RLM, I need Lightning Fast VCR repair in the ATX area. Specifically a Betamax player from 1980. Does anyone know anyone in town who does actual repairs?

I post this here because of how funny I find it that I once enjoyed the shtick of Lightning Fast VCR repair to be funny, I’ve gone down a tape rabbit hole and now ACTUALLY need repairs and help with this sort of thing.

NO WORRIES IF THIS GETS TAKEN DOWN! I realize reddit subs can be hyper specific about kinds of posts and stuff, but I actually post here because of how open and communal this particular sub has always been with “tangentially related” RLM posts.

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope!

1989 Austin TV VHS home recording - KVUE 24 “Caring for Community” promo featuring upcoming Zilker Park Children’s Playscape

I am in Austin and archive locally sourced home recorded VHS. This one was found at a thrift store yesterday and had programming from 1989 and into 1990.

This is one commercial break, but there are a good dozen or so more if this kind of thing interest you!

This particular Zilker Park ad seemed worth posting about here!

1989 HEB “Photo Place” commercial (just discovered on old home recorded VHS by me)

This is probably the loosest interpretation of the flair “photo/Find” but here it is!

I archive old home recorded VHS on YouTube. I’m in the Austin area so I come across old HEB commercials sometimes, which I then post here for community enjoyment. Enjoy!

Uploaded another 1989 Star Trek TNG promo from FOX Austin KBVO channel

This is one of the earlier dated tapes I’ve found since starting archiving. I’ll post more from this tape I think this community would enjoy as I find them. (This one is chock full 6 hours full)

UN-Armed & Dangerous - An instructional video that gives me big time Wheel of the Worst energy

"Volume I: Knives, Guns, & Impact Weapons"

I just uploaded this to our archival youtube channel, and as always, I share the ones that I think this community would enjoy!

This totally felt like a title that would end up on the wheel! And the main guy is something of a character. And you'd probably die if you tried to employ any of this "self defense"

I visited “Scarecrow Video” in greater Seattle a few days ago. What a Mecca video rental store!

Is there a single in person Defensive Driving course for getting a ticket dismessed in Austin?

I need to take a defensive driving course, and would prefer to just go somewhere and take an in person course (I sit in front of a computer all day so an online course sounds like torture to me.)

Every place I have looked at so far seems to no longer have in person classes? Does anyone recommend one that still does?

CBS FOX had great package design. Anyone know any back story as to their packaging art direction in those days?

VHS screener copy trailer for “My Cousin Vinny” & pretty entertaining trailer montage of other movies. Posting here because I consider My Cousin Vinny to be a super tight script in the same way the boys describe the Back To The Future script. Would love to hear them break this one Down.

Otherwise, this community seems like it would enjoy this trailer. It has a lot of promotional info for retailers, and costs $89.95 or something like that per copy. A neat VHS relic piece of media.

After that, it’s several minutes of other trailers, and some of these titles go funny against the sweet song playing (Predator in particular)

1992 local Katz’s “Katz’s Never Kloses” commercial.

I just discovered this on a home video VHS local to Austin. I can’t wait for the new Katz’s to open. Gonna crush a Reuben into a personal food coma.

2001 - Women’s Athletics Longhorn Hall of Honors celebration

A bit of historical throwback that I recently came across at a local Austin thrift store.

Uploaded to YouTube for others to enjoy. Was anyone there around this time, or in this video?

I wanted to share my now 14 year old "Naked" SL9 Barbarian run "Escaped Miner #6"

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF6D54F670DE07BA6

The idea for this run was an even further limitation to a Soul Level 1 run. This chooses the default character with the weakest armor and weapon, and not upgrading any gear at all.

This was before the days of onebros and soul level challenge runs being such a big thing. Hope you enjoy!

What’s your favorite?

Watched Part 2 tonight, and that might just be my favorite of the whole series. The shed. The Head. Both incredibly memorable scenes.

Spaceballs trailer, specifically edited for the VHS “Walk Like a Man” movie.

Seems rare to see a trailer that is catered specifically to the movie it comes on before.

Old 1992 ad for upcoming “all-new” Star Trek episode (I posted one of these a few months back here and this group seemed to like it, it sort of went viral. Here’s a new one I found today. Voice narration is so intense)

Here’s some further research for Mike and Rich’s next TNG video. These original bumpers are hard to find. Unless you have a tape where someone recorded it live.
