I live around 20th, in what I’ve seen referred to as the art district. I walked around a few nights ago, there seemed to be a lot to do… but a little overwhelmed on where to start. I lived here in HS, 15 years ago, and just moved back about a month ago, so I’m not entirely unfamiliar with the area, but a lot has changed.

I want to have a social drink or two. I wanna explore new hobbies. I want to meet people. I wanna flirt a bit. I’d be going alone. I’m looking for a place or three where it’s not weird for me to show up alone, and people aren’t hesitant to strike up a convo with a stranger. Where do single people go out in the city?

34F for reference. I wouldn’t say I’m shy. I’m certainly approachable, but the going alone part is new to me. I’m not interested in downloading a dating app/bumble for friends which makes it a little more difficult. But hell at this point I’d take a bartender wanting a bigger tip for SOME sort of social interaction 😫

I recently accepted a position at a large company in Chesapeake. I’ve been job hunting for months. I have a huge roadblock though: I own a home north of Richmond that I’m not interested in selling because it’s near my step-children. The position is hybrid so I’d be in Chesapeake for only 2 nights a week. I had to expand my job search this far to find a position in my industry.

I’ve overwhelmed myself with looking online for rooms to rent or hotels I can possibly get an extended/ recurring stay discount at.

I’m looking for advice on areas to avoid (specifically what areas of Norfolk/Portsmouth since they are more in my price range). Im also looking for advice from anyone who may have found themselves on a similar position and how you managed?

And if anyone knows of a room to rent, I’m a mid 30s quiet friendly easy-going person and I’d only be there 2 nights a week!

I’m sure the sub gets a lot of these types of posts. Any help would be so so appreciated.

I purchased a handgun recently. The sales associate used my contact information from the state background check application to hand write me a letter inviting me to his home. Is accessing and using my PII for this purpose illegal? What departments/agencies, if any, should I contact? The store did not show much concern for their employee’s creepy actions. I’m concerned how much of my info he stole, given I provided my social, dob, birthplace, maiden name, and other info. He also lives not far from me (3 miles) and owns a gun range, so I’m afraid. I live in a one stoplight town so we presumably go to the same doctor, pharmacy, grocery store, etc. thanks for any help.
