I’m feeling at quite a loss right now. I, f16, finished my GCSEs exactly a month ago, and I’ve started feeling worse and worse anxiety about results day. I have never been a high achiever, never went for all 9s, and this is due to having a lot of personal issues during my whole school life that left me with a lot of stress in the long term, and also just be being an active procrastinator.
For years I have had an interest in astrophysics and cosmology, and I really want to pursue that field when I’m older. The problem: I have always been in the lowest set (set 4) in maths up until yr 11, when they added a set 5 and I remained in set 4. I don’t know why, I never moved up, but I enjoyed maths and usually got highest in my class, but knowing that I probably would never get anything above a 5 lowered my expectations on what I could get. When I got to year 11 I found out that people in set 4 have the option to take higher maths for a chance to get higher than a 5, and I took that route. I thought I was doing well, I thought I could get higher than that. I over achieved probably everything. I told myself that I would prove everyone wrong (now looking back I feel like such a joke for even THINKING this.)
I don’t know if people will even see or respond to this, but if you do I should just say: I know I did it to myself. I’ve accepted that I’ve screwed myself over by not applying myself during revision and prioritising my comfort over my education. I will not go into depths over why I do this, as it’s too long a story and I don’t want it to seem like I’m making excuses. I’m not. I know people think that “if you really wanted this career you would’ve put in more effort” and I honestly agree. I don’t know why I did this to myself. I’ve never had good self esteem. I don’t want people on here telling me I should’ve done better and that I’m just lazy and stupid for not doing better revision. I know that already.
My plan at the moment is to get a job and save enough to retake maths after I get my results (because I do not think I will fail but I don’t think I will reach the requirement which is a grade 7) and over the summer go over everything of maths to get better and better. I’m worried this won’t work. I’ve never found an actual good revision plan that felt good for me except from copying notes and slides down over and over again which is just extensive and tires me out. Should I just genuinely give up and have a go at something else? I know that this field of science is incredibly competitive and it feels like I’ve already lost. On the physics side Im fine with that. It’s just maths that sucks right now.
I just want to know if this is useless. Am I a lost cause? Is it stupid to even hope? Or do I power through despite expenses and also falling behind everyone else?

So.. I’m not sure if this is the right place but I don’t know where else. I recently got a new phone, and gave my old one to a relative. Apple ID is the same, everything’s fine except the majority of my photos are just gone. I had around like 30,000 before but now there’s only 72, and I’ve turned syncing on and off but still it’s only 72. I have really important photos on there that I would hate to lose and I don’t know how to bring them back. My old phone was an iPhone 12 Pro and now I have an iPhone 12 (iOS) Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
As the title says. I (16f) just genuinely don’t know how to tell my dad this.
He is extremely in the mindset of workout and health and stuff like that, which is good, no lie, but it’s too much sometimes. I have a bad relationship with doing workout but also my body image as workout has been used as “punishment” for me several times, some being having to wake up at 6am everyday and doing jump rope for 45 mins, or running around this small green area we have near our house for a while. So now in my head I have a different image of what workout means to me. It feels like it’s not for me, it’s for him. And it sucks as I’m in a position where I do need and want to lose weight, but his extra comments do not help whatsoever. As of writing this I’m still taking my GCSE’s, I have around 2 exams left and I’m very exhausted due to previous late nights up, juggling revision times and having to do some sort of workout. For him, he believes that workout should come before anything else, including studies (this is something he’s specifically told me). Genuinely anytime I try to talk to him the conversation just turns into workout. Almost every single time.
Right now I’m on a plan made by him where I need to do jump rope every day for 35 or so mins, this is not as punishment, he just wants me to get slimmer. If I didn’t have such a bad relationship with this I wouldn’t be complaining. I know I need to lose weight. It’s the fact that I don’t know how to tell him I’m too tired. Sometimes he will let me off, but mostly he tells me to do it anyway and that “he has things going on in his life too but he still does workout.” Which has just shut me down from ever talking to him, so I just don’t know how to tell him. I don’t know how he can’t realise. He’ll go on and on about how tired he is and this and that but when I say it it’s just “yeah… hm.” And won’t say anything else. He’s done a lot of other shit that I’m tired of but I don’t want to get into that here, but just being around him is draining. I just don’t know how to approach him without the fear of it turning into something bigger than it needs to be, and he’ll think I’m just “lazy” and not wanting to do anything. This whole jump rope plan has affected me and my revision as in my head I’m prioritising and worrying about when I need to do workout for him. This is sort of a rant, but I need some advice on if I should just suck it up and deal with it or risk having to talk to him. Sorry if this is just a weird post but I gotta just get this out. Thanks for reading
in south west uk, found these two in the woods a part of a big cluster of the same on a tree. Left is the top of the mushroom, right is what the under looks like. Tried to look it up and it said it could be chicken of the woods or yellow oyster, but I don’t really know lol
So… this has been in my head for almost 8 months. Constantly deciding whether I’m over it or I’m not, and if I’m thinking too deeply about it. (This could get long. There’s a TLDR at the end.)
Me (16F) and my close friend (also 16F) actually became friends at the start of the school year, as I sat next to her in my maths class and started up a quick friendship. We had similar interests in music and other things, and overall she’s a great friend. This is why I call her a close friend.
Over the course of our friendship, I had gotten a weird feeling that she felt things for me, or was giving me hints. She’s a very touchy person in general (which I have had issues about but it’s whatever) but I’ll just list the hints I’ve gotten: watching a school Romeo and Juliet play she held my hand the entire time. This is when I first got that initial feeling. She would always touch my hands and my face which at the time I didn’t have a problem with. She’d call me cute etc etc. so, to the point at hand: she came over to my house last October and the tensions were so high. I definitely by this point had some sort of feeling for her, and I kid you not we literally just cuddled almost the whole time she was here, which then evolved into us talking about making out, which we then did. This was my first kiss, which was important to me.
We made out for maybe 15 minutes, and after that she had to go home. This all happened on a Sunday, so I was excited to see her at school on Monday. We didn’t talk about it at all. Which I thought was fine, maybe she just wants to keep personal life out of school. She invited me to her house on the Wednesday of that week, which I happily agreed to (for obvious reasons). On Tuesday, we didn’t talk about it again, and when Wednesday finally hit, I was hoping we could talk things through at her house and see where this would go. Absolutely nothing. I was a little upset, as I sort of felt a little used. She could tell I was upset and I told her yeah and that I just need to talk. We went up to her room and sat on her bed. I asked her what the kiss actually meant. She said she didn’t know, and honestly that really crushed me. She said her mum didn’t really allow her to date anyone, which I did understand, but why kiss me then? She said we could talk the next day (which we never did), and that she’s sorry but she hoped I could understand. It was time for me to go, so I acted normal and we said goodbye, and I walked home. I wasn’t happy, but fast forward a couple weeks, I still had feelings for her.
This honestly really affected my mental health. The image of that time just kept replaying in my head. A couple months after everything happened, it was getting to me so bad that I burst out crying in the middle of maths intervention, which she saw and asked if I was okay. Long story short, I talked to her after maths and she said she still didn’t know. She then changed the topic so I felt so awkward to try and bring it up again. I dropped her off at her house, and I once again, burst out crying on the way home. (Yes, I’m a huge crier). I felt so led on, especially how she saw me get so upset and she could tell my attitude had changed over the course of that month. It’s been ages now, but I still think about it. We’re still friends, and she doesn’t know about my conflicting feelings. She talks to me about guys she’s looking into, which only makes me have a little more resentment towards the whole thing. I’m not the kind of person to just kiss anyone and call it a day like some other teenagers my age, and I want it to actually mean something. Especially my first kiss. Perhaps I’m just young and overthinking everything, but I just hate the way she broke my trust with that.
I’m not sure if I should even say anything now, or just let it be. Any advice is appreciated. Sorry this is so long, I just need to finish this.
TLDR: my friend made out with me, causing me to develop feelings, but never brings it up again and makes me feel led on.
Edit: thank you guys for the feedback! I wasn’t expecting anyone to answer so quickly but I’ve had some great responses!! I’m gonna think on it tonight, but I might try to just talk to her. Not about how I think she’s in the wrong, because I know she’s not, just that I wish we could’ve talked about it more and how it affected me, and that I understand that she might’ve just been confused on her feelings. If I do end up doing that, I’ll try and update. Thanks again!!
Edit 2: I really should have clarified that I don’t have feelings anymore! I was honestly really upset at her because I felt so hurt, and the point of this post is that I’m wondering if I’m in the wrong or if I’m overthinking that we should have talked more about it, as the fact we didn’t really made me feel unheard and just used. That’s on me for not clarifying that. Sorry!
