2026 Solterra Efficiency in Hot Weather

Today I made the same 15 mile trip twice, first with 100 degree weather and AC on, and 2nd with 90 degree-later in the evening- with window down. Big difference in efficiency.

90F Window Down: 6.2 miles per kwh

100F AC on : 3.2 miles per kwh

Acoustic Glass and Sound Dampening Difference between Trims

I have seen this mentioned by several people, could anyone provide material showing the lack of acoustic glass or sound dampening in the Premium trim? I just want to put this issue to rest. I find it hard to believe they would put a different windshield or skimp on insulation for a specific trim.

12v Battery Good after Four Day absence

Happy to report that I have returned from a four day trip to a fully functioning battery. I was afraid to be a victim of another 12v battery drain. Not in this case.

Buying 2015 e-Golf as 2nd car

Do you think it's crazy to buy a 2015 e-Golf as a secondary car? There's one for sale near me for about 10k with 56k miles SEL premium. Is there a big difference between 2015 and 2019 other than the larger battery?

2026 Premium Solterra Efficiency

I have been averaging 4.5 miles /kwh for my usual city commute. Today, I took the car on its first 33 mile trip on the highway and the Solterra didn't disappoint. The average was 4.3 miles per /kwh @ 65-70mph. I am really impressed by these numbers so far. I took the back roads home and the average was a whooping 5.6 miles/kwh on the return trip. Most importantly, the ride on the highway was super smooth. Full car and temperature was in the 60s with rain.

Put a Price on this MK7 Sportwagen

2015 Sportwagen SEL 1.8 TSI with Fender Audio and Bi-Xenon Adaptive lighting. New Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ 18" tires, new rear springs and a year old AGM battery. Up to date on all maintenance. The best I am getting from dealers is $4900. I feel it's very low for 106k miles. Interior and exterior are in good condition considering being a city car.

First Day with Solterra Premium

My first day with this car and couldn't be any happier with the choice. Great price and great car. Spent the evening driving suburban winding roads around Boston and didn't expect the level of athleticism of this vehicle considering the height. It's truly underrated vehicle. Hopefully no issues in the future. I have averaged 5.4 miles per kwh in the 20 mile trip which is insane I believe. I don't know much about EVa but this seems incredibly high. Toyo Open Country tires feel great too.

Valvoline Restore &Protect and Oil consumption

I measured the oil consumption today after 500 miles and I am happy to report a drastic improvement compared to the crap German oils and Castrol. No additions needed.I had to add a quart every 350 miles while using the German crap. I feel all these Euro shops online are taking advantage of the cult like following. Before you spend thousands on walnut blast and other replacements recommended by these shops, use Valvoline and save yourself money and time.

Hello, do you know if this unit could handle the elements? Any recommendations on best way to protect it? This is the hardwired version that will be installed on the side of house by the parking spot.

I paid $2020 for extended warranty on Solterra. Terms are 8 years/80k/ $100 deductible. I am not asking if it's a waste, I am checking if it's a fair price.

I was told the 18 month and 36 month visits cost $250. The other visits cost $150. This was during attempt to sell the maintenance plan. Is that correct?

Edit: This is in Boston

Had all sorts of trouble last year with my Sportwagen. I changed PCV and I was about to change hpfp. After few weeks of switching to a product that is not even up to VW spec, the car is back to normal. I bought Valvoline Restore &Protect and a Mann filter and went to a 10minute oil change shop in a desperate move and all the car issues miraculously resolved. I truly think VW spec oils are just trash and LiquiMoly additives are just engine pollutants.

Hello, the outdoor passenger door handle has been non cooperative for a week. It doesn't extend even if the door is unlocked. Have you experienced this, do you know how to fix? I took it apart but couldn't figure it out.

I have read that insuring EVs is more expensive but I am getting very normal quotes. One company must have a glitch in the system because I am getting a really cheap rate. Does this make sense to you?
