Diamond elo lobbies

Diamond elo lobbies

Are there any other players that have played in both emerald lobbies and diamond elo lobbies?

One would assume that, the higher elo you go, the climb should get harder? Games more equal, or even if not that, the games should be harder to climb in.

Well in my personal experience, diamond elo games seem to be vastly easier compared to emerald lobbies. Why?

  1. In my opinion Emerald, while being a single bracket, has a very high majority of players that do not belong in it. I'm sure many emerald elo players think that many players in either team can end up being vastly outclassed, while both being emerald. i.e one support poking and playing the lane or perhaps even moving for jungler, while the other might be mostly afk and not contributing value, and pulling the adc behind
  2. In contrast, I feel like the player skill doesn't actually increase that much more (though there might be some slight increase in capability to a certain extent and definitely not for all players in the elo). But, diamond feels like the most (not all) but way less chance of getting someone that is absolutely worse and doesn't necessarily belong there.

What do I mean? An emerald game might have on your team someone that might have gameplay much more similar to gold elo, but might have climbed into emerald. And these players aren't rare. So there can be in a lobby of 10, 4-5 players that are absolutely outclassed. High amounts of players in the lobby end up making it very volatile, even though they are mostly all emeralds currently in the lobby, the game feels much more like a normal game (lobby isn't balanced in player quality)

In emerald getting 2-3 extremely bad players, would be way harder to carry.

But in diamond, having way less chances of getting the terrible players, you usually end up having "more of an edge" as a better player and potentially a smoother climb, more carry potential (as most of your teammates are better)

In short, carrying in emerald feels harder overall in a long amount of game quantity, as you are very likely to get multiple terrible players. One might argue, well then how can't you climb if the lobbies have bad players? The exact problem is if you "roll" the more quantity of bad players in your team, which you are likely in emerald, as there are many truly bad players, it gets harder to carry. Afterall enemy team, if truly deserving of emerald and playing properly, they aren't actually bad. They can cs properly to a very good extent, they can itemize and just follow u.gg sugested builds and so on.

It doesn't mean you won't climb, but what I am trying to explain is, emerald elo feels extremely flippy, and diamond elo, unintuively so, feels easier to carry, as you are way less likely to roll "multiple" terrible players on your team. So you will have less games that are genuinely unwinnable or close to unwinnable.

Some recent games.

I've also known other players share the same sentiment i.e my winrate increases when I finally get into higher elo.

My experience climbing to diamond and the current state of ranked

Hello, I've made a few posts before and maybe some people remember. After having played a considerable amount of games in the current season, I feel like the ladder and ranked games are at a very very weird state.

I've finally reached d4, and honestly I have improved at the game, but honestly way beyond what the diamond player is supposed to be. It took a tremendous amount of games and there are few reasons.

  1. Too many overinflated players, I can say that at least 50% of the emerald players don't play much better than gold-plat elo players. Same for diamond players, and most likely the situation is the case for any elo bracket. The issue stems from the same causation. If you play long enough you are almost 100% bound to climb to a certain extent. Too many players climb each new season to a higher rank through having 50% wr as the placements place you with a very positive mmr that enables you to climb, it was seen the worst this last reset where people were getting +30 -10 at their previous rank or worse at even higher elos.
  2. The same players getting inflated turns the lobbies into flips, there is a certain cap of how much agency you can have as a soloq player without a duo. So the better players, most of the time, end up not being able to carry someone that is performing way too poorly.
  3. Performing poorly isn't just in relation to having a bad game or doing normal mistakes (i.e unlucky fight, enemy player just plays better than you, etc etc), but there are many times it is evident that some players are playing league as it is meant and actually knows how to pilot their champ and how it is meant to play. It is much more so in a base level there being an incredible gap in game knowledge and how they play (what fights to take, when to engage, when to be where i.e macro things and knowing which fights are good and following up on plays)

You can get an emerald-diamond-masters or whatever play that will play the game properly while some will be playing almost like they are meant to be in way lower elos, i.e a support that afk moves together with adc and has no clue where to move in the map, while another support might be playing for objectives, being on time and moving for plays in the map where they are needed. Sometimes it gets obvious some players are vastly better and most likely deserve to climb, and some players seem like they have no clue what they are doing. Both players are in the same lobby within the same elo bracket.

Most games I've played (more than 80%-90%), are one sided games, anyone that is watching can see that one team has the better players while the other team has worse players. If you are lucky your team and their team both will have these "poor players" and both teams usually just try to play for the enemies weakside/your strongside and the more fed people basically have a game while the rest have no impact, usually.

Some of my games from my history if you are curious how some games can be, and how long it can take to climb sometimes. All I can say is there is something fundamentally broken in especially emerald and lower than d1 lobbies, as the skill floor can be extremely low.

Honestly was hopeful it might improve a bit as the climb went on but it still seems to be the same.

Also there are quite a lot of accounts that are around lvl 50 that are alt accounts, it is hard to tell if they are good or bad players, but new accounts seem to easily inflate into emerald-diamond mmr even with average performance

also everyone seems to offshoot in elo, due to high volatality of the matchmaking as explained, I've seen players drop and climb back 400+ lp, worst I've seen was someone 400lp masters and dropped as low as d4 which is 800 lp going down. It is debatable if they have dropped so much due to poor matchmaking or simply being worse, but if they never deserved it in the beginning, how did they climb as high as 400 lp before?

I also mostly understand why people keep getting more toxic in ranked, with how poor the current matchmaking/elo brackets are, it is hard to not get tilted when people play poorly and you end up dropping due to that

either way I've gotten back to diamond on this account and will stop the grind for now, as I've churned out and don't see much point as the game quality isn't improving that much and most of the games are settled by extreme differences in player quality within the same lobby.

Current best build (always bastion breaker 2nd item)

https://preview.redd.it/7653tczmaljh1.png?width=702&format=png&auto=webp&s=9c1f0cec58c3cdc7e1149b4273c0f6160891058f

been playing naafiri for a while, have seen it in multiple patches and pretty confident to say that I know which items are the best

currently the best (hubris first into bastion breaker)
hubris is a strong item and it is also a free scaling item, it lets you become stronger for basically no downside, the earlier you get it, the stronger the item is

bastion breaker gives too many stats and the true damage allows you to get more kill angles/stronger 100 to 0 people

then it depends, people building armor already slowly? you serylda's grudge

you are losing potential kill angles to cc? i.e ahri charm, poppy w etc, edge of night

lots of shields? i.e karma janna mordekaiser, shieldbow users etc 2nd item serpents or 3rd item serpents (swapping bastionbreaker to 3rd if needed)

if you didn't get armor pen (serylda's) earlier, get it 4th

you can get antiheal armor pen item mortal reminder if really needed, but I'm in favor of serylda's most of the lobbies

axiom is lower priority, you can get it 3rd item if wanted, I sometimes never buy it i.e my top game from the match history, axiom isn't as strong as most people think, it seems oppressive when you are hard winning and everyone in the enemy team is extremely behind and also easy to kill

if you can't easily get 1-2 kills, your prio shifts into items that make you survive (GA) and things that makes getting kills easier

deaths dance is most of the time bait, I never build it anymore, same for the omnivamp item, higher kill potential and full lethality is better

if extremely ahead after selling boots instead of GA can get youumu's for the MS to play as if you have boots while having 6 items

usually never buy boots, 300g boots itself is enough even without the upgraded boots from runes with higher ms

I play with slightly different runes than most people

my clear is always raptors red krugs into b buying longsword, it is extremely oppressive and the best in the current patch

if you see enemy jg 99% of the time they will be no items and you will have longsword diff which will win you the fight

I 99% of the time go ignite smite instead of flash for higher kill pressure and also the reason I don't need mortal reminder 99% of the time

cosmic insight (+18 summoner spell haste) allows you to have the ignite be up basically all the time

Games magically got mostly easier

https://preview.redd.it/w46izlwebgjh1.png?width=696&format=png&auto=webp&s=f9d82f1630a103105dc9ea27c9c1d1b40c9057d8

well, tried out duoing someone, games are not a bit easier, but basically night and day

they aren't even smurfing, neither am I, but either the matchmaking was lucky or duo makes the ladder miles easier

to anyone struggling I'd just advise to try out duoq, only way to properly play the game especially in lower elos imo, at least in my matchmaking experience

Fun League Collage! (Shows very high quality matchmaking)

https://preview.redd.it/xzvrrc3ni4ih1.png?width=1795&format=png&auto=webp&s=7375087dcd1ec125ec45eb1859f0f82d8ce104cd

I wonder what you guys think of this? 1 v 9 every lobby is not that fun when you don't get to decide if the game is won or not, while in the same elo there are people with 30% wr

https://www.deeplol.gg/summoner/euw/critdog-fiend

after checking the worst players in the lobby it just started to make more sense, they are either easy to identify tilted players on terrible lose streaks/obviously inting scores in previous games or worse 30% wr players or someone that actually belongs in gold but luck winstreaked into 600+ lp i.e going from gold to emerald

every win I have in my last 20 games is me just being MVP/solo carry, same for losses

worst season since a long time, lobbies always were not fully balanced, but since this season a few months back, lobby qualities are terribly low (a lot of inflated players that turn lobbies into coinflips)

anyways, what do you think? most games are me just snowballing out of my mind because the player quality is so low in these elos and emerald isn't even supposed to be this bad, sometimes players feel like they actually deserve to be in silver-gold elo at most, just casually going 2-3x enemy junglers damage if not just making them drop out of the game at this point

forced to 1v9 or else you lose lobbies

taking every camp of nidalee

Classic experience

Initially I thought it would be fine to just play norms, but the games are genuinely unfun tier, matchmaking is too unbalanced and you usually win just from people knowing how to play older seasons.

Roaming support and perma ganking jungler team is just a happier team, if you get an afk full clear jungler you will never get ganks. Your jungler willl never be able to get out of jungle anyways with needing to clear every camp mentality because spawn rates are extremely fast.

too many supports don't get mobis or just flat out never leave their adc

there is also the issue of people buying random items without much thought

the death timers are extremely long and people get caught pretty often which leads to random nash and people ending the game from that (assuming enemy team knows nash just dies to air)

also riot gave a terrible starting rune page, so people getting to experience the game at the start with basically no (or troll) runes is pretty bad imo, I get the idea of grinding IP, but it kills the starting experience pretty bad, better to just start out with some kind of IP or have normal proper runes that would people use with 2 runes (armor mr ad/ap)

I would at least prefer if there was some proper MMR system or just another queue for more serious players/ranked

edit: random game
