i have a fake (plastic) leather bag with a broken zipper—the teeth just sort of randomly unzip themselves regardless of where the zipper part is. i like this bag a lot and it was from a limited loungefly run, so i don't really wanna mess around with it myself and risk screwing it up. does anyone have any recommendations for a spot? i know there's the zipper hospital in brookline but it's too far a journey via transit, unfortunately.

bonus points for closeness to central square but it's not world ending if it's farther out.

so i'm largely just interested in doing this on a hobby level—it's fun for me, and i love getting to do voices in people's fan projects, for example! but i can't invest a ton in setup and don't really have the space for a full booth. as such, i've been throwing a blanket over my head and shoulders and mic and going from there.

the blanket in question right now is just a thick one off my bed, and it works well enough, but i should probably get a better quality one actually designed for recording at some point. there are a lot of blanket recs, of course, but they assume a full setup. i'm not terribly concerned about keeping noise out, either, for what it's worth; my neighborhood is quiet enough.

hey there! i use notion for a whole lot of things, and love its database system, but its sharing features have always been pretty lackluster on the free plan. i've been thinking about self-hosting an instance of obsidian so that my co-editors and i can all access it in our browsers (and web browser access is a hard need for me), but i'm still not sure it's the best choice for me.

the big thing with notion for me is the databases, including having relations between database, filtering options, list/table/gallery view options, and multiple views of the same database in different places. i feel like i've heard mixed things on obsidian's capacity to create these things, or a lot of people point askers towards claude, whereas i am completely opposed to generative AI.

so what plugins should i be looking for? can i get what i want out of obsidian?

i've had a lease with my landlady and 3 roommates for what will be six years in september. in january, the three roommates decided to move out, and the landlady agreed to let me find people to take over their bedrooms and join me on a new lease. in may, she was given the information for the new roommates and ran credit checks, income verification, and so on. on friday, the broker finally got the lease to us with a docusign ready to go and instructions on what payment she wanted. i pointed out an illegal clause on saturday and asked for it to be removed, and she said she would get back to me on monday after checking on it. instead, today (on sunday), she said she would not be signing the lease because she was thinking of selling the apartment. her other tenants in the other half of the multi family home had their lease renewed at the beginning of june. she refused to provide any other explanation as to why she was not signing the new lease.

this is blatantly retaliatory, imo, and MA law says that illegal retaliation can include but is not limited to terminating or refusing to renew a lease. what do i do now? i filed a report with the AG consumer protection board online, but what kind of lawyer do i contact to see if there's anything else here? how do i find one? does anyone have any experience with this sort of situation? i don't expect to be able to force her to sign the lease, but i'd like to see what options we do have now, even if it's just, like, reclaiming moving fees.

i've been struggling to find tutorials for finishing dice that assume i barely even know what to do with sandpaper, which is true of me in general lmao. i've casted plenty of dice, but they mostly just sit around kind of raw and unsanded and unpolished. which is a bummer!

what grit(s) should i be working with? what motion should i be doing with the sandpaper? how do i use water effectively? i hear people use tools like rock tumblers and pottery wheels; what stages of the process do those help with/help replace?

i have a database full of characters; let's say i have Alice and Bob. i have a relation property that relates the database to itself, so that i can note that Alice and Bob are siblings.

i add Bob to Alice's Siblings property. Alice, though, doesn't automatically populate into Bob's Siblings property.

the ai chatbot (ughhhh) told me that this wasn't a feature but i swear i used to be able to make it work this way. am i crazy? did i bearnstein bears myself? did this feature get removed? am i missing something???
