is driving in LA really that bad

I consider myself a decent/good driver but I’m also fairly new to driving. Only been doing it for about a year. Is it really stressful to drive out there? The family I have from there say it’s horrible and would eat me alive but I don’t know how much of this is fear mongering and how much is factual.

No I can’t park. We’ll revisit that later. One thing at a time.

I’m exhausted with figuring my life out

Every once in a while, I try to romanticize this era of my life, and I know that I’ll look back on it later and find the beauty and having so many choices and options and paths ahead of me but right now everything just feels fucking confusing and a lot of responsibility!

I’m tired! I’m tired of working a real job. I’m tired of needing savings. I’m tired of not knowing if I should go to school when I should go to school or where. I’m tired of being in therapy working on myself and healing. I’m tired of knowing all the different things I need to do. I need to work out. I need to go to therapy. I need to heal. I need to budget. I need to save. I need to call my mom. I need to check in with old friends. I need to decide. Decide decide decide! And then everything has a consequence. Nothing is ever really the right decision but sometimes there are just clear wrong decisions. I’m trying to find the beauty in this era of building but right now I feel tired.

Flight Attending while in Grad School?

Has anyone successfully completed flight attending while also in grad school? Does anyone hold a completely different job outside of this? What has been your experience?

I want to work my little 78 hours and do the business program at my local college, which is twice a week. I’m a new flight attendant. Just got off probation. So far to me, it seems possible with my schedule and I live within base, but perhaps I haven’t been here long enough to know the actual reality of both of these things. Just seeing if anyone has tried it.

I’m not really interested in doing a fully online program. I specifically want the hybrid schedule. By the time I start at school, I would have some money saved up to sell off my shifts if needed, although obviously that is not the only issue with scheduling. Thanks!

why the FUCK does 911 have an automated response system

Imagine the day I had literally enjoying a walk in the park and a stranger has a seizure next to me and imagine trying to handle this at the same time as calling 911. It’s loud it’s hot and they don’t answer you call back and it’s a DAMN AUTOMATED RESPONSE SYSTEM. “Please press 1 for—-“

I, a simple civilian, am too busy handling the shaking person to attempt to listen and respond to an automated response system giving me a list of fucking options like I’m calling fucking customer service. What if I was in a mass shooting or injured and couldn’t speak or use the last of my energy to dial three numbers because that’s the whole point of dialing ONLY three numbers. I would’ve rather the phone just keep ringing until someone picked up than to have a fucking list of options to go through and press.

What’s next a fucking ai operator dear god.

My family doesn’t help themselves and it drives me crazy

It’s like they suffer from a case of severe helplessness and it actually pisses me off. Both my parents ~50 have an entire list of health issues but none of them are things that can’t be turned around with diet and exercise. Not even fully exercise, just movement!

My mom works a remote desk job and has no friends. She sits on the couch all day and orders Uber Eats. My dad does a physical labor job 24/7, his body is struggling to handle it and everyone keeps telling him to take a step back. He only eats fast food because he doesn’t cook or meal prep so it’s just drive ins while he’s in between work. He freaks out about his health and buys 30 different pills ( I absolutely wish I was exaggerating) from ads he sees on TikTok shop. He’ll take like 6 of these random ass pills a day and when I ask him what he’s taking he just reads me the bottle. No sir I want you to tell me WHAT that does for you?

And to be honest the person pissing me off the most right now is my sister. She’s 20 and hasn’t had luck finding a job in this shit economy. She also sits at home broke and depressed. I say things like why don’t you try going for a walk, pick up a hobby, reading, etc. anything to disrupt the monotony of applying for jobs and scrolling on TikTok. A list of reasons why she can’t do that. The main one is not having money. If you can find $25 every week to eat out or buy a “little treat” here and there you can buy a pair of running shoes, a damn book, or some crochet needles. Let me say that and I’m the asshole so I just have to smile and nod and say I’m sorry things suck It’ll get better :)

Living at home around this environment is so hard for me as someone who’s been such a go getter and overall knows how to pull themselves out of a hole. I don’t wanna hear the whole speech about how it sounds like depression etc. I’m empathetic enough to know starting is really hard, but at some point you have to pick yourself up or accept the help that’s being offered to you. Or at the very least don’t turn it around on me and look at me as the mean weird one. There’s so many people in this world going through depressions and they don’t have anyone around them being encouraging and offering advice and solutions. But I’m the asshole. The amount of times every single person in this family tells me “you don’t get it.” Dear god. They will “you don’t get it” me to death. I can’t even take it personal at this point they say the same thing to their doctors.

Thoughts on Open Box Gaming Laptops?

I just received an open box Lenovo Legion 7I Ulta 7 I bought am I’m wondering if I should return it.

To be fair, I haven’t really given it much of a chance
yet I just got it. It was rated excellent, but the bottom of the computer is all scratched up, and it’s getting pretty warm even tho I only powered it on, which is making me question their rating system.

This laptop is probably the most expensive thing I’ve ever purchased and I’m wondering if it’s worth just saving an additional 700 and buying a new one i’m scared to download all of my games and documents to this computer just for it to fail on me right after the 14 day window.

What’s ben your overall or general experience/advice with purchasing open box laptops from Best Buy? I have technology trauma.

how long did it take you to recover from depression/a tough period in your life?

I went through a major depression in 2024 and I’m feeling a little bit down today because I feel like I’m still coming out of it. I’m not depressed anymore and most days I feel pretty OK but I haven’t been really happy or myself ever since. I’ve gotten used to anxiety and OCD like symptoms being my everyday life.

I’m not depressed, but I miss feeling happy and free. Wondering if anyone has any tips or stories or reminders that healing isn’t an overnight journey.

I just bought a new laptop the Lenovo Legion 7i and I primarily got this laptop for the Sims 3 to be honest with you lol.

I want this to function the best I can. I have my old discs, but I’m wondering if it’s better to use the discs or buy with an online platform? Idk

I’m not super well-versed at all the new stuff happening with EA. Also I travel a good amount I know the disk don’t require Wi-Fi, but I’m not sure how buying something online would work.

Any insight is helpful thanks

I had my first session with a therapist that specializes in EMDR because that’s what I believed I wanted, however, after doing some research, I really wonder if I’m suffering from OCD or maybe just extreme relationship based anxiety and an irrational fear of being a secret evil narcissist.

When I brought these concerns to my therapist, she said OCD requires compulsions and asked me if I had any compulsion such as “repeatedly washing your hands” or “needing to touch a doorknob.”

I said no, however through my OCD research it seems compulsions can be so much more than cleanliness. I don’t want to act like I’m better than the professional but now I’m questioning if she’s the one for me if this is her understanding of OCD compulsions.

I promise I’m not trying to score an OCD diagnosis, or any diagnosis honestly (being diagnosed with anything ever also terrifies me, but that’s a conversation for another day)

but something about her criteria just makes me wonder if she’ll be able to help me in the way that I need.
