Tips for getting the best experience with Tamaweb
If you haven’t heard of Tamaweb, it’s a fanmade tamagotchi game that is playable on basically any device with a web browser. It contains a mixture of features from a wide range of Tama devices and give you the best of all them with new updates coming out almost monthly. It has a ton of Tamas to raise and even has a Tamaverse type feature similar to the Uni to meet new users online. I have played it on my iPhone, iPad, and now my new RG Rotate handheld.
Here are some tips for those that are new that will help get the best experience!
- If you’re on iPhone, before you start playing, launch the game in safari and then press the share button, view more, then press “add to Home Screen.” This will create a PWA “app” on your Home Screen that can be accessed easily, even fully offline (currently the icons don’t load properly on iOS when offline, the dev is aware of this issue and is fixing it however, the game is still fully playable.)
- This is a browser game, meaning your progress is stored as cache/cookies in your browser so if you clear it, you’ll lose your progress. The dev also recommends using browsers that don’t use a lot of memory, particularly without a lot of AI features, to prevent data loss. For me, safari is perfect and I haven’t had any issues yet.
- To prevent any sort of unforeseen loss of progress, use the export save feature. In the game, go to settings, save management, then export. On iOS it will give you a share sheet to place this save file anywhere you want. For me, I place it in my iCloud downloads so they are always backed up and safe. On Android, it will simply download the file and automatically place it in your downloads and then you can do as you wish with it. I recommend exporting your progress at least once a week or so and then transferring those saves to a cloud folder since it’s super quick and easy to do and is very worth it in case your browser does weird stuff and deletes the progress (this has never happened to me yet) or your phone breaks. This feature is amazing considering no other Tama device can do this so if you lose it or break it, it’s all over for that one.
For those wanting to use a device like the RG Rotate, I have some tips for that too.
- Use google chrome as your default browser as most other browsers I’ve tried keep the URL bar visible at the top of the screen when the game is open but chrome doesn’t do this and gives you a proper full view. If your game doesn’t load, your chrome version might be outdated so try updating it or use chromium for android, that worked great for me too.
- Getting a full screen view without the status bar is tricky. If your device uses Android 11 or below, you can use a lot of immersive mode control apps or ADB commands but Android 12 and higher removed that. I tried an app called fullscreen immersive that does work however, it has ads and costs money for the full version and it doesn’t seem to stay running so you might have to restart it to get your full screen back.
This isn’t required on some devices like Samsungs as they have a fullscreen app setting that lets you hide the status bar as far as I’m aware.
- This next step is what solved
this issue
- for me in the most effective way.
- Installing GammaOS on your device (if supported) is the best way to get immersive mode forced without any issues. This comes with its own set up though and the RG Rotate build of gammaOS is under their patreon currently which is $10. This may or may not be worth it for you but it was for me personally. The installation is fairly straight forward but you need a windows pc. All the steps are listed on the gammaos github page. After all that, I can get a flawless immersive mode with a full square screen view on my RG rotate and it looks great. The battery life is also better on gammaos so that’s something else to consider.
By the way, if anyone knows of a better way of getting immersive mode or hiding the status bar on Android 12+ please tell me but in my hours of research, I couldn’t find a way of doing it, even with ADB commands on a pc.
All in all, Tamaweb is still great even on your phone so if you want to try it, I hope these tips make it a better experience and if you love the game, give a donation to the dev for their work (I’m not associated with them at all, just a loving fan.)
