Before I get invested...

Is LIB UK season 2 worth my time? 😂

I feel like I never question it before I start any of these and then I get to the end and feel like I've just wasted my time on a load of influencer wannabes.

So before I get consumed and let it consume my week...

What's the general consensus on Season 2? Any genuine people?

Explain like I'm 5 - what was the mutiny committed in Episode 1?

I've seen BoB so many times and been too afraid to ask -

I don't fully understand what the implications are of the non-coms saying they no longer wish to serve as non-coms and why that would be considered mutiny/an offence worthy of being shot.

As a regular civvie with absolutely no knowledge of military hierarchy, my translation of what is happening is they're asking to be demoted so that Sobel isn't who they report directly to? I think? Is that right?

If so, why would this be considered a crime worthy to he executed over and why were they not able to just go to Sink and say 'we don't fully trust Sobel to lead us into combat'? Is that not possible in the military? Sink obviously picks up on this and redeploys Sobel. But why could Easy not have collectively gone to Sink?

Apologies for the naivety - appreciate any info!

Are the booklet codes supposed to match the box code?

Hi all,

I am trying to authenticate some Swarovski annual decorations I have.

Two were bought directly from Swarovski - so I know are genuine. 3 others were bought from websites that claimed to be partners/stockists for Swarovski.

One of them I'm pretty definitely sure is fake, despite having the stamp on the metal clasp. The other two I'm sure are real, but after the fake one, I'm now not sure.

The fake one doesn't catch the light - its seems more like glass than crystal. It does have the booklet with it, but it's dated 2018. The item is supposed to be for 2021.

So I checked the other booklets, and none of them have booklets that have references inside matching the Swarovski box code. Even the authentic ones from Swarovski.

Can any Swarovski 'experts' help give me some ideas what I should be looking out for? There aren't any guides online with images or videos to show how to spot as they're quite outdated.

Thanks so much in advance for any guidance!

Wow..

Managed to bag one ticket on row F for the only imax 70mm cinema in the north of England.

Went to see it yesterday on my own -

Just.. wow. What an incredible experience! The 3 hours flew by. I was on the edge of my seat the whole movie. Just amazing!

I think the cyclops or the witch were the most intense scenes.

I'm going to watch it again in regular format on Thursday with my husband. I can't wait!

I'm at the point of wanting to give up and need to offload

Sat in the car in tears after what feels like weeks of bad experiences and I'm ready to throw in the towel.

I've been learning since March and what felt like was going great - has suddenly gone the other way and I feel like my confidence has drained away slowly.

I can have a near-perfect drive and then I do something stupid and it ruins the whole drive. I thought I was doing really well - my instructor has started independent driving on my lessons to prepare me for my test which he is aiming to put me in for before the end of the year.

But it's like as soon as we go into those mock tests, I shut down. I'll stall, I hit the curb while parking, I forget to check mirrors, forget answers to the tell me/show me.

Today, I was going up a multi storey car park and I scraped the wing mirror on a gate at the top of the ramp. My husband went mad, and my confidence has completely gone.

I constantly feel conflicted. Like I'm told to be more observant and more aware, but then I'm told I'm being too cautious and lack confidence. I can't seem to find the middle ground. One week, I'll be told I'm not committing enough to decisions. I'll take that on board - and then I'll be told off for pulling out when someone is indicating left but then changes their mind and carries on going.

I just feel so defeated and low. The way I feel now is like fight or flight - if I give up now, I'll never do it again. But I can't seem to pick myself back up after the last few weeks. I'm so upset and frustrated.

Has anyone else been through that slump where it seems to go well but then seems to suddenly go the other way?

The frustrating part is I'm not doing bad at all. I can drive for an hour and have a perfect 56 minutes but if theres 3 or 4 minutes where something goes wrong, it will affect me. And my confidence takes a hit every single time to the point now I'm nervous about driving again.

This is the hardest thing I've ever done and my husband can't seem to understand why it's knocking me so much.

If you could find out an oddly specific statistic about your own life, what would you want to know?

Something like..

How many cups of tea you've consumed?

How many times you've been in close quarters with a serial killer?

How much time you've spent having a poo?

Would you go to the bachelorette of someone who has made no effort with you at all?

My husband's brother got engaged last year to a girl he's been dating for a couple of years.

In those couple of years, his fiancée has made no effort to try to get to know me or my husband and the relationship between us is quite strained. She has been rude and dismissive, and quite blunt to the point it's impossible to have a conversation with her. She's never asked me about my life, my job, family etc. It's always been me asking questions and trying to have a conversation. We've both stopped trying and accepted she just isn't going to get on that level with us.

Yesterday I got a random text from her to ask if I wanted to be included in her bachelorette planning group. I was surprised as I wasn't expecting an invite.

I expected the group to include other female members of our family - such as my aunts in law etc. But it's just me invited. I'm unsure whether it's just out of courtesy, as we were close to his brother. But I feel awkward about going to a weekend trip with a large group of people I don't know, and the only connection being a woman I have no relationship or even chemistry with.

I'm torn. Do I put myself out there like I usually do, and end up feeling deflated and disappointed - or do I see it as an olive branch? I'd have to pay for flights, hotels etc. So it's going to be very expensive. I don't know what to do.

It is my busiest time at work - if it was a close friend, I'd say yes definitely, and make all the very awkward arrangements needed. But I feel conflicted.

Alternatives to 'Big Motoring World' for car shopping?

Not sure if anyone remembers Available Car in Morley when it was 'Available Car' but it's been taken over by 'Big Motoring World' and the whole set up has changed.

You used to be able to walk in and sit in any of the many 100s cars on display at your leisure. Made trying cars you fancied looking at a total breeze.

The new set up is that all cars are locked, you have to ask several people to go find the keys to sit in a car which, if you don't know what you fancy, means you could be there all day. You also have to sign up at the door, and the whole process can mean you're dealing with 4 or 5 different people. By asking for the keys, you're being roped into having a conversation with the salesperson. I am not yet buying, just want to narrow down my options when I am getting ready to buy.

Does anyone know of any large showrooms that had the same/similar set up to how Availablr Car had it?

I'm towards the end of my learner journey, getting ready to buy my first car but don't know what I might want. I don't want the whole 'sign up to sit in a car' setup, I just want the freedom to browse.

Would be happy to travel further afield if its a place that offers the service I'm looking for but I've no idea where to start!

Any suggestions?

Reversed my diabetes diagnosis in just over 3 months on MJ

I'm sat here in astonishment.

I was diagnosed with diabetes back in January/February. I was devastated, and the nurse suggested I start on Mounjaro. There was a waiting list for this so I had to wait until April to start the injections.

I've been on MJ since the very start of April. Changed my habits - what I eat, how much I eat, reduced how much bread, potatoes, rice etc I eat. I don't eat strictly but just made those changes.

I've lost just over 2 stone. I haven't noticed it, but today I fit into a pair of jeans I haven't been able to get over my bottom since buying them months ago! I also had a diabetes blood test done on Thursday.

I've just checked my results online and I'm no longer classed as diabetic 😭 I can't believe it. My HBA1C has gone down from 58 to 38, my cholesterol levels are back to normal and my liver readings too. My results in January were all labelled 'ABNORMAL'.

They are now considered 'NORMAL' 😭

I still have a LONG way to go. I've had a tough couple of weeks dealing with chronic constipation and the heat hasn't helped so my weight has maintained. But it's clearly going the right way.

I could cry, I'm so happy. MJ is literally saving my life!

This scene makes me cry every single time I watch

Without fail, everytime Robert comes into the room with Isis at the end of the episode, I bawl my eyes out.

Cora is so gentle in this scene too - I think this is one of her best seasons, how she manages Edith's situation and Mr Bricker.

Poor Isis 💔

'The young and beautiful Countess of Grantham turning eyes in a ballroom..' ❤️

I miss her, what a woman.

Rewatching DA makes me so sad to know she is no longer here but how blessed we were to have her as our Dowager Countess ❤️

TMI - Poo🤣

I started on 5mg about 6 weeks ago and suffered with awful constipation pretty much by week 2.

It's taking my body a full week or more to pass poo - which is totally unheard of for me. I was always very regular so its taken me a long time to adjust to my body behaving differently. My sister (also on GLP-1) said this was normal for her so I assumed this was going to be the new normal for me.

So I've spent the last 4 weeks really constipated. I'll pass one giant stool every 6 or 7 days, but be bunged up in the days between.

Well, I just woke up at 5am with awful stomach cramps. I thought it was trapped wind, and got up to move around and release it.

Trusted what I assumed was a fart - and knew straightaway this was not as it seemed. Ran to the toilet and passed a bit of liquid poo. I sat there for 10 minutes, thanked the gods for 'letting me finally clear my bowels' and got back into bed.

Big mistake.

My husband woke up to ask if I was okay. I said 'oh just a bit of trapped wind, I'm fine now'.

I felt my insides go again at that moment - and ran back to the bathroom.

What can only be described as poo-nami took place in that bowl. The sounds coming out of me were unholy - and I was sitting going 'oh my god, oh no' between the sounds. My husband listening mortified from the other room.

After a couple of minutes of hell, all was finally silent.

Safe to say, my insides are thoroughly cleansed. I feel light as a feather. 😂

Now that my body has finally reset, what do you all suggest I start with to regulate my insides? I can't do this again in 6 weeks time!

How much of your mortgage are you paying off every month after interest?

I'm curious where people are at the moment with their mortgages after so many of us got caught up in that increase a few years ago.

Our mortgage expired in that period of interest hike back in 2023, and our payments almost doubled. We've ended up having to overpay as the balance wasn't coming down much after interest. We've noticed a sizeable dent in our monthly income now as we're overpaying it by about £500 just to try get the balance down.

Nobody really talks about it so I'm intrigued to know how everyone else is managing? It felt like it went up, there was so much in the news about people losing their homes and awful stories, and then it went quiet again.

The entitlement attitude that seems to span across different generations

About a month ago, I went to the cinema with my friends to see Michael. About 5 minutes into the film starting, this group of 20-30 year olds come in, very loudly, trying to find their seats. They end up being on our row and proceed to spend the entire film being disruptive. Talking out loud, laughing and shouting, on their phones with the brightness turned up, running around the room, throwing food. We asked them to stop but it made no difference. They ruined the whole film and I ended up going to get a refund. They were not removed despite me reporting them multiple times.

I was mortified at the total ignorance of them and put it down to their age - despite not being much younger than me.

Then a few days ago, I took my mum and sister to the theatre. I've had these tickets to see this show for a year - so very much anticipated and excited. An announcement comes on at the start - no phones please and thanks. The curtain goes up - and 2 rows infront, a woman in her 60s-70s takes out her phone and starts filming. Brightness up the the max, no regard for anyone behind her. Meanwhile, me and my sister can't focus on the show as she's directly in our line of sight. She doesn't stop filming the introduction and keeps going when the main event kicks off.

I ask her politely if she can please put her phone away as it's distracting people behind. She puts it away briefly without acknowledging us. Then 2 minutes later, pulls it back out and starts filming again. My sister then asks if she can put the phone away as it's not allowed and its distracting. She ignores her and carries on. The person sat infront of us taps her on the shoulder and explains the glare is making it hard for us to see. She puts it away and pulls it out again a few minutes later. Eventually I got up and asked a steward to intervene. She says she can't until the interval. I sit back down, this continues until the interval. So I go to find another member of staff, they come over towards the end of the interval and tell her she is not allowed to film or take photos during the show. He explains why and that it was announced at the beginning. She starts by saying she hasn't done what shes being accused of and eventually agrees to stop.

Second half starts, curtains goes up - phone out again.

I couldn't believe it. I was absolutely furious - the whole experience ruined. So my second outing in just over a month, ruined by entitled, inconsiderate a-holes.

The staff afterwards told us they didn't have the authority to make someone leave, and to call security would disrupt everyone else enjoying the show.

I've never known people to be so rude. The phone thing is one issue - but the arrogance and entitlement is a whole other issue entirely. When did people become so self-absorbed?

Swimming pools similar to Richard Dunns?

Hello 👋

Just looking for some suggestions.

My favourite swimming baths used to be Richard Dunns in Bradford. They had a casual swim area as well as lanes so you could just relax and swim vs. lengths.

Since they closed down, I can't seem to find any baths that have a similar layout. It's all lanes which (I know they' say one lane is usually more casual) but it always feels like you're in someone's way.

Are there any similar pools that anyone who recalls Richard Dunns could suggest? I really want to get back into swimming but I've not enjoyed visiting any local to Pudsey/Bramley so far.

I'm confused about this letter I've just had in the mail.

I don't have children - yet it's written to me as if I am a parent.

Above point is fine assuming it's just a 'generic' letter. However it's addressed to me by name, and my husband should then have also received one. But there's just one letter for me, and it feels very 'mum talking to another mum' themed.

It feels a bit odd. Selective marketing? But also very presumptuous if that's the case.

u/pingusaysnoot — 5 months ago

I'm about to start my 5mg dose this evening. All has been fine - no real side effects.

I was just on a driving lesson and in the last ten minutes I started to feel like I was about to vomit. I had to pull over and ask the instructor to take over and drive me home.

I'm now laid in bed - my diaphragm is bloated like I'm about to be sick but nothing has come up.

I'm wondering if its something I ate yesterday. I went out for a birthday meal and the food was a bit richer than what I have been eating for the last few weeks since starting.

I felt fine after and I've only had a small jacket potato today for lunch with some tuna. So I don't think its my lunch.

I'm going to put off injecting until tomorrow but just wondered if what I'm feeling atm is normal? Husband has gone to get me some pepto bismol to hopefully settle it. 🤢

I started learning at the end of February. I was bought a 10-hour package with a new instructor as a gift. I've now reached the end of the package and am moving into paying per hour - which is £40. I'm currently doing 2 hours a week.

I had a chat with my instructor about moving into doing either 2 hours every 2 weeks or an hour a week, as £320 a month at least (unless there's 5 weeks in a month then it's £400) is a lot of money in the midst of the cost of everything else.

He said he understood but that an hour a week is too little, and a lesson every two weeks isn't good for continuity.

I seem to be doing okay - very positive lessons so far. And I haven't been consistently doing 2 hours every week due to a couple of things that cropped up that meant I had to push back a couple of lessons (bereavement/hospital appointments).

So I'm just wondering what would be the recommended amount? Would 90 minutes be suitable if that were possible?
