U* (using 1 of the floating mana from the Orrery), returning Chromatic Orrery to hand and putting it back into play;
Step 9- Go to Step 6 and repeat ad infinitum!
yusei players i promise you your deck isnt that complicated to play
Can you cast an Airbent Prepared Spell?
Here's the situation: we were playing in paper, I had [[Sanar, Unfinished Genius]] and I attempted to cast his prepared spell. My opponent flashed in [[Aang, Swift Savior]] targeting the prepared spell.
Neither of us knew what happened to the prepared spell then: can it be cast for 2 from exile, or does it just disappear and can't be cast again since Sanar is no longer prepared?
(we resolved it by realising he didn't have enough mana to cast Aang anyhow lol)
flavor WIN or FAIL???? lets see if WOTC is worthy XD
Here's a non-exhaustive list of some "worthy" characters in MTG
IMHO, Horsemanship is the most broken keyword, and this is why
For a bit of context, my first TCG was Metazoo (which I'm still playing competitively) and I've played and am interested in a variety of TCGs, namely:
- Boy Crazy
- Bakugan (Gen 1)
- Bakugan (Gen 2)
- The X-Files Collectible Card Game
I've recently got into Magic by having a deck idea derived from Boy Crazy's "Jock Crush" decks.
As a veteran MetaZoo player, one of the card design trends I hate the most is the "just get benefits for playing the game" (i.e. No notion of cost, risk, or reward, just pure advantage for playing the game).
And this is what brings us back to Magic's `Horsemanship`.
In my very limited experience with Magic, `Horsemanship` is so far the only keyword that triggers upon simply doing one of the actions you'll always do in a game of Magic: attacking.
> NB: There are other "contenders" like effects that trigger when a creature enters, or when a sorcery is casted, or when an instant is casted, etc. But none are as quintessential to every single deck's core gameplay as just attacking
The fact that `Horsemanship` rewards you for attacking in a resource-based game like Magic means that, from a theoretical perspective, those decks will always have an edge as they are guaranteed to have their effects trigger often.
