Received my Birkin 40 from Jim yesterday and I'm really happy with it. The leather feels great, the size is exactly what I wanted, and everything matched the PSPs. Overall, a smooth experience from start to finish. Definitely won't be my last order.

Learning that my motor skills are fighting against me has been a blessing. I accomplished this with the use of a protractor and a ruler. My messy motor skills work well for hair. This is real improvement and what I expected in 3 months. I am actually learning unlike I thought. Very well. I shall only return when I am complete.

I have a character who is part of the main cast and I know that she's my weakest character. Is the best way to fix her to sit down and rewrite her character sheet? I think the hardest part for me now is that I'm a couple drafts in and restructuring the story around her new character seems extremely difficult. What is the best way to rectify this?

I hate how simple perspective is qnd how much easier cartoon style is. I dont want to do those things i want to do anime but im not sure if I'm capable. Whatever. I dont feel as angry today probablu cause im tired. I feel like i jusy wasted several hours and only learned that perspective is just a trick of the brain.
In writing the difference between a "character" and a "person" really comes down to how much range we see from them. One note villains like Angelo from Jojo, Sauron, Dolores Umbridge who only have one kind of trait that defines are classic examples of characters. It's difficult to imagine them as real people because they only or atleast we only see base level personality traits we don't see the emotional range that makes me people human. In V3 fitting with how everyone is fictional personas created by Team Danganronpa they don't feel right except for those who manage to go beyond their tropes and break free (The survivors)

Shuichi - The jaded detective lacking belief in themselves after having bad experiences similar to Eddie Valiant from Who framed roger rabbit and many others.

Kaede- The musical protégé who is super upbeat and optimistic and wants to make the world smile.

Rantaro - The mysterious, kindhearted character who is more important than they seem

Miu- I mean do I even need to say? The super horny character whose masking their insecurities with false confidence.

Maki- the weak looking girl who turns out to be a super dangerous assassin lacking the ability to connect with others.
​
Kaito - The kind hearted but stupid friend who pushes the protagonist to grow.

Some rapid fire ones for simpler characters
Kokichi - the over the top villain persona
Gonta - Gentle giant, Kirumi - the level headed and loyal maid, korekiyo - the insane and creepy serial killer, keebo - fucking astro boy and megaman bro lmao, ryoma - the former criminal who has given up on life and leads a solitary existence, tenko - naive martial arts girl who believes something stupid her master told her. Himiko - awkward magician who is stubborn about revealing her secrets. Angie - crazy religious fanatic who organizes a cult.

Tsumugi becomes the most real because as far as we know she kind of is as a staff member. She's manipulative, insane, dedicated to her craft but we also see emotional conflict within her through small moments like her mourning gonta's death and the end sequence where she lies about being happy and confident about her choices but is actually sad at how things ended.

This doesn't make the characters bad it actually makes you appreciate them a lot more especially the survivors who while having somewhat obvious character arcs still break the mold and become more than just what their characters were meant to be.

I'm writing a visual novel and for one of the character's routes she goes crazy and tries to place everyone else under their mind control. Meanwhile, I have two characters who go off on their own and get killed separately for getting too close to discovering some secrets.

I think I either want everyone to have dinner together and my character will reveal her intentions and try to control someone leading to the rest of the group panicking.

Or ill have her reveal the mind control then the day will end with everyone else camping out together in one room and then the 2 go off on their own and chaos ensues.

What i have currently is that one of the 2 characters goes off on her own after announcing shes made a discovery then the day ends. At breakfast the next morning they note her absence as my character then reveals her evil intentions and chaos ensues.

Suffice to say when you have multiple ways for events to occur and reach the same end goal how do you decide which one is best do you just sit on it for a bit? Do you try to write (or just straight up write) all three scenarios and pick your favorite one? Would love to hear your thoughts
I've been working really hard on a visual novel for just under a year. After 3 years of hobby writing I finally managed to get my ADHD ass brain to focus on one project instead of constantly jumping between a half dozen half finished writing pieces. I taught myself how to code ren'py as well and have been trying to work in jams and meet people for a year and thats all been a failure.
Visual Novels are my passion I adore the medium and I love writing and I want to get this thing out one day even if only 5 people ever play it. And here I am nearly about to get scammed for thr 4th time. Twice by ai "artists" pretending to be real and now it's the second time a seemingly real artist has used the playbook of showing me an early sketch and going "Oh im getting evicted i need to release the funds to me now". I'm doing this through vgen which is supposed to be a safe curated spot for real artists.

In the jams the artists I tried to work with were uncommunicative, flakey, and some were just outright bad. So, I decided fuck it clearly I'm not taking on enough responsibility as the writer and coder and only person on the project. I'll learn to draw well ive learned basically nothing after 3 months of trying going through a dozen YouTube tutorials, crashing out on the learntodraw sub, and trying to focus just on learning faces with atleast 2 hours of drawing everyday. Im half way through drawing on the right side of the brain and thay has felt like a useless read and Araki's book was more helpful for writing than drawing. And when you try to ask for help it's all "You're not trying hard enough."

Or or I've been at it for 10 years and im still learning. NEWSFLASH THAT'S EVERY PROFESSION ON THE PLANET! Even janitors are still learning new ways to clean after 10 years. I've never tried a learn a skill that apparently has so many clearly defined rules that you cant find anywhere it's all "learn the fundamentals, learn the entire subject of anatomy, make sure not to trace! No actually you should trace! Make sure to practice 8 hours a day! Oh no you shouldnt do 8 hours of practice do 2 hours of very focused practice."

It's bullshit. Im miserable, I'm angry at this point learning to draw is this twisted form of mental torture I do to make myself feel angry and get emotionally drunk and you're probably thinking "You should take a break from your project." But the only time i feel a tiny, fragmentation piece of happiness anymore is when I managed to turn my brain off amd completely focus on writing that feeling of losing the entire world around you and being fully immersed in the roles of your characters and each one of them has a piece of me. Things I hate, things I love. This isnt just some story to be told for the hell of it this is fucking me! Me on a piece of paper and im already gonna have to fork up thousands of dollars to get it out I shouldnt have to worry about so called "artists" scamming me.

Oh and the artists here are probably mad cause theyre very entitled and defensive, I don't care you constantly tell me how many nice people there are in the art community well I sure havent met them just flakey, unambitious, self conceded, and condescending jerks who dont care about me or my project. Not once in my life had I ever thought about Mikan X Teruteru but seeing it in the tier maker has made me a believer lmao.
