The holes in the chest were because of Devil Dino godzilla beam
Just give him d.va's matrix...
Personally I really want him and Magik sharing one
This will be a long essay about Cyclops because he is my second favorite character in Marvel and I got too hyped by his upcoming release.
Vanguard fits him best, lorewise and mechanically due to him being the frontline field leader of the X-Men and taking decisions that moves the team forward (creating space). But of course you could ask "but what's defensive about him? He is just a normal dude! How could Cyclops tank?" And well, a deflect ability with his optic beams, similar to D.Va from Overwatch, not to mention shields/bubbles with his optic blasts (something hinted by the game's lore, considering he is blasting a Chronovium and generating a shield around Alchemax HQ) are very good approaches to the character, like many people on Reddit already pointed with their concepts. I also must add that Cyclops has the same durability as Stephen Strange + he fought Captain America directly many times. He is not a glass cannon type of character due to his concussive optic blasts and martial arts training.
He is also a great hand to hand fighter (although not everyone believes that), but even if that aspect is portrayed as a weakness in-game, that's no problem at all: Magneto is also not good against melee characters going after him. Vanguards ≠ melee characters beating each other.
In terms of Marvel Rivals issues, Vanguard is the role that need poke and popular characters the most to end the solotanking issue, and Cyclops fits this two requirements very well. The community also support Tankclops a lot, which is surprising.
Duelist could fit him if they somehow turned him into a tanky DPS like Mr. F. (even though he seems lost as a character in terms of balance) and not a fully backline character. Again, this is very important: Cyclops is NOT a backline hero. He leads his team, rallying the X-Men behind him, even Juggernaut and Colossus.
However, the worst problem with a Dpsclops is: he would be the 27th duelist hero and we don't need more disparity between roles. The community as a whole is tired of this approach, however it seems like NetEase game design philosophy is very different. For example, in the last 2 seasons we had 3 dps, 1 vanguard and 2 strategists. I also remember they said they heard us and were changing but c'mon, it's been too long (1 year iirc) since that and they are just aggravating the issue.
But the truly WORST outcome for the character is Stratclops. Firstly because he would end up in a 3rd support jail and devs are clearly completely lost in what to do with supports, they really don't have a clue; and lastly because, again, Cyclops is not a backline character. Can you truly imagine him screaming "TO ME, MY X-MEN" while he stands behind all his X-Men teammates, next to a Rocket, optic beaming his allies...? It's total character assassination. A brawly/tanky version indeed could exist, but with White Fox being our last strategist and also being a brawly support, I doubt they would repeat the idea, and it would also suffer from the 3rd support problem if they wanted to make him faithful to the comics (dealing damage, I mean) like Ultron and Mantis do.
And yes, I know he is a strategist and a tactician in the comics, but in Rivals strategist is a just a name because in the end they are just... healers. I am also aware lot of people are fine with him being a support just because it means he won't be a duelist, but I really think that's not a good excuse. Subverting expectations for the sake of it is not a good Alchemax shield he is generating) and NetEase doesn't seem competent enough to make a double Vanguard season to solve the problems they created.
Also I really think the community backlash will be big (and deserved) if he is a duelist (or even a strategist, but on a smaller scale) because after all the "we are hearing you, we are fixing the game" talks about role disparity, Cyclops being a dps after all the buzz around would feel like a spat in the face considering all the community claim.
Anyway, these are my two cents about Cyclops. Hope he ends up as a Vanguard. Btw the image used if from a comic event called X-Men: Schism.
"Ladies and Gentlemen of the Board...
"I know you all have questions about our recent activity, and I assure you, as Vice President of Alchemax, I have the answers you're looking for. Whether or not I'm able to share them with you is another story altogether. In fact, some are so classified that even I had to sign a non-disclosure agreement! Tyler Stone, sworn to secrecy... Can you imagine?
"What I can tell you is this: Since the Mutant nation of Krakoa arrived in our timeline, Alchemax has seen fierce competition from their Hellfire Trading Company in several of our strongest sectors. Where we were once the world's most dominant commercial force, our sales were destabilized thanks to the deals being cut by Emma Frost and her "Hellfire Protocol." Just a band of corporate marauders from an outdated bunch of misfits. Nevertheless, their antics caused projected profits for fiscal year 2099 to drop nearly 300%.
"In a stroke of genius, I decided to beat Krakoa at its own game. If they could come from the past and take over the future, why couldn't we do the same in reverse? All Alchemax would need to do is harness the energy of the Timestream Entanglement to gain access to other timelines. Then, we could colonize any era we desired, just as the East India Company once colonized India. After we established a foothold in each of these new territories across time, we would be able to introduce our revolutionary technologies. The people of those eras would hail us as saviors, unaware that we were stripping them of their resources.
"Our own scientists were unable to unlock the power necessary to deliver us across the threshold of time itself, so I brought in some... outside assistance... from two time-lost heroes. The first was a young girl by the name of Lunella Lafayette. Despite her age, she was lauded as one of the most brilliant minds of her era. Yet even with the future at her fingertips, she desired nothing more than to return home. We offered her every tool she could possibly need to open the door back... so that we could follow close behind.
"The other was one of Emma Frost's own. A Mutant with access to a limitless source of power from another reality. He was the key to powering up our Chronovium samples to levels that would make our goals attainable. And little did Moon Girl realize that the entire time she was searching for a scientific solution to travel back through time, she was experimenting on one of her fellow heroes.
"Though Ms. Lafayette achieved her goal and returned to her native timeline, she felt her experiment had less-than-satisfactory side effects. In truth, however, the time displacement of Alchemax HQ was part of our plan from the start. And while we all watch the events unfold from here in the safety of our own timeline, we can confidently move forward with the next stage of our expansion plan.
"As far as I'm concerned, the future of Alchemax... is the past!"
Curious to see what it says next, but very interesting that the Chronovium is indeed related to his powers somehow.
So, this was stated during the dev vision video and during a Twitter post of the game. It indicates that Cyclops had chronovium (some sort of fictional stuff in their universe that works for everything and even have Rogue her powers) merged into his eyes after being locked up by Alchemax or they are forcing him to beam this artifact to creat a force field. In any possibility that's a new iteration of the character that I don't remember happening before.
What do you guys think about this potential new power? I have always believed new skills are interesting and fill well the "mutation" part that fits every, well, mutant.
So, first things first: his role. Trailers are not good ways to identify anyone's role in this game, dont be fooled by it. Some will say "he's so agile, def a dps" and no, Angela was also very agile, this is just an animation to create hype; other will say "he protected Lunella he is def a tank" and no, that doesn't mean he is a tank at all. My opinion is: he will be a duelislop, even though he's a clear frontline leader in the comics, because NetEase is clearly lost at their game design choices (Dino being another brawl tank is another example).
Now, talking about the important stuff: his potential skills. While trailers are bad for identifying a role, they are a very good indicative of a hero's ability sets, even though they sometimes exaggerate (like DD removing crowd control and Angela throwing swords from the sky) and not everything could be translated to his gameplay. But here we go:
- Giant fucking beam: This one seems more like a hype moment, but he does light a big beam into a building. My first take was him deflecting shots and then redirecting them to another place, but i think its a stretch.
- Pinball: his first real ability shown is a ricochet beam. An optic blast that hits multiple enemies nearby one by one. Similar to pinball
- Optic blast: Cyclops jumps and hits an optic blast on the ground, that is fragmented into 4 different beams, also hitting multiple enemies. He does seem to be a sort of anti-group character, like Moon Knight so far.
- Reverse Dash: This one seem directly took from the X-Men '97 show. Basically he beams into a direction and the impulse moves him backwards. Seems some sort of dash/reposition ability. This one looks pretty similar to Punisher's smoke bomb. He also breaks his visor due to the kinetic force used, but i think thats not really related to this skill but the next and last one, that seems to be his ultimate.
- GIANT FUCKING BEAM: Like many of us think, his ultimate hill probably be him removing his visor and edgyly screaming while hitting a huge beam. Curiously, in the trailer he doesnt use it for dealing damage, but to create an protection area around him and Moon Girl. I think this is just some sort of hype moment though, and he will likely just hit a stronger beam towards his enemies.
Well, that's it for his potential skills in my opinion. But what do you guys think? Something I missed from the trailer? Let's debate like civilized people in the comments!
Sadly I can't link the original post because it's from Elon Muskkk's social media.
Daniel apresenta um bom contraponto logo após. Recomendo que vejam a live inteira, pois esse momento foi omitido nos cortes.
De toda forma, triste ver essa visão elitista em uma editora brasileira.
Is there any plan or possibility of reprints of Criminal by Ed Brubaker and Sean Philips? I'm looking forward to read it in its most complete form possible, but in my country I can only find it at absurdly high prices because they are not in stock.
