Hi all, I have just written an essay about the impact of social media and the Murdoch press on society.

I finished my period last week. But today at work, I suddenly felt a gush of liquid (like I had urinated) and could feel my underpants were wet. I went to the toilet and it my whole underwear was red. When I wiped I also had strings of blood clots. I had no spotting before hand and as had just finished my period, so didn't think I would start again.

I know this was a one time 'gush' of blood because I had a shower only a few hours later, after I had showered there was nothing to be seen. When I wiped it was completely clean.

I did not feel any pain or get any warning signs.

I am really struggling to find anyone else who has experienced this, so would appreciate advice.

For context:

I'm 24F overweight and have always struggled with my periods. Sometimes I used to get them for months at a time.

Doctors have always popped me on the pill and have always treated the symptom and never the cause. They often just tell me to lose weight as it might help.

When I came off the pill, my periods were normal for about 12 months after. They are more normal than they were before, but I seem to get random bleeding like this on top of my expected periods.

Any help is really appreciated. Thank you.
