Do you check how many players actually unlock the achievements you add?

Do you check how many players actually unlock the achievements you add?

I was looking through the global achievement stats for Hold Your King today, and it made me curious how other developers approach achievements. Do you add them mostly for completionists, to guide player behavior, or simply because they’re fun?

Seeing players fill the lobbies of our newly released game feels unreal

We recently released Hold Your King, and seeing the “Find Game” screen filled with active lobbies is honestly one of the most rewarding parts of development. As a small indie team, watching real players jump into the game, create lobbies, and carry the King together makes all the long development days feel worth it. It’s a small moment, but for us, it means a lot.

We made our co-op game’s lobby fun before the actual chaos even starts

I’m one of the developers of Hold Your King, a physics-based co-op game about carrying an angry King through medieval chaos.

One thing we wanted from the start was for players to have fun even before the actual run begins. So in the lobby, we added a silly interactive animation where the King can be left hanging upside down by one foot over a boiling cauldron.

It doesn’t help him, obviously. But it does help set the mood. 😄

We like the idea that even the waiting room can create funny moments with friends before the real carrying chaos starts. Hope you enjoy this little detail.

We made a co-op game that asks one simple question: are you still friends?

Hey everyone,

I’m one of the developers of Hold Your King, a physics-based co-op game where carrying the King together can quickly turn into a friendship test.

The idea is simple: move together, keep the stretcher balanced, time your jumps, and try not to blame your friend when everything goes wrong. 😄

We wanted to create the kind of co-op chaos where a small mistake can turn into a funny moment, but good teamwork still feels rewarding.

If you enjoy co-op games built around communication, timing, and “how did we even save that?” moments, you might enjoy this one.

In our co-op game, the King gets angrier when you mess up

In Hold Your King, 2 or 4 players carry an angry King through medieval traps. We’re building a reaction system where bad balance, hard impacts, drops, and unstable movement can increase the King’s aggression.

If the team moves well, things stay under control. If not, the King may make the run even harder. We want the chaos to feel funny, but still connected to how the players perform together.

We’re making a co-op game about carrying a very angry King together

Hey everyone, we’re a small indie team working on Hold Your King. It’s a physics-based co-op game where 2 or 4 players carry an angry King on a stretcher through medieval traps.

The fun starts when you try to move together. You need to jump at the same time, keep the stretcher balanced, warn your teammates, and keep the King alive while everything around you goes wrong.

We wanted to create a kind of co-op chaos that feels fun to play with friends, while also creating funny and unexpected moments for streamers and their viewers.
