Because he's not Fernando Mendoza, Josh Hoover is hugely underrated.

At this point a year ago, Fernando had 17 TD and 2 INT on 153 attempts. Hoover has 17 INT and 0 INT on 129 attempts. Hoover has 24 fewer attempts, about a full game difference.

I think if people went back and watched the first six games of last year with no knowledge of how the season turns out, they'd feel the same way about Mendoza as many of the doubters do about Hoover right now.

The standards have changed for a lot of Indiana fans. After an undefeated national champion Heisman winner, that's not a fair bar to judge the next QB against. It's virtually impossible to exceed or even match that level. Josh Hoover is a great, great college quarterback right now and we're lucky to have him with our team.

How do you handle this? You have a repeat client over multiple years. In the first few years, you're finding the same issues and the client is not fixing them. It turns out to be a lot, to the point of taking up all your available time to find and document them.

Now you get to the next year, same kind of test. During the initial meeting, would you ask the client:
Did you remediate these issues we found previously? If yes, great. We can validate that. But if the answer is no, and the answer is no to most or all of them, ask whether they want them tested again.

The reasoning here can go either direction. The client says yes to wanting them tested again, but then you're repeating your work and telling them what they already know and might have little to no time to find new issues. Or the client says no to testing the same issues, you document that in the report and then search out new issues.

My thinking is to have good documentation of the issues the client did not want retested and they acknowledged that those issues exist. This way if the client is compromised via one of those paths, they don't come back with the report and say "You didn't test this!" Well they can, but that's the importance of the documentation of the client's decision.

Yesterday I texted my usual golf partner to come play 9 today. He declined. So I head out to play anyway, figuring if there's someone at the course, I'd just jump in with them.

I tee off right before a foursome is making the turn. Pretty normal round, some good shots some bad shots. Then I get to the par 3 8th hole. Tee boxes are about 141 yards. Green is downhill in front of a pond. I hit a pitching wedge to a red, front of the green flag. I fear my shot is going to be short when it hits and then I hear the clank of the pin and the cup. I don't see a ball anymore. What the hell just happened. I'm all by myself.

I sit down and wait for the group behind me an explain. They say they'll watch me go down to the hole, and sure enough, I see what is in the photo. A hole in one...with no witnesses of the shot.

Can anyone (u/TheDriveFor25) explain how this works? My league is in free agency period (July 2) and the app shows my team salary is currently $101.204M. I don't know how it arrives at that number. For two reasons: 1) I keep a spreadsheet of my players and salaries, and the numbers don't agree, and 2) Most of my players' salaries are two decimal digits (ie. $7.25M) and the ones who are 3 decimal digits, end in a 0 or a 5. I don't understand how adding 0s and 5s can end in a 4. There are no players with four decimal digits.

Does anyone know how the game arrives at the salary cap total in the pre/off-season?

I play in a 32 team league where every team is run by another person. Each season takes about two weeks to complete. My team is just starting to emerge from a rebuild and would love to have a second set of eyes look at the team and think of options for moving forward.

Does anyone know if the offer sheet tiers and compensation exactly match the NHL's? Is there a way to see, in game, what is the compensation at each tier for an unmatched offer sheet?

I'd always wondered which teams have drafted well and which have drafted poorly. So I ran the numbers.

People are welcome to offer suggestions for a better methodology and you can read details on the site about exactly how I do it, but here it is in brief:

The goal of the draft is to take the best player available when a team drafts. For example, I can't fault the Buffalo Sabres for not taking McDavid in 2015. He wasn't available to them. But did they take the best player available for their pick? That's what I looked at. For every pick, for every team from 2005 to 2022. What did I use to judge the best player available? I used "Point Shares" from Hockey Reference. Maybe it's not the best option, but it is one. If there is a better number, I'd love to hear about it.

I just updated the data and the analysis. And until every player from those drafts is retired, the data will continue to change.

If you just hate Don Sweeney and can't even consider that he isn't the worst at drafting, it's probably best to just scroll on by.

I brought in my 2024 Ioniq6 for it's scheduled maintenance and as I was waiting, the sales manager approached me, seemingly expecting to find me as he knew my name. He asked about my car, like whether I'm leasing (I am), what I'm paying per month ($325) and the mileage (well under the allowance). He asked what I plan to do when the lease is up in a few months (February). I told him that I'm looking at an Ioniq5 or maybe something else.

He asked "If we could do the same payment today, would you do that?" I just said that I can't make a decision with 30 seconds of information, but that I'd look at numbers. He did say their sales are slow, so he's looking to deal.

So, with knowing the Ioniq6 is currently discontinued in the US, and I'd thought I'd either go with the 5 or the Kia EV6, how do I figure out what is a "good deal" with this guy? He didn't even say if he was talking lease or purchase, so that obviously needs to be known, along with all the other numbers.

How would you approach this?

I was wondering this yesterday. Professional PGA player, back nine on Sunday. He's too many strokes back to win, but he's still in the territory of a six figure money win. When they come down to the last few holes, how much risk are they taking? Do they check the leaderboard and see they're in a three way tie for 5th place and do some quick calculations on what a birdie vs. bogey will do for them? Or just play it safe, go for par? Sure, it's risk reward, but I'm wondering how often they'll take a shot where they know if they make it, it's a birdie look, if they miss, they're looking at bogey and that can be a difference of $200k or something.

Does that come into play or do they just play their game?

I went ahead and jumped right in. About 10 days ago, I got a Segway Navimow i110. So far, everything is great. The biggest concern I had before the purchase was the price. They're a lot more expensive than a non-robot push mower. But, here's my math and justification.

I cut my lawn at least once a week, and sometimes it was needed every 4-5 days. So I asked myself, what is my time worth? I'd say it's worth at least $50 minimum to mow my 1/4 acre lawn.

So now let's just do that math. How many weeks from April through October? About 30. That's about $1500 of my time to mow my lawn.

The robotic mower I bought was $899. It won't take long until it pays for itself in my time, and even better, I run it every day, so my lawn is always freshly cut.

If you're on the fence like I was, do it. You'll love it like I do.

My 2024 Ioniq6 is my first EV and the lease is up in February '27. When I first leased it, I didn't know whether I'd keep the car or get another one. I really like my car and if not for the $29k residual to keep it, I'd probably have considered that.

Now that I see Hyundai is discontinuing the Ioniq6 in the US, I need to look for a new type of car. I think the 6N will be out of my price range, so I'm thinking Kia EV6. It seems like it's a very close cousin of the Ioniq, other than one being a sedan and the other a hatch.

Does anyone have thoughts on a transition from one to the other? Reasons not to? Or any other similar comparisons to look at other than EV6 and Ioniq 5?
