Escalation clause used and seller did not provide competing offer? HELP!

I found a home and brought it to a realtor - house had been sitting on the market with multiple, major price reductions. I offered $775k on a house that was sitting at $799k. The day I made the offer, the seller's agent said that they 'just' got an offer because of an open house that was held and that I need to come back with my final best offer. My agent said that I should use an escalation clause - I had already waived inspection but she said i could waive mortgage contingency. I said NO as I am a first-time buyer. I escalated up to $818k - we were told the other offer was cash, but they seller's agent did not say what the other offer was and my agent did not ask what the other offer was. The seller then said he wanted $813k for the house and for me to pay, $5k to my agent, so coincidentally $818k :), the top end of my escalation clause. My agent said that he was negotiating dirty and never bothered to give me feedback on what to do - I gave her play by play and got it back down to $805k and made her eat the commission. However, several days from closing, I am realizing she never bothered to verify the other offer, and with me having done ALL the work all the while learning my dad had a terminal illness and not having all my facilities to realize she didn't get the other offer at the beginning, I am wondering if any of this has any recourse. I asked her to get the offer from other agent, and she says she is trying but no actual other offer. I close in 3 days - she is saying that he decided to not use the escalation, but he did because he saw my $818 number.

Moving in with my boyfriend of 6 years and shi**ing bricks...

I've been in a relationship separated by a 45 minute drive for 6 years - we've in many ways built a life together and he is a very kind man, we see the world similarly. There are areas where we do not overlap as well, but he is a good man. I love him and want to be with him, but moving in after discussing things, the actual doing it is freaking me out. I wake up in a panic thinking about not having all of the space I had before, worrying about finances, us bickering over him not wanting to clean and keep things organized and neat. Is this normal or are these my attachment issues? The older I've gotten, the more avoidant I've become - I want closeness, but living apart gave me a safety of some sorts that is terrifying to lose. We can't have this life together without being together - the commuting is too much. I am taking the plunge to see what happens, but I have it in my head people are thrilled to move in - but I am a damaged person whose done millions of years of therapy and these deep fears won't budge. Anyone have any feedback or similar experience? He has his own issues and we talk about it but it can't help but hurt us both to know we are scared, me so being even unsure if this is my best matched partner because I can never seem to trust any decision I make in relationships.

Any DINKs about 40 in Philly?

We are an interracial couple. Educated. Enjoy tennis. Good meals. Travel. Enjoy each other’s company but also the company of other couples doing fun things.
Anyone out there?

What is up with clients who come to session sick?

Is there a personality type that comes to session when they have a cold? Second client this month who came on over to their in-person session while sick with whatever summer cold is going around. I let them both know at the end if they think they are going to be sick again to switch to virtual. It's funny because these are two of my most considerate and thankful clients, so I cannot figure it out. SIGH!!!

Seeking estate/probate attorneys

Seeking some help for myself with an aging parent who is not able to face his estate planning including health care directives. Anyone have a good and honest experience with anyone locally?

Edit: Someone who is especially familiar with an aging parent who is petrified of mortality and challenging to deal with.

Can I auto charge after client puts in their info?

I'm used to using Ivy Pay where the client puts in their information once, and then here on out and they give me permission to charge and from there on out, I can click charge and there is not another request, the credit card is just charged. Does it work the same way with Stripe?

What is your go-to response for people who ask if your condition is based in stress or affected by your mood (subtly imply it's mental health related)?

I'm a psychologist and it kills me when people ask me this, who are also therapists. One of these therapists just lost her husband to ALS - it takes everything in me to not ask her if her husband's ALS was caused by some mental health disorder. How does everyone respond to others who think a migraine is just a really bad headache that comes and goes?

Just told I owe $56k within 30 days as my 3 year work trial period ended....

I started the trial work period and by the second year I started to make more than the threshold. I just received a notice that I now owe for all 3 years within 30 days. I did expect to have to pay something back (though I had hoped they would just stop the damn payments instead of making me keep this money in an account), but I do not have access to all $56k at this exact time. Is there any leniency on 30 days or am I screwed?

Happy Marriages - how do you do conflict well to keep such a great relationship?

HI Everyone! I am someone who aspires to be in a happy marriage and hope to learn from others who share such beautiful stories on this sub. I wanted to ask how you approach or manage conflict with your significant other.

Are you just on the same page on the way you talk through conflict? Does conflict not come up often? For me, I worry that despite significant self-work and working on how I do conflict, I have not found a male partner whom I can do conflict in a way that we work through things. Stuff just gets covered up and is not good for the relationship.

Love to hear how happy couples do conflict!
